Epilogue

This concludes my planned material for this game. I wanted to thank all of you for an awesome time and the opportunity to play this campaign. I couldn't have done this without you.

Please feel free to use this thread for any future IC posts, what you're doing with your profits from the trip, future plans, just talking, etc. Nik, if it's alright with you, I'm just going to assume you passed your miserliness roll and split the profits of the last leg evenly. That means everyone gets about $17,000.

In the future, I may start up a part 2 campaign if there's any interest. I'm also giving anyone who does stick around for a possible future campaign another 45 points to spend on their character however they wish. I won't be deleting this game, so don't worry about saving your sheets somewhere else.

Thanks again,
--Jared

Re: Epilogue

Aw man! I'm so sad its over. This is one of the very best games I've ever played in. I think we've established that we're pretty much all interested in a part 2 for this campaign, whenever you feel like picking it back up again.

45 points is awesome! I'm really not sure how I would spend it all beyond adding Pip as an ally. I think I'll wait until we are actually talking about starting back up again to decide what we've been doing in the time between the campaigns before I spend any points.

Thanks Jared! This was super awesome!

Re: Epilogue

I can't say "bravo" loud or long enough - this has easily been the best game I've ever played in any format. Thanks for the story everyone, I'll be telling it to whoever will listen for a long time I'm certain.

Jared, you've set a very high water mark for the other GMs to aspire to. You should be very proud and pleased with what you've brought together here.

Re: Epilogue

I came here to write something, but it's already been expressed better than I could have done in the posts above. So all I will say is to second everything! This game was a ton of fun, and I'd absolutely be interested in anything else you run, whether it be a continuation of this game or a new one.

Re: Epilogue

This is the first game I've finished on RPoL and by far the best one I've ever played.

Bravo to everyone for being amazing and especially our beloved GM. ^_^

I am way beyond extremely interested in a Part II sometime down the line. I'll be thinking about how to fill the time gap with interesting stories.

Bjorn will likely head back to take that position, using the funds he procured as a donation to help with the start-up costs.
He'll be inviting Nigel and Pip to convert and hope that they visit the way shrine often enough to get a religious lesson from their favorite priest. :P

Staunach would make an interesting convert, too, though I'm not sure Bjorn would get the chance to see him again. I don't know where the Slayers go off to.

If time would permit, Bjorn would use some of his money to commission the forging of a warhammer like his own to give Staunach before he goes of to fight to his death.

'Twas glorious fun.

Re: Epilogue

This is the first game I've finished on rpol too and it really was so much fun. I had a set plan going into this game, and it's been realized beyond my expectations. I'm grateful that I've gotten to know each of you some, joined you in other games, and participated in your own campaigns here on rpol.

I think I'll be starting up a game soonish using a different system, either Mutants and Masterminds or Stars Without Number. GURPS is a great system, and I think it'll still be my main system, but I want to branch out some.

Bjorn, that's absolutely do-able. The myriad of Dwarven smiths in Barak Varr would be happy to assist you in forging a new warhammer for Stanauch and I'm sure he'd carry it proudly with him. Slayers are nomadic, going wherever their whim takes them to kill powerful monsters, so you may wind up running into him again.

Re: Epilogue

I would be extremely interested in playing in either of those systems (if you're not sick of me yet!). I have a little experience with 2e Mutants and Masterminds but I've always wanted more - and I picked up the Stars Without Number bundle of Holding but haven't had a chance to play it.

Re: Epilogue

I'm thinking that Nigel would like to continue traveling with Nik or more likely find a place to live in one of the city's we went through. He could work as a fletcher, hunter, and guard while spending the gap time training Pip into a mini-Nigel. I'm thinking Forstall would be perfect (the little hamlet where The Witch [I still hate saying her name] burned that poor girl and Nigel cut off that thieving peasants hand). Plus it is only a few days journey from Bjorn's new wayshrine so it'll be easy to visit for lessons on Nigel's new-found religion and the trips will give Nigel plenty of opportunities to train Pip in his various skills. And if Bjorn decides to put together a group to purge any of the other nearby chaos sites, he'll be able to enlist Nigel for help.

I'd love to have him stick with Nik, but I'm just thinking it'd be hard for Nigel to train Pip while on the road and constantly guarding the wagons and Pip driving one of them and whatnot, so finding a place to live and work for a year or two would be the best way to go about it. Nigel has never had a better commanding officer and would definitely promise Nik that they will rejoin the caravan in a few years when Pip is better trained to defend himself.

Re: Epilogue

Grigory, that'll be great, I'll let you know if/when the game starts up. I really like SWN and haven't gotten a chance to use it too much yet.\

Nigel, that makes sense to me and if Nik picks up a regular convoy, like, between Grenzstadt and Brovska or something, you'd see him regularly anyway, maybe escort him through the woods to Bjorn's shrine or something.

I dunno exactly what the future holds for ol' Happy, but he couldn't ask for a better caravan companion.

Re: Epilogue

quote:
Possibly the only negative you have encountered so far in the city is a prevalence of rats. Apparently Dwarves have some sort of deep seeded phobia of the creatures and the rodent population in Barak Varr is getting very out of hand.

Grigory would spend as little time as possible in the city once he had been paid. Even if the rats are all mundane, he would never feel that the eyes of the Skaven were far. Instead, Grigory would build a cabin, or maybe even a carriage inn if he could afford it and find someone he trusted to run it, out along the road and spend most of his time hunting orcs in the fields outside of town.

The dwarves might feel that he is spurning their gratitude, but also would be relieved since Grigory's smell could sometimes turn even a dwarf stomach at the dinner table. You never get fully clean once you've been in the sewers of Nuln...

Konad will take the money offered and continue his war against the dark forces of chaos and will continue to learn more of how to combat the dark magic. His view was that the war was coming and he wanted to be there with all the fury he could bring.

Re: Epilogue

As usual, i'm the slow one in. I think my contirbution to the story was minimal but it's worth saying that this is one of the best games I've ever played in message-board land. It's really amazing how well everything flowed and continued and just progressed. In addition, the one of the great things is that while it was a fantasy game, the setting actually was slightly off-normal and added a little spice of originality to the type of fantasy games that usually come about..

In addition, while the effort was a masterclass of GMing, all of the other players really deserve some credit. The best stories can fall on their face without support from a set of great players. I think every character here in this game was fantastic and really brought their own personalities through, it made the party feel real and the characters seem more alive. The whole group was great

Really, Jared, this was amazing and I apologise profusely for not being a better player for you and the other folk here.

////////

i'll think about what Ogindur could do with his added wealth.

Also, if there is any development of this story, any future campaigns then i'm 120% ready and willing to play, if you'll all have me!

I probably shouldn't poison the love-fest with any negativity, but does anyone else remember Klaus? >_<

Re: Epilogue

Yeah. I was still a lurker then, but I recall. I've had issues with that guy every time we've been in game together. I've quit or had him cancel every game we've been in together. I'm glad he quit though, not just because he's a jerk, but also because I got his spot. Bickering one little things like that sucks the fun out of it.

Re: Epilogue

No, Klaus was another player. He's active here on rpol and has GM'd quite a few GURPS games, but I've tried to avoid him. He didn't really mesh well with my GM style. Sometimes it's hard not to turn off the GM when you're in a game as a player, and I think Klaus had that problem.

I agree with Ogindur that this whole thing would've fallen flat if it wasn't for my amazing batch of players. Thanks again to each and every one of you. All of you contributed meaningfully, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you :)

I just remembered! Ogindur owes Nigel $100 now! Nigel definitely won their wager about who would get more kills on that leg of the trip.

So hammered were Nigel and Pip both that he wished he had never made that wager, though he was glad to have won it, at least he didn't have to pay for that magnificent hangover.
