Arkham Hospital

Lead: Zoey
Feature: Sam Clay

Possible things to call upon: Sterile, Chaos, Well Lit, Patients, staff, Power Fluxuation.

Zoey arrives at the hospital and it looks like someone has jammed the doors.

She took out her phone and texted Sam again, 'Im here now, where are you?'

As Zoey waited for a response she looked around the hospital grounds for a way inside, hoping to find her boyfriend safe somewhere.

Her phone rang it was Sam, "Zoey you here ? I am up on the third floor."

"Third floor?  Alright I'll be right there.  What is going on Sam, the doors are blocked or jammed or something.  Are you okay?"

Zoey began looking for a way into the hospital and looked up at the windows on the third floor.  "Hey, get to a window if you can and look for me.  Im outside trying to get in."

"Alright I will get to a window. Things are crazy in there. I am on the left side of the hospital if your looking at it from the front. I didn't know the doors were blocked. I came here after the fire at the school. Miracles started happening sick people even people with cancer being healed. It was great but right now we have zombies walking around. I am not sure what to do."

"Zombies.  Great, because this day couldn't get any weirder.  I left just before the fire, that place is up in flames right now.  I made it rain to help the firefighters, I hope nobody was hurt.  Get ready to open the window when you see me."

She went to the left side of the hospital where he said he'd be and looked up at the windows looking for Sam.  When she saw him, Zoey put away her phone and used her Atlantian abilities to make a staircase of ice leading to the window.

"You might need to bust the window, these things are not made to open."

Sam sees Zoey and she sees him in a window he waves.

Zoey easily makes the staircase there being more then enough humidity and water.

Zoey climbs the stairs to the window and half smiles at Sam. "Okay, lets see."  She used her strength and pushed up on the window to open it, she'd rather not have to break the glass if she could avoid it.

The whole pane pushed in and snapped easily. There were some sharp edges though for the most part the window maintained it's shape. Sam moved it aside and helped Zoey in.

"Glad to see your ok, looked for you when we were all outside the school but couldn't find you."

Zoey wrapped her arms gently around Sam's neck and kissed him.  "Im glad you're okay too.  Susan and I left just as the alarm went off.  My strength and other abilities are wonky today.  I tore my locker door off by accident, the rain came down like buckets.  We were going to go to the cave and check some things out, see what else is boosted but then you texted me."

She took a step back and shook her head.  "So what's going on here?  Has anybody been hurt by the zombies?  Maybe I can freeze them in place.  Gotta help these people."

"I saw that ice staircase, wow that is impressive.  I thought you could only make tridents. As for the zombies I don't now.  I haven't seen them bite anybody but sure as hell scaring a lot of people."

Zoey chuckled, "I made a water slide the last time I was here, when Susan and Allura were patients.  I haven't really tried anything else though so Im curious to see what else I can do.  I know this place has cameras, so I need to find a mask or something to hide my face. I dont want someone to see me later doing what I can do.  I'll end up roommates with Cindy at the Asylum."

She looked at Sam then and smiled, "You saved a lot of people here today, and made so many people happy too."

"Can you make the stairs go away too ? Mask right here."

Sam hands Zoey a surgical mask.  "This should work I think."

Looking out the window at the staircase, Zoey concentrated on making it melt away.  She put the mask on after and laughed a little nervously, "Ready?"

Zoey opened the door to the room they were hiding in and then stepped out into the hall, an ice spear appearing in her hand.

"The zombies were on the lower floor, came out of the morgue."

"That's why people started flipping out, me to even with all I have seen."

"Dont worry, we'll take care of it."  Zoey took Sam's hand in hers and started making their way to the morgue.

Sam stumbled a bit as they walked along. He squeezed Zoey's hand.

"Yeah I know everyone is a lot safer with you here."

"Just doing my duty. Got to keep my loved ones safe, and those around them too.  I just really hope these zombies arent like the Walking Dead kind."

Sam shook his head, "No they look pretty normal, at least not half rotted or anything. Some are in cadaver bags still." Same slumped a bit against a wall.

"Weird I keep feeling like I am going to pass out."

Zoey stopped and looked at Sam worried.  "Lets get you out of here first then.  I dont want you getting hurt.  Were you hurt at all by any of those zombies, Sam?"

Sam shakes his head, "No, none of them hurt me. Just ever since I got here I have been feeling kind of exhausted you know. I don't know why." He straightened up.

"I should be alright."


In a nearby room there was a cry heard.

"There's a lot of sick and dying people in a hospital.  Maybe you're using too much of your energy here and it's taking it's toll on you.  We need to get you away from here as soon as we can.  You're abilities are boosted too it seems."

She stood quickly hearing the cry and ran towards the room it came from.

Opening the door Zoey saw a woman with hands over her mouth by a bed. On the bed was an older woman.

"They said, they said you were dead mom ! Your alive it's a miracle."

Zoey glanced from the women to Sam and back again before entering the room cautiously.  "Are you alright Ma'am?"  She watched to older woman on the bed.

The woman on the bed looked disoriented reaching out.

Sam remained at the door leaning on the door jam.

Zoey stepped into the room right up next to the bed and woman.  She looked at the older woman as closely as she could, "Ma'am are you alright?  Can you hear me?"

She looked at the woman's daughter. "Stay inside this room with your mother, keep the door locked.  There's something going on in the hospital, something weird, and it may not be safe right now.  Stay here until you hear the all clear.  Im not kidding around."

The older woman looked to Zoey, "Was I dreaming ?" she said with a barely heard whisper that sounded more like a moan.

The younger woman looked to Zoey, "Are you a nurse ?"

"What do you remember?  How are you feeling right now?"

She shook her head at the other woman, "No. Im a student volunteer though, and things are not normal here today.  It's probably safer in your room for now."

Zoey looked back at the doorway at Sam, "Are you okay?"

Sam nodded but he didn't really look better.

"I'll be ok."

The woman, "I was with my mother and father, and all my brothers and sisters who have died. I thought I was dead." The woman says barely above a whisper.

Zoey smiled warmly at the two women, "Well you're here now and with your daughter.  Just rest and take it easy.  Im going to lock the door behind me now, stay here."

She turned back to Sam and helped him, "Lean on me if you need to Sam.  I have an idea.  Im going to close off the hospital, to help contain things for now.  I need to get you somewhere safe."

"You think my powers are going crazy too Zoey ?" Sam does lean on Zoey for support.

She nodded.  "Yeah, I think so.  Lets get you to your car, we can leave after I seal the place."

Finally Zoey and Sam made there way to the doors and saw some large furniture pushed infron of the doors.

Zoey let Sam sit in a chair as she removed the furniture from the doorway.  "Why would they block it from the inside?  Who would they be trying to keep from getting inside?"

When the furniture was out of the way she turned back to help Sam out of the hospital and to his car.

"Thanks Zoey, When we go home, I guess we should avoid graveyards."


Zoey easily moves the furniture out of the way then hears a scream.

"No ! don't, Don't move those it's the end of the world !"

"Well, we could always go to the cave.  No graves out there."  She said with a playful smile.

The scream made her jump, and she turned to see who it was coming from.  "What?  You want to stay inside here?  It's not the end of the world, it's just..a very weird day."

"The dead are walking, and heaven is rejecting people, so is hell I guess."

They were dressed with in hospital garb.

"We need to stay safe who knows what is happening out there !"

Zoey just shook her head.  "Stay here if you'd like, but we're leaving.  Ready Sam?"

Sam nods and reaches out for Zoey.

The other person tries to push the furniture back.

Same whispers, "I think he is hysterical."

She nods and whispers back, "I think you're right.  I'd knock him out but I dont want to hurt the guy.  Come on before he blocks us in again.  Hey, you want to let us out first please?  Block the doors when we get outside if you really want to."

The man waits but as soon as they are out he moves the furniture back.

He does give them a long look though, "Good luck, please call me if things are ok out there." "You know my number Sam."

Sam nods, "Will do."
