Reggie has drug Roger to the door and readies himself for a fight just in case the Triads prove to still be looking for trouble.

As soon as I note any hostility I will try and cast Deflection...

Re: Chapter 4.1.1: Big Trouble in Little China (Celestial Alley)

It's getting obvious by now that no one in the office is listening to Janet.

The door to the office remains closed, but the big double doors not far from them rumble open. Light from outside frames a large silhouette, which shoves a small, shivering figure into the building. There's a glow and a hissing noise from the bundle in the little figure's arms. The larger figure rolls the double door of the warehouse closed, leaving you alone with the small figure with the sparking, hissing bundle...

((OOC: Er, you can stop rolling now, Janet. These gangsters just sent a child with lit explosives into the building with you. These are obviously not people who you can reason with.))

The small child shrieks at the sight of Reggie looming out of the dark, skidding around him and heading deeper into the warehouse.

[[if you can catch her...rolled up 11 squares of running with her Fleet Footed there if necessary.]]

The demon roars and throws itself against the wards, which flare again. Then it stops and starts sniffing as the little bundle approaches...

((OOC: Note that it doesn't take nearly 11 squares to reach the circle where the demon is bound. Janet only needs to make it 9 squares to reach the place where the little girl has the best shot of throwing the bundle at the demon.))

There's a distant [Language unknown: "Aime evli ho ekmo koroveund werse,"] from outside.

The kid backs away from the bloody, leather-masked, shambling thing reaching for her with iron claws as it croons in the tongue of the mandarins, hugging the exploding chicken to her chest. Staring at Reggie, she almost backs through the edge of the warding circle, squeaking and almost losing her footing on the slick floor when the demon slams its forehead into the wards.

Half-frozen with pure fear, the girl looks up and further up at the shadowy shape, then swallows on her tears and stumbles out: [Language unknown: "Icaticsan reckol, fi, utivlilaur. Neunpl ove. Thiomewhi er."]

Bowing briefly, the girl hurls the roast chicken into the circle with all the strength a terrified eight-year-old can manage.

[[20:42, Today: Triad Rascals rolled 7 using 1d4, rerolling max with rolls of (4+3)7. chick-en! If that lantern's still lit, it's a sucess! At any rate, might want to take cover...]]

The sizzling chicken-bomb flies through the ward without stopping or halting in any way. The ogre snatches the awkward thing out of the air, then stuffs it down it's gullet with the same motion. Then it lunges at the girl again, ramming against the ward as it screams. "更多!"

Re: Chapter 4.1.1: Big Trouble in Little China (Celestial Alley)

The girl's scream is drowned by the demon's bellowing; she slips, scrambles up with a fair amount of blood joining the grease on her clothing, gives Reggie an utterly horrified look and bolts away from him, into the dark.

Feeling her way rapidly along, sobbing and coughing disturbed flies, the child finds a friendly crate and wedges her tiny body between it and its fellow. Getting the tiny roll of cloth and once-green string known as Cricket out of her pocket, she wipes her nose on her sleeve (leaving another trail of gangster blood, unseen in the dark) scrunches her fist into her mouth to quiet the sobs and wills herself to listen for the monsters.

[[08:05, Today: Triad Rascals drew the single card: 9S using the Deadlands system. init.

She's cowering in the bottom right pile of crates because Reggie is blocking her way back to the doors by being 6' of leatherfaced Scary]]

Re: Chapter 4.1.1: Big Trouble in Little China (Celestial Alley)

The explosion is terrific. The demon belches a multicolored tongue of flame as the fireworks burn off inside it's gullet. Fire roars around the thing as screaming, whistling rockets pop off inside it. The stench of charred ogre meat fills the warehouse. The demon topples...

...only to stagger back to it's feet!

"辣!" it grumbles with a toothy grin. It turns towards the boxes where the little girl had taken refuge. "更多!" It screams and slams into the ward.

The ward, scorched by the explosion, strains to hold the thing...but then fails completely. The ogre bounds into the dark warehouse, up to the pile of boxes where the little girl had taken refuge. It begins ripping at the crates with feverish abandon.

((OOC: The Rascals let me know via PM that the explosive feast was equivalent to 6 s5ticks of Dynamite, which means it does 4d6+2 damage in a Medium Burst Template. However, because the demon swallowed the damn thing, I'll treat him as if he'd thrown himself on a grenade. That means he takes double dice of damage (8d6+2) and will grant anyone else in the radius of the blast his Toughness in Armor to anyone in the blast radius.

None of the PCs (nor the little girl) are IN the blast radius, however, since you had time enough to get out of the way.

So basically, I'm rolling to see how badly this fucks the T'ao T'eih up.

20:14, Today: T'ao T'ieh rolled 21 using 8d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 2,2,2,3,5,3,1,1. Indigestion. That is one shitty damage roll right there. That's only a Shaken and 2 Wounds for the demon. To make this more fair, I'm not going to make a soak roll for the thing.

The demon starts it's turn Shaken, and rolls to Unshake. 20:19, Today: T'ao T'ieh rolled 2,3 using d6-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 4,5. unshake.

It does not unshake. Card for next turn: BJ!

It rolls to Unshake again. It gets the Joker bonus, which cancels out it's -2 penalty.

20:23, Today: T'ao T'ieh rolled 3,11 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,(6+5)11. unshake.

That give it an action with no penalty. Thus, it goes after the little girl, shoving boxes out of the way until it can get to her. That takes it's action. The girl is trapped between the boxes and the demon.

Card for next turn: JH))

Reggie, Janet, Triad Rascals, the thing isn't dead. I'm going to let you post at will right now...just make sure you draw for your next turn after you complete your action.

Janet races through the boxes, pistol in hand.  Taking a peek at the ruins of the wards, she utters an unladylike curse, and takes aim at the ogre.

Trying to find a vantage point to Take Aim from.  Also, I assume the wards are completely toast?

Reggie screamed once more but his words were inarticulate in any language. He left  his cover and ran towards the creature. His guns blazing. [Language unknown: "No!, linshesetter, t! I k acseic eloutr useve ers isnti ommo!"]

Two fist double tapping, reckless attack! Take that wound penalties...

15:25, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 1,5 using 1d6,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,5. dble tap, reckless atk #1.

15:26, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 6 using 2d6+1, rerolling max with rolls of 3,2. underwhelming damage roll AP 1.

And I actually forgot to increase the damage for the double tap so... seven damage

15:25, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 2,1 using 1d6,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,1. Double tap, reckless atk #2.

15:28, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 4 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4. 1 blue chip 2 increase the 2nd atk roll.

Total of 6 so hit no raise...

15:29, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 8 using 2d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 3,3. Second atk roll damage.
