The beaches of Arkham.

Susan is on her families yacht there is music playing on her radio.

On shore Zoey, Rory arrive.

Otto is curled up on a large rock sunning himself.

Susan walked around the deck of her family's yacht, "The Rising Tide", and tried not to feel awkward and uncomfortable.
Her parents were on a yearly pilgrimage to Israel.  They wanted to take her along, but she managed to convince her mother that it would be a wonderful "romantic" week.
It wasn't that she didn't want to go, of course.  She went with them last them the year before, and had been fascinated by the place, but lately she had felt uncomfortable being around them.  Ever since she'd accidentally messed with their memories, it just felt...strange...to be around them.   It was like she didn't trust herself and the power she had.

Of course, being on her family yacht wasn't necessarily much better.  She kind of wished she'd been allowed to take it out on her own, but it was just too big a vessel, and she'd needed to book the small crew who worked for her father.
While it was a bit intoxicating to have that kind of authority to order around a crew of adults, she couldn't help but feel like they were annoyed to have to take orders from a teenage girl.
She'd mostly stayed out of the way, especially after a couple of her "orders" were corrected by the more knowledgeable sailors.   And she'd quickly put on a floral beach robe after she realized that a couple of the younger male crew members were getting distracted by her in her stylish bathing suit.  She was just glad she hadn't worn the bikini her mother had bought for her.

So it was a relief when she saw her friends show up.  She waved to them.

Zoey was quiet on the ride to the beach, her mind lost in her own thoughts of the latest events in their lives. Allura and Malcolm, the Cowboy. And those were  just the tip of the iceberg. She sighed and leaned her head on her hand against the door as they pulled up.

"Rory. Can you ask your dad about the Atlantis books he has in the library?  I think they should be returned to Atlantis."

She looked out and half smiled, "Susan's got the yacht. Wanna go say hi?"

Turning to the captain of the yacht, Susan spoke with quiet authority.
"Let's go by the dock for a moment.  I'll get off and chat with my friends, and call you when I want to come back out."

The captain nodded and gave the orders.  If he resented following the orders of a teenager, he was too professional to show it.
The boat came by the dock, and Susan gave the captain a wave as she stepped off and walked to where her friends were.

Al peeked out from behind Zoey.

Zoey waved to Susan as she came to shore. "Hey Suze, what's up?"

Susan walked over to the others, smiling sheepishly.
"My father's yacht is supposed to go out once a month for maintenance and a performance check up, so I asked to go with them.   The folks are out of town, so I couldn't help but be 'the boss' on the boat.   Though I'm trying not to push m luck.  I'm not sure what the current 'mutiny' laws are, and I don't want to find out, especially so close to International Waters."

"How long are your parents going to be gone for? Rory and I were just going swimming for a while, maybe we can all go out on the yacht?"

Al looks all around and when some one other then his small group of friends is aroung he flattens out just looking like soggy algea

Zoey walks over to the rock and picks up Otto, "Want to go for a swim?" She scratches his chin lightly hugging him close.

Otto squeaks happily and bobs his head.

Off further from the beach the group can hear a strange sound almost like a slow car accident.

Zoey sets Otto back down on the rock and turns towards the noise. "We should go check that out. See if anyone is hurt."

To Otto and Al, "You two stay here out of trouble, we'll be back."

In reply to Zoey Krass (msg # 12):

Susan shrugged.
"The crew will be doing maintenance and stuff for a few hours.  I could get them to take us somewhere out on the ocean, and as long as I don't 'abuse the position' too badly, they'll do what I say to stay in my father's good graces."

She heard the noise, and frowned.
"Let's go see if someone needs help.  They might have gotten their car stuck on the beach or something."

Too clear things up the sound is coming from the sea.

In reply to Watchtower (msg # 14):

Zoey looks toward the noise in the ocean, "I'll go check it out if you guys want to meet me out there with the boat."  She heads towards the noise.

In reply to Zoey Krass (msg # 15):

Momentarily confused about where the sound was coming from, Susan headed back to the dock, where the crew was prepared to move off into the water again.
She would take Rory and anyone else there with her, who wanted to go
"There's some weird sound coming from further out in the water.  It might be a ship in trouble or something.  We should check it out."

The captain was dubious, but realized that the loud noises of the yacht made it harder for him to hear things than the people on the beach.
Shrugging, he agreed.  It would be a good time for a safety drill, at least.

Zoey is the first to arrive a ship is indeed in distress. Crew running about the deck in a bit of panic Some large tubes are pumping water over the side into the ocean. Luthor Corp is emblazoned on the cargo vessel.

In a burst of water Zoey is there.

It was a good sign to not see smoke or fire as Zoey got closer. She dove beneath the boat to inspect things from there, hoping Susan and Rory would be there soon, and looking for a way onto the ship.

There doesn't appear to be a reef or anything visible that the ship hit.
Still there is serious damage to the hull that does NOT look right it is like giant claws ripped the ship open. If something isn't done soon the ship will certainly sink.

As she is down inspecting things she sees life boats being lowered from the ship.

Thinking quickly, Zoey swims up to the huge hole and begins pushing and puling the pieces back into place and covers any other holes with a thick sheet of ice.

Spends 1 plot point for super strength

She is able to bend things into place and ice it up. The ship is very low in the water but looks like the risk of sinking is now gone. There were a few holes (slashes) to seal up.

About this time Susan's ship is starting to arrive.

She swims over to the cover of her friends yacht.

Susan sees an icy face looking up at her from the water.

Rory accompanied Susan on the yacht. He seemed to be slightly thoughtful.

Though initially skeptical,  both of Susan's claim of danger and her authority to take over their drills, the captain seemed to grudgingly thank his teenage boss for directing them to the scene to help.
Susan stayed magnanimous in her correctness, much to the captain's relief, since few things were more annoying than a spoiled rich girl who actually has reason to gloat.
Susan was looking at the other ship,  and saw the face.  Assuming it was Zoey, hidden in the water somehow,  she waved to it, and motioned it to follow her to the back of the boat, where Zoey could board secretly and pretend to have already been there (since the crew had been too busy to take a role call of new passengers )

The captain does say he will take some people onboard to get them to safety.

Nodding her thanks to the captain,  Susan directed (and by "directed", she means "asked politely") for any sailor not currently busy to get first aid and other emergency supplies ready for anyone who needed it

Zoey swam to the back of the boat and climbed up and joined her friends again. "Lets see if anyone needs help."

Susan smiled to her friends, and spoke quietly.
"Wow...we're saving people like normal, boring folks....this is a weird experience."

"Uh, except I used my abilities to stop their ship from sinking. And there was a giant claw mark in the hull. But yeah, we're saving people though." Zoey smiled.

Susan smirked.
"Well,  I guess we'll never be completely normal, or we'd never recognize ourselves "

Before any of the crew or the people from the other boat start joining the three friends, Zoey lets her ice mask melt away. She looks over the side of the yacht at the now floating cargo ship and the life boats in the water.

"Is anybody hurt?" She calls out.

"Yes we have some wounded. Thank you for taking us aboard."

"There's a jet ski bay around the back of the yacht," Zoey points in the direction she had just come from, "if you want to start bringing the wounded that way."

She turned to Rory and Susan "Susan can you get a first aid kit and bring it down? Or have someone do it? Have either of you heard of Luthor Corp before?"

Zoey headed back down to meet the life boats.

OOC remember you can make up details for a plot point if you want.

Susan got the first aid kit from one of the sailors and brought it to the wounded.
She spoke to Zoey quietly.
"I've heard of them.  They're a multi national company, a lot like Wayne Enterprises, but...well, they have a less savory reputation.  My father has done some legal work for them, mostly for their charity organizations (which, I suspect, are a bit hinky, too), though they have their own team of lawyers for all the times they get sued by environmental and human rights groups around the world.
But they're also a leader in technology and scientific achievement."

Susan sounded like she wasn't sure whether to admire them or not.

Zoey frowned with a deep sigh. "An environmental enemy. Great. And now they think they can come start trouble here? Nah-uh."

She helped bring the people onto Susan's yacht. Turning to a Luthor Corp crew member "What happened?"

The crew member shakes his head.
"Don't know, think we hit some unknown reef or something."

As she helped bandage people, "So what brings Luthor Corp to Arkham?"

Susan handed out first aid, listening carefully without seeking to

"As far as I know mam just knowing we were delevering cargo. I dont know the specifics. The captain probably knows more."

She nodded and helped the man to the upper deck to rest while they helped out with the other wounded. She looked around at the life boats that had started making their way to the back of the yacht, "Is he here or did he stay on the ship?"

"Captain is on the ship mam. He is kind of old fashioned that way. Going down with the ship and all that but he is a great boss."

Zoey smiled at the man, "You can call me Zoey instead of ma'am. Do you know if your captain is okay, or injured? It doesn't look like your ship is sinking anymore, that's a good sign."

"Ok Zoey. Last I saw him he was ok."
His eyes moved to look at the ship.

"He is probably at the controls."

"That's good to hear, that he's okay. Coast Guard should be here soon to take over things."

After making sure the man was okay, Zoey went to the side of the yacht to look at the cargo ship and the surrounding area. Hopefully whatever had sunk its claws into the hull was gone by now.

As she stood by the side of the yacht watching things, she turned quickly to Rory. "I have an idea if you haven't already done it."

She stepped closer to Rory and spoke quietly. "Can you scan these people and see if any of them know anything?"

Rory nodded. "Good idea."

He then activated his telepathic ability to try to learn what the strangers knew about the situation.

OoC: Spent 1 plot point, 2 plot points remaining.

The only thing gleaned is that they are doing exactly what they said transporting equipment to a receiver in Arkham.

Rory shrugged. "Sorry nothing interesting."

She nodded with a frown. "How far can you do that from? The captain is still on his ship, can you check him from here? I just feel like someone knows something that they aren't sharing. You know?"

"I can give it a try." Rory tried to extend his powers to reach the boat's captain.

The captain is definitely stressed out. Going over charts and wondering how he could have hit a reef when he has traveled this way before with no problems. Worried about his job and his crew. Pushing further he was able to see that his superior in the company stressed getting the cargo to Arkham without delay and as safely as possible. Yet he doesn't know what the company was shipping.

Susan kept coordinating first aid and blankets

The Coast gaurd arrives and thanks the Captain of Susans yacht for his help.

They start taking people aboard.

Rory gets a dark thought then of the captain contemplating suicide.

"Wow! I think that the captain is about to kill himself."<Blue> Rory seemed to consider his option for a moment. "Zoey can you race over there and stop him? I will try to talk him down from here."</Blue>

Rory sent a telepathic message to the captain, doing his best to blend in the words with the man's internal monologue, playing on the man's masculinity. ~'Suicide isn't the answer. That would just let everyone down. A real man wouldn't do that.~

Zoey, surprised by what Rory revealed, nodded and quickly dove into the water to get to the other ship and its captain. Hopefully she would get there before it was too late.

Trouble Pool

The Captain latched unto Rory's words.


He looked at the pistol then threw it back in his desk drawer.
"Yeah a real man wouldn't do this. God what was I thinking."

Zoey peeks in and sees the captain turning to walk out of his quarters.

Zoey was afraid she might find something gruesome when she came aboard the ship, but let out a sigh of relief seeing the captain hadn't done anything stupid. She followed him quietly to make sure he was going to be fine.

He didn't indicate he was going to hurt himself and eventually started to talk with the coast guard about the accident.

Zoey listened as best she could to see what if she could hear anything important. If not, she dives back in the water hopefully unnoticed.

The Captain is clearly dismayed that he hit something below the waterline. He seems very upset about it but he doesn't indicate seeing anything or even seeing that there was a reef here. A lot of paperwork talk follows.

Zoey sneaks quietly away from the captain and coast guard, diving into the water as soon as she can.

Though Susan was worried that more weirdness was entering their already bizarre town,  she was glad they could help the (presumably) innocent sailors

As Zoey dives back into the water from the Luthor Corp ship, she takes a look around for the creature that attacked the ship.

No creatures are in sight for her.

As she looks off through the waters with a curious look...
