Yes, I've been in that boat.  I worked at a shoe store for a bit when we first moved down here, and most of the rest of the employees were all college kids.  It was a fun environment, but a little awkward at times, since occasionally I felt more like a baby sitter than a coworker.

Finding work anywhere is hard these days, but Ive been out of the work force so long it feels strange.

Being out of work is always a painful and awkward experience.   I've been unemployed for an extended period three times, and they all stunk.

I have also been unemployed and still maintain that the only thing worse than working is looking for work. Unfortunately, the only advice that I can offer is that applications and interviews are all about spin, story telling and roleplay. Personally, I think that it's a really bad system as it doesn't get the best person for the job and gives an unfair advantage to people with specific personality types but then again I don't make the rules.

In the end, I was lucky and got a few jobs that have given me skills that now make me very employable (I somehow ended up becoming a statistician even though it wasn't what I originally trained for). Unfortunately, it is also making it harder to move back into the area of work that I would like to enter (as getting jobs in the area requires a lot of ongoing background work which can't really be done when you are in full time employment).

It's been about 10 years for me since I last worked anywhere.  Being a stay at home mom has it rewards of course, but I need to get out of the house more especially since both my kids are old enough for after school activities and hubby works at night.  It'll be good for all of us ^_^

I lack patience though, so waiting is really killing me lol ^_^
