Re: Chapter 4.1.1: Big Trouble in Little China (Celestial Alley)

[Language unknown: "Onver, wasst hou fifito niuspr."] Zhou lifts the can from their makeshift heating fire with a notched pole and passes it to Liu.

Liu takes it, ignoring his comrades' general silent disapproval. Shouldering the pole, he takes a strip of kindling, dips the end and lights it. [Language unknown: "A Tho of ssek k no, acchme traur wasureout."] He's just about reached the doors when they start shaking to an urgent pounding.

[Language unknown: "Mi a po! Menenchis! Reaaveoul, nc iv olus!"] There's a scrabbling of small fingernails at the door's edge. [Language unknown: "P el is! Oulartall! Ssprie stannt thi ere ou al!"] Liu swears, takes the taper between his teeth and hopes like hell the demon's attention hasn't been drawn to the doors as he shoulders one open, hauls the girl out and goes in himself.

The girl attaches herself to Long's side, presumably since he's the human being visibly furthest from the warehouse doors, and cries and cries, half from terror and half in relief.

Inside, Liu almost falls over Mr.Sebastian. A supremely nasty grin spreads across his features, uplit by the flame.

[[The kid takes the opportunity to escape whilst the demon's chasing Reggie about.
The Rascals themselves continue to make the warehouse flammable. Liu steps in with another light source, Drawing an Improvised Weapon.

Mr. Sebastian looks up at the triad thug giving him the evil eye. [Language unknown: "Ectal ichstryin t vor ckfost ac tinterthe his us teulce. We int fo a cailma eswino ectwhiear m eneial atito ck."] He says, slowly but clearly.

The screaming, flailing, bleeding ogre launches into a frenzied, berserk attack. It finally manages to land a hand on Shangahi Reggie, and yanks the martial artist towards its bloody maw.

((OOC: Sure. Why not?

Meanwhile, I spend a chip to let the demon unshake. The demon is well and truely hurting now, so it Frenzies and Wild Attacks. This will grant it +2 to attacks and damage, at the cost of -2 Parry. That will cancel out 2 points of Wound Penalty, leaving with with a total net modifier of -1.

17:14, Today: T'ao T'ieh rolled 4,8,9 using d8-1,d8-1,d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 5,(8+1)9,(6+4)10. Frenzy! (With Wild Attack). Hit.

Damage: 13 (Shaken and 1 wound to Reggie, which will make Reggie Incapacitated if he doesn't soak--and the demon will regenerate a wound).

Re: Chapter 4.1.1: Big Trouble in Little China (Celestial Alley)

Soaked.

Reggie scarred, burnt, bloody smiles in the face of the orge's frenzy. He drops his guns and launches two attacks at the beast, leaping towards the creatures jagged maw.

Stray, it is way too little and way to late, but I have been wild atk'n using the shooting skill which is in fact impossible to do as I understand it, since it specifically mentions Fighting rolls. That being said the damage i did never did more than piss the old boy off but still... shoddy gamesmanship on my part. Sorry about that.

17:00, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 6,4 using 1d12-1,1d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 7,5. wild atk iron claws #1.

17:01, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 1,5 using 1d8,1d4+2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,3. Iron claw atk AP2. = a big nothing with 6 damage

17:02, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 8,0 using 1d12-1,1d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 9,1. wild atk iron claws #2. 1 raise...

Using a red chip to increase the roll...

17:03, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 2 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2. Red chip to increase die roll. so plus two... means still only one raise. *sigh*

17:03, Today: Shanghai Reggie rolled 1,5,2 using 1d8,1d4+2,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,3,2. wild atk #2 w/ raise.  = 8 total. worthless.

17:06, Today: Shanghai Reggie drew the single card: 5H using the Deadlands system. Initiative.

My parry is at seven by the way.

((OOC: So noted. Honestly didn't catch it, but as it didn't matter, we'll let it slide. honestly, what's confusing me is why Reggie is only using his Eagle Claw style when he gets better damage with his saber. You can, in fact use your Saber in on hand while Eagle Claw attacking with the other. Also, have you been counting the damage bonus from Grim Servant o' Death?))

Re: Chapter 4.1.1: Big Trouble in Little China (Celestial Alley)

Liu tilts his head at the Mandarin, apparently understanding enough to pause.

[Language unknown: "Ou she our stonnist, u en me foaspe oneanyeventirespre pr comversti,"] he says with unwarranted cheerfulness, drizzling hot pitch over the recumbent sorcerer.

[Language unknown: "NCEHE A, THEER WAILNT'MITIPAEL UTCHHI'OUACSS!!!" ]Liu hollers above the man's demon-drawing screams, waving his makeshift torch before him to confuse his outline as he approaches the demon.

[Language unknown: "Ntiintcon n, ieis mo..."] he murmurs as the roaring thing rounds on him, momentarily distracted by the sight of Reggie's uncovered profile. "Ren Jie? -Ha!" He flings the pitch into the ogre's face, spattering its chest and ragged belly, then hurriedly backs up, swiping back and forth at the monster with his flaming brand cursing all the while.

[[13:48, Today: Triad Rascals rolled 15 using 1d8, rerolling max with rolls of (8+7)15. fightin'. +2 touch, -2 MAP Hit with raise, though don't know if the pitch would do any damage to a supernatural beastie on its own.

13:54, Today: Triad Rascals rolled 3 using 1d8, rerolling max with rolls of 3. As above, and no better with 2 whites, so.

Roger howls as the burning pitch covers him. The demon bellows, as well, and glares at Liu as it swats the brand away.

((OOC: The pitch doesn't do any damage, no. Janet can probably hear Roger yelling in pain.))

Re: Chapter 4.1.1: Big Trouble in Little China (Celestial Alley)

The shot is good. The fiery blast rips through the demon ogre's skull, splattering the flesh and bones of it's mighty jaw across the room. The creature's eyes roll back, it stumbles, and then collapses. Blood pours from the fracture in it's skull, and it wheezes a few times before lying still.

((OOC: Good shot. It's facing down 2 wounds from that attack, and since it's already at 3, that will put it down if it doesn't soak both of them. It has a -3 wound penalty, but a really high  (d12+2) Vigor.

19:39, Today: T'ao T'ieh rolled 2,7 using d12-1,d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 3,(6+2)8. Soak!

That soaks 1 wound, which isn't enough. The T'ao T'ieh collapses. I also check to see if the flaming pitch catches (4-6 on a d6).

19:42, Today: T'ao T'ieh rolled 2 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2. Fuego! No, it does not catch on fire.))

OOC: Yes, please! (Insert Quickening special effects here)

Meanwhile, I'm now spending a white chip to play Folk Hero.  Since I saved Chinatown from the ogre, I can always call on Chinatown for safe havens and aid.  Right now, I want them to aid Roger!

He leaves the doors open for them, but makes sure Janet sees him point two-fingered at his eyes, then at her in a gesture that needs no elucidation.

Reggie shakes his head at Liu. Truth be told he wanted nothing more than to demolish the entire gang and then slowly squeeze the last breath of life from the sorcerer's throat but this battle had taken it's toll. He would need to visit a mystic and soon to heal his extensive wounds.

"I heartily agree." Roger says weakly as he hangs on Janet. He frowns at Liu, then makes a gesture of his own: a single, upraised middle finger.

The gangsters outside watch for Liu to come out safely. That done, the band of cutthroats leaves the area.

"Well. On the whole, I would say that this night could have gone considerably better." he says to Janet. "Though you seem to have come through it remarkably well. How does it feel to Count Coup on your supernatural foes?"

He looks over at Reggie. "We must be off, to report to Haung Li and end this business between us. If you come along, I may be able to convince him to have someone tend to your wounds. And we should talk. Our organization could use someone of your talents."

Those were disrupted when the man with the magic feet dispersed it...it will take time for me to recover them.
