I will echo the sentiment.  Hopefully a painless, speedy recovery.

Re: OOC Chatter

In regards to tournament rounds:  How do you decide who goes first on the second (and possibly third) games in a particular round?  I've always played by the rule that the loser of the previous game got to decide who goes first, but I don't know if that's official tournament rules.  Is that how it's done or do you choose randomly for each game?

In reply to Lord of the Pit (msg # 977):

the official rules are first round random players choice (or by lower seeded rank for seeded profesional players) seccond and consecutive rounds it is the loosers of the previous rounds choice.

Of course, since the thread is becoming full, it is my intention to start a new OOC thread just before we get to 1000...  :-)

Then I will be the first poster (other than you). I shall be called SugarRush the Creator, SugarRush the Shaper (really auto-correct? Shaper is incorrect?), SugarRush the Beginning!

Re: OOC Chatter

so how does M15 seem to people

the new Legandary sliver seems a little too strong for EDH. (for those that don't know its WUBRG for a legindary sliver that has all Slivers you control have indestructable)

Re: OOC Chatter

Looks interesting so far. I'm thinking of using the new Ob-Nixilus in Commander, simply because of how much tutor effects in that format annoy me (Captain Sisay, I'm looking at you! Although there are others, just as bad).

As for the new five color sliver: Ow. I mean, I like tribal, and Slivers are like the Ur-tribal card. But they've always been a bit powerful, and somewhat unstoppable without tons of removal. And now they've removed that Achilles' Heel. Can you imagine the pain you're in for if your opponent has this sliver and a Crystalline Sliver in play? Barring a few rare cards, there's nothing you can do.

Headed out on vacation today...forgot to pack any decks so will not be posting until early next week...unless the sealed deck tournament advances...I have that as a virtual deck.

Re: OOC Chatter

What ways are there to play a spell (or at least get effects for things)? I know how to do creatures without casting them, but I need ways to play instant and sorcery spells that don't involve "casting" them.

Re: OOC Chatter

There is no way that i know of.

the ones that spring to mind are Splice onto Arcane, Forcast and storm. there are also a few things that put copies of onto the stack but i think forecast is the closest thing that exists

Re: OOC Chatter

Hmm, I might have to make this new deck instant and sorcery light, then. What I'm trying to do is have ways to do things after playing an Epic card (such as Neverending Torment). Mercadian Lift, Copper Gnomes, and Master Transmuter are some of the types of cards I'm looking at.

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pa...nt]+[sorcery]+![cast]

Re: OOC Chatter

Eh, the point of the Epic spells was that you didn't really need another spell after casting them... I never saw anyone use one. Ever.

Re: OOC Chatter

I used to use Eternal Dominion, which is probably the best of them, as it gets to choose something nasty from your opponents deck. The deck consisted of various reset buttons (Karn, Liberated; Sway of the Stars; Worldpurge; etc.), various ways to bring permanents into play without casting them as mentioned before, and things to help minimize the board of others, and a slew of other permanent effects that were nasty in regards to Eternal Dominion.

I had some in some of my fun decks. The Blue one was the best.

In reply to red2wedge (msg # 989):

BTW the way karn works with epic is that it restarts the current game so you cannot cast spells in that game either. however the epic trigger would still happen giving you the epic spell each turn even though it has been shuffled back into your library

EDIT ognore this official ruling is different

Hmmmm... I bet Enduring Ideal would work much more powerfully now that there's a bunch of Enchantment Creatures to work off of.

Hello everyone, brand new to the game! I am here looking to have fun and learn Magic at a pace that I can think. Looking forward to learning, and meeting you all. Now, to  go make a virtual red/green deck. Any suggestions?

I like Werewolves for Red/Green. Fun and can get powerful fast.

Re: OOC Chatter

You can get super aggressive with red green.  You can use elementals that come in with haste and then use enlarge on them or something ridiculous like that.  Not really optimized, but who cares?

Re: OOC Chatter

One of my favorite setups for red/green:

4x Rite of Flames
4x Geosurge
4x Orcish Lumberjacks
4x Deus of Calamity
4-8 landfetch cards (Cultivate/Kodama's Reach/Skyshroud Claim are my favorites to put in)
then toss in Zur-Taa Druid, Gruul Ragebeast, draw mechanisms, and Planeswalkers to your taste.
I've also had Fanatics of Mogis, Hammer of Purphoros, Gruul Warchants.

Nothing much like getting a turn 2 Deus (which happens fairly regularly with that deck).

Welcome! I'm the other almost-not-quite-newbie in this game.
Being the other almost-not-quite-newbie I don't have any good suggestions for you.
In my GR deck my favorites are Chub Toads http://magiccards.info/med/en/116.html,  Dwarven Warriors http://magiccards.info/5e/en/222.html, and Force of Nature http://magiccards.info/me4/en/154.html.

I agree with LAGO, with RG you can get really powerful cards, and give them ridiculous enchants.

Re: OOC Chatter

I am basically shooting for life gain and damage. I was going to go elves and dragons, but that would be , well, I dont know. I've only played at FNM a few times and never won. I played on steam, but never was any good at building decks.
Maybe because I am just starting out?

In reply to Wolfie62 (msg # 998):

It usually takes a person a while to find their groove with deck building.  When I first started I thought I would play mostly white, but it turns out my best deck is red/green.

Don't get discouraged with deck building.  Trust me.  Most of the decks I build roll over and pee on themselves ... but in my mind, THEY. ARE. EPIC.  Focus on having fun, and the winning will get start.
