I admit my spreadsheet has had "shuffling" problems in the past - however I believe I have actually fixed that now!  :-)

We'll see how many games you get Maze of Ith in, in the near future. :p

I meant it more like "It blew his mind, the cards are so powerful he had to run off and make a whole bunch of new decks".

OK - we have another potential new player - hopefully he'll join us soon - Thanos.

Thanos - have a look at the RTJ thread where you can read some info on how we play games here - if you get a chance, download my spreadsheet :-)  A useful tool (assuming you have MS Excel) for managing your decks/games etc...

Greetings,

Don't know about PBP as of yet, but I keep seeing the community and thought it would make a great sounding board for deck ideas and whatnot. We shall see what kind of time I have given I am in the middle of a lot of interviews and hopefully will get an offer soon!

Re: OOC Chatter Mk III

Ah - well I confess I never have the time to play any other way than playing here...  It makes for a slow game - but I confess I actually like that - it gives me time to really think through a turn - to figure out the best play possible...  :-)

But if you want to just discuss deck building/game mechanics - hell, I'm OK with that too.   I have to admit that the number of active people on this board isn't that many at the moment - but there are at least 2 of us who are likely to give you some feedback... Munch (aka The MunchKING) is usually up on the latest cards and he and I are experienced players of quite a few years, so familiar with the rules!

Re: OOC Chatter Mk III

I started with Alpha and stopped with Ice Age, selling almost my entire collection for rent/food for 3 months. Then I got back in when I started teaching at a high school that had a 'Planes Walker' MTG club because I knew the sponsor and he needed somebody to watch the kids about once a month. Spent about $250 on Kaladesh and then only purchased 4 of a card that I wanted as singles from there, nothing higher than $5.

Most of what I will be theorizing about will be for Arena, which doesn't take that much time IMO, but I understand that many don't like the format.

So what do you guys like out of the War of Sparks? Particular Cards, the idea behind Amass, etc?

Re: OOC Chatter Mk III

I had to google Arena :-)  (the phrase that had gone over my head) - I might have to give it a go at some point!

As for War of Sparks - not played any cards from the set yet - but from reviewing some of them - there are plenty that would fit very well with a number of decks I already have...

Particularly liked Light the Beacons as a way to pull out your planeswalkers and that quite a few planeswalkers have powerful, albeit  purely defensive always active features...

Re: OOC Chatter Mk III

The new set seems to work well with Green Elementals, Exploration, and Proliferate couple with a few of the green/white Planeswalkers. Pretty potent unless you can kill the Elementals before they can get pumped up. Still have to deal with the explorers who get pips though.

Re: OOC Chatter Mk III

Hi all, new to the group, hoping to maybe get some commander in, or at least discuss deckbuilding. Not sure if anybody has seen it yet, but the new Sphinx in the next corset has a guaranteed spot in my Wheel/Group Draw deck. six (6) Mana 4/5, Flying, pay 2B to Draw 2, Discard 1 card, and most importantly....whenever it deals damage to a player(not even just combat damage, but damage), you may reveal your hand.

You reveal cards with at least 6 different Converted Mana Costs, that player loses the game.

Interesting - not seen that card before.    And confess I've not heard of a Wheel/Group Draw deck either!

So - Munch - you around?   Want to start up a new 3-way EDH game with Speedy?  :-)

Yeah, that one looks bonkers, but it's probably going to be hard to make the 6 different CMCs work.

*shrug*

I don't have anything better to do, I'll round up my commanders.

Maybe I'll bring in a new guy too, from Modern Horizons...

Sorry about that. I don't currently have Excel, so I'm not 100% sure how I should go about setting up my deck. I can post a plaintext decklist, and play with photos I guess?

Re: OOC Chatter Mk III

Does that allow Asynchronous play? Most of my available play time is while at work, so I'd take maybe a turn a day on their.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Asynchronous, but you can save your game and play it later at work or whatever.

Re: OOC Chatter Mk III

Not been on RPOL for ages...   At some point in the near future, I'm going to tie up the loose ends and delete this game, unless anyone speaks up and says they want to take it over...  which seems unlikely since nobody seems interested in playing.
