Rory is busy working on his science project.

Rory was busy working on circuit boards. There were a few solar panels lying around the room though the exact nature of his work seemed unclear at this point in time.

Sal looked around seeing the large home it looked so ordinary yet he could sense it.

"You in there come on out !"

Rory walked out up out of the basement with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "Welcome to my humble abode. How may I help you?"

Sal was surprised.

"Well your not what I was expecting." the cowboy looked like he might have the wrong place.

Rory seemed slightly confused by the situation as well. On the other hand, he seemed intent on getting to the bottom of the situation as he continued playing on his fake persona. "Did you come for anything specific?"

"You wouldn't happen to have gotten any weird metals lately have you partner ?"

Rory continued his act. "Sorry, I don't have anything that could help you. If you are looking for unusual alloys, your best bet is to contact Wayne enterprises, I hear that they do quite a lot of work in high-tech experimental materials. I'm a bit confused, why would you be looking for rare metals here?"

"Just, thought. Something ain't sitting right. I guess I just made a mistake. Might attribute it to not being around these parts for a long time." He tips his hat to Rory looking confused as he wanders off.

Rory carefully watched as the man walked away, a knowing smile momentarily making its way across his face.

An hour later Zoey shows up.

Still feeling emotional as she walked up to the door of Rory's house, Zoey opened the door as she walked in and called out, "Rory! You here?"

Rory was in the basement again busy working on the metal Allura had acquired for the project. As he heard Zoey, he put the metal away and made his way upstairs again. "Zoey! How are things going?"

Zoey wrapped her arms around Rory's neck in a tight hug. "Are you okay? There is some next level crazy stuff going on. Like, remember when Allura was in a coma? Well, now she's not and she's healed. Oh, and they guy that did it, is some crazy cowboy.  How's your night going?"

"Allura in a coma? Better? Well, at least she's ok now." Rory breathed a sigh of relief. "Sorry to have missed all the excitement. I don't always get any signal in the basement."

"A cowboy? I think that I know who it was. He came by earlier but I wasn't able to get much information out of him. I didn't think that it was that important at the time." Rory was silent for a few moments. "I think that I should talk to Allura. Where is she now?"

"He shot her a few times and Amanda got her to the hospital, she was in a coma up until about an hour or so ago."

"What did he want here with you?  We thought he was looking for Allura again.  She's with Susan, hiding out from that guy."

"I think that I know what is going on..." Rory seemed to be cursing under his breath. "Sorry, if I had realised that all this was going on I could probably have dealt with the situation earlier."

Rory seemed to compose himself. " We might be able to fix this. Do you mind waiting here for a minute? There is something that I need to pick up in the basement."

"Really? You dont honestly think Im waiting here do you? I mean, come on, there's a killer cowboy on the loose," she narrowed her eyes at him, "and you know something about it. Or part of it. So lead the way and start explaining."

Zoey smiled at her best friend as she placed her hands on his shoulders turning him towards the basement.  "You have no idea how weird tonight has been."

Rory offered Zoey a conspiratory wink. "Just another night in Arkaham."

He then gave his friend a nod and began making his way back to the basement. "Fair enough, we'll go together."

The teen walked in silence for a few moments before talking again. " Well, it's a private matter between Mr cowboy and Allura. Sorry, I can't really tell you much more than that."

"Seriously? What's going on Rory?  Allura says she doesn't know why he shot her or why he went back to the hospital for her. Other than the dark obvious, but now Im not so sure. So what's down here that you needed to get?"

Susan, having been caught at several red lights, finally pulled up at Rory's home.   She was annoyed with traffic,  and people in general,  especially ones who insisted upon traveling in front of her at the speed limit.

"Look Zoey and Amanda are already there, and Rory looks alright."

Rory turned around as he heard the car approach. "Well that's convenient it seems that everyone is here now."

Allura looked around, "Susan you sure your magic senses are not on the fritz ?"

"I don't see Six Shooter Scumbag."

In reply to Rory Terrance (msg # 23):

"Good, it'll be safer that way. So what did this cowboy look like? Besides the hat and gun I mean."

Rory did his best to give Zoey a description of the cowboy while they waited for Allura and Susan to make their way to the door.

"Hi Rory ! We were worried about you."

Zoey called up to Allura and Susan from the basement, "We're down here!"

She looked back to Rory, "Where's your dad?"

Rory raised an eyebrow, apparently surprised that the others would be concerned about him. "Worried about me? Why? I heard what happened to you. Are you OK?"

He turned to Zoey. "My dad is doing some personal research at the library."

"Yes, surprisingly I seem to be."

"That's good to hear." Rory got closer to Allura, whispering so the others wouldn't overhear. "I know why the cowboy is after you. It's in the cabinet under the basement stairs."

Allura looked confused at Rory's statement and went to check on what he told her.

Allura would find the stolen hell-metal in the cabinet (assuming that it had not gone missing in the meantime).

"This ? How would he even know about this." she said to herself.

Susan walked up to Rory, clearly unsure whether or not to hug him.
"I'm so glad you're okay!  That psycho cowboy guy tried to kill us at the hospital.  I think he can detect magic, and if he'd found any here, he might have shot you.  I'm not sure why he didn't, to be honest.  What happened, exactly?"

Zoey came up beside everyone to see what Allura was holding.  She looked confused, "What's so special about this stuff guys? What is it?"

Rory didn't seem to notice Susan's hesitation.

He rubbed the back of his neck as he answered Susan's question, leaving Zoey's question to Allura. "Oh, I just convinced him that he had the wrong place. You know, the old, 'Me? I'm just an average student. I don't know what's going on' trick. The fact that I didn't know why a cowboy was roaming my house unannounced on my doorstep probably helped with that."

"It is the metal for our experiment but I have no clue why some cowboy would want or even know about this."

Susan sighed with amused, worried relief.
"I suppose we should consider it lucky that , whoever he is, he's still at least attempting to be subtle.   He just shot up a hospital,  so I was worried that he'd have a 'no witnesses' policy "

Rory nodded at Allura's comment. "Yeah, he asked about the metal."

"He shot up a hospital?" Rory seemed surprised by Susan's revelation. "I didn't know who he was at the time. I was just worried about my dad's reaction if he walked home to a house full of bullet holes and broken furniture."

Susan frowned in confusion.
"Wait...what?  What kind of metal is it? Is it magical?"

Rory looked back in fake startlement. "Don't ask me, I'm just a student."

Turning serious again, Rory shook his head. "Actually, I really don't know. I guess that you could investigate it with your sight."

"No need it is highly heat resistant alloys for our experiment."

Susan frowned again, in more confusion.
"Wait....it must be important, if a gun weilding maniac was after it.  Where did you get it?  It's not from somewhere sketchy, is it?"

Allura lied "Chrysalis Corp."

Rory did his best to back Allura up with a contribution of his own. "One of their ex-researchers sold it to us."

Zoey stared blankly at her friend. "Are you serious? How did you sneak it past them? You know that place is evil, I mean just look at who's chasing you now."

"Honestly I really don't know who that clown is. Why would a cowboy want this metal unless he wants to make bullets or spurs."

Susan frowned
"Well, it sounds like someone at that company wants the metal back.  "

Amanda looks around Rory's lab, "Ooooh whats this ?" Poke, prod.

Zoey shook her head. "Seriously Allura, when are you going to learn to stay away from that place?"

She sighed and turned to Rory, "So, you want to help us catch a cowboy? We can use that metal as bait since that's what he seems to be after."

Rory nodded as Zoey began talking distracted by Amanda's exploration. "Catch'a cowboy. Sure."

He rushed over to Amanda in an attempt to grab her arm. "Don't touch that. There's about a million volts of electricity going through it. You may as well stick your hand in a lightening bolt."

Nearby a teddy bear Rory didn't see makes an Eeeeeeeep sound and passes out.

Rory turned around to the others, changing the subject back to their current challenge.

" It might be best if we dealt with this situation anonymously..." He mumbled something about super-hero costumes and then sighed. "I suppose that all we have time for are hoodies and sky-masks."

"Ski masks and hoodies. All right then, lets go get a cowboy."

She turned and looked at Al G. "You alright little guy?"

Susan snorted a little laugh.
"I've been talking about staying anonymous since the beginning.  If my parents found out about what we do, they'd try to send me to a kibbutz in Israel until I'm 30, just to keep me out of trouble."

"Please, like that would work. Trouble would just follow you." Zoey teased.

Susan smirked.
"True, but it would be trouble involving old Jewish farmers, and that would drive me crazy."

"Well at least we listened to you eventually." Rory said with a wink.

"So what do we need to catch this guy? Im ready to go whenever you all are."

Susan rolled her eyes at Rory's remarks, but not without a smile showing her affection for her stubborn friends.
She looked at Zoey.
"Unless we know somewhere else this guy might show up, I think we might have to set up some kind of trap for him.  But that might be risky, too."

"Well, we know he wants the metal and that he can sense it somehow.  Lets use it to lure him to the beach away from people and set up a trap there for him."

Susan nodded.
"Somewhere near lots of water and stone works for me."

Zoey nodded then turned to her friends, "Rory and Allura, how about you two grab that metal and put it in the back of Susan's SUV and then we can all ride down together. Who knows how much time we have before Cowboy Crazy comes back."

Rory nodded, getting out a backpack to put the metal in and passing it to Allura. "Good idea everyone."

With everyone in agreement, Zoey started heading up the stairs from the basement. She called back over her shoulder, "Too bad we dont have a  way to track this guy like he can."

"Now I suddenly want to dress like a Saloon girl and go kick his butt !"

"I can see you doing that too," Zoey laughed. "We'll stop by the costume shop for you, see if they've got anything in your size."

Allura laughs !

Susan chuckled
"That would certainly be distracting "

As the group walked out of the house to Susan's SUV, Zoey checked her phone for messages. "Anybody want to guess where the cowboy went next? Im hoping we'll have time to set up a trap before we find him again."

Susan hit her lip in worry.
"He's already bothered  Allura and Rory,  so hopefully he won't show up mine or Zoeys houses "

Rory seemed to consider the situation for a moment. "I could try tracking him down but he may have some magic protections up preventing me from doing so."

In reply to Rory Terrance (msg # 73):

Susan pondered.
"A magical detection spell detected him here before,  so I can try it again "

Rory nodded. "Sounds like a good idea."

Susan worms up her detection spell as best she can

Zoey looked worried as she climbed into Susan's SUV. "You think he might go to one of our's houses?"

She took out her phone and called her dad.

"I wonder if she is at my house or the Asylum where dad is ?"

"Call him and find out," Zoey suggested as the phone rang in her ear.

"I don't have my phone probably still at the hospital."

She nodded, "You can use mine when Im done."

"What's up Zoey ?"

"Hey dad. Uh, I was just checking to see if everything was alright with you? There's not been anybody weird hanging around has there?"

"Hmm no, can't say anything out of the ordinary why ?"

"Listen, um, if somebody dressed as a cowboy comes knocking on the door, dont answer it.  Call me immediately and get out of the house safely. This guy is crazy Pops and I dont want you to get hurt. I'll explain later, okay?"

"Wait, I did have a cowboy looking person here. They looked at the antiques but didn't buy anything."

"What?! How long ago? Where did he go? Are you okay?"

The look on her face could easily match the tone of worry in her voice.

"It was earlier today hours ago"

"Hours ago? Dad, he shot Allura earlier this evening. He almost killed her."

Zoey looks at her friends, "He's been looking for you, or us, all day."

"If he comes back Pops, dont do anything except for calling me. I have to go now, I'll see you later."

"What shot your friend ? What's going on ?"

Zoey hangs up on her confused dad.

Zoey handed her phone to Allura. "Can you detect magic items and such? Pops said our cowboy was looking at some of the antiques at our place earlier. I dont know why he would go there if there wasn't anything special there. He's not the first strange visitor we've had at the shop recently."

Hearing that her fears were confirmed, Susan tried to finish up her detection spell quickly.

Allura calls her father.

She is talking in the background.


Susan does sense the metal is magical but not like it has been enchanted. It seems to be naturally that way.

While the others were doing their magic detection, "Amanda can you look through the eyes of a seagull and help me look for the cowboy? I figure if both us can do that we can find him quicker, cover more ground."

"Cowboy is at the Asylum !"

"Lets go! Is your dad okay?"

Startled,  but ashamed to be happy that the cowboy wasn't bothering her parents, Susan ran to her suv to drive them

Zoey followed quickly behind Susan, jumping in the front seat. "Shot gun!"
