Location: Susan's home

Allura and Susan are going over algebra home work which seems complex.

Allura thanks Susan for helping her.

Suddenly loud shouting and an argument is heard between Susan's parents the word divorce is even being tossed around.

Allura winces a bit, "I guess it is a bad time."

Susan looked at her bedroom door nervously,  not sure what to feel.
"I'm hoping they're just yelling for the sake of yelling.    They're both kind of high strung people,  after all."

"Susan we can study someplace else if you want."

Feeling embarrassment at having such melodramatic parents, Susan nodded with a scowl
"A school.pep rally would be more relaxing. Let's go"

She packs up her books and leaves the house with Allure.   She was tempted to say something snarky as she left, like "were leaving so you two can fight in private",  but chickened out and just left a note that she was leaving to study at Allura's (or, she told the maid, whichever was more convenient)

Outside the gardener was arguing with one of the maids.

As the two get in Susan's SUV.

Feeling a bit nosy, Susan paused to eavesdrop on nthe argument of the two family employees

It seemed to be a fairly silly argument about how the mistress liked the grounds over how the master does.

Susan rolled her eyes ans got into the suv, starting it.
"Well, that's just great.  If my parents divorce,  they're probably going to fight more about custody of the house staff than for me."
With a look of disgust, she drove off to where ever Allura wanted to go

Oddly it wasn't noticeable till they got into the city but lots of people were arguing.

Allura remarks it must be air your arguments day or something.

Susan nodded absently,  but then blinked in surprise.
"Wait.....this is, um.....a bit more suspicious."
She pulled over somewhere safe, and secluded, and started casting a spell to detect magical influence

Susans see waves of powerful magic all around permeating everything. Yet she sees the waves pass around herself and Allura not affecting them.

Susan looked distraught.
"Darn it!!!  I'm so stupid!  There's magic EVERYWHERE, but it's avoiding us.  Maybe I can track it...."
She tried to find the source of the magic

It seems to be everywhere she looks so it is hard to see a source. A spell like this if it is a simple spell is far more potent then she could manage.

Susan frowned in frustration,  trying to analyze the magic to help determine its source.
"Allura?  Could you call our friends,  please, and make sure they're okay?  I can't help but feel that this is connected to us, somehow "

Allura nods, "Sure thing."
Allura gets out her phone and calls Rory.

His cellphone left on his bed rings and rings.

"Well Rory is straight to voicemail. I am going to try Zoey, but she swims so much it might be on the beach somewhere."

Calls Zoey.

Susan nodded,  sighing.
"Rory might be doing something 'sciency', and not paying attention,  but we should go check on him"
She started driving to his house

The two drive off to Rory's home.
