Shackleton: Medical Bay

The Medical Bay of the Shackleton isn't large. Several patients could be treated there at a time and it has all the basic needs for illness, immunization, minor surgeries and the like.

It is not intended for major surgery such as transplants, cybernetics or similar.
In lieu of such equipment it maintains five short-term cryopods to freeze crewmembers with severe injuries to keep their life function suspended until they can be revived and treated in a full medical facility.

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

Selana Venn is beautiful, she really is. Unapprochably so, in fact and everyone on the ship sort of gave her a wide birth because of that intimidating aura.

She stands talking to her assistant, Junior Officer Hael, but eyes you sidelong as you approach.

"That will be all, Astra Prime Hael."

She looks Master Farhenra in the eyes and you realize he seems to be standing there almost as if he's on guard and expecting violence.

"And you as well, Zenner. I will be alright alone with her."

Without a word he leaves as well and she looks into your eyes with her magnificent dark hypnotic gaze.

[Private to Maire Doiteain: Do you know why you are here? She does not move her lips but you hear it in your mind, clear as if she had whispered it in your ear. Her intimidating smile never leaves her lips.]

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

Maire was really quite surprised that all the rumours she'd heard before were correct about this woman. Beauty intimidation, and apparently some tricks up her sleeve. Maire decidedly took a step back and assumed a cool posture.  "I am, rather unfortunately, not completely certain as to why I'd be requested down here. I can make some assumptions, but I have a personal preference not to voice them. Assumptions can be so...." Maire waved her hand around flippantly, attempting to find the right word, but gave it up after a moment. "Anyways, I'm hoping you'll tell me. Or at least give me a hint." She said with a grin. She was careful to keep all of her motions moderated, to show that any humour she showed wasn't serious in the least.

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

She just smiles and looks at you, hand folded on her lap as she sits.

[Private to Maire Doiteain: You don't have to feel uncomfortable around me, Maire. You can trust me.

Her lips still aren't moving, but her eyes... they're just so beautiful. She looks at you and its like she's a goddess. She knows how you feel, she cares about you. Everything about her posture is heavenly and comfortable and trustworthy.

Please tell me what happened on the planet. Who did you talk to?

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

Maire was getting an awful headache... "I didn't... I didn't talk to anyone." She said confusedly. [Private to Selana Venn: Maire took a guess, and assumed if this woman could send thoughts, she could pick them up to. And also that she wanted to keep this as private as possible if she was sending thoughts. I was attacked on the way in. I lost conciousness for a few minutes. I woke up, the other two left the ship, we attracted drones, we flew off, I attacked them, we went back to the base. On the way, I was contacted and given instructions. To go into a room in the Filed emitter tower. Floor 37. I was given the access codes, the program to run, and then instructed to sit in the char. Nothing more than that. Unless if you count it hurting when I went outside, and when we left. I think it had something to do with those spores, but I can't be certain. She said.

OOC- I just made a guess. If I guessed wrong, which I probably did, I'll just delete the private msg.
Guesses make me uncomfortable. xD

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

The smile never leaves her lips, but the corner of her mouth twitches and there's a look of fear in her eyes for a moment before it passes and she is terrifyingly beautiful self again.

[Private to Maire Doiteain: You are fortunate that you did not follow those instructions. You most likely would have been wiped out and someone else would be in your body right now. I would have been forced to burn your mind out and add your body to the pile.]

She pulled a little metal cube from a tray on the table, no larger than a sucrose cube for flavoring. She holds it out in her palm, clearly offering it to Maire.

[Private to Maire Doiteain: I will have to train you. This will be your first lesson.]

It appears to be a block made of metal. You are unsure what the purpose of it is and you begin to wonder if she is making fun of you somehow...

Officer Venn goes back to work at a terminal, content to treat you as if you were not even in her medical lab.

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

Nuna sat down at the terminal in the medbay, compared to every other room on the ship this one had the most open volume for work but it still felt cramped. To her it was a haven. Doctor Venn only turned up to criticise her work and indulge in her own favourite personal vice, which seemed to Nuna as if it were picking on her. She checked the status of all of the stasis pods, that they were all functional and in working order and made sure that everything else was restocked correctly and in the right places, before indulging in her own favourite pasttime. Relaxing in the chair she started reading, with her music set to maximum volume. It was a good thing the music was set to turn off anytime anyone pushed the button to be let in. The tension in her neck and arms soothed as the sickbay pulsed to Havens top dance music.

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

It was strange not having access to the H-Net. Out here a full Magnitude Three drill away from the nearest comm buoy or outpost, Indaris Hegemoney radio signals were decades old, maybe even centuries. The transmissions were often garbled or merely static and generally contained nothing of use or interest. The only way to get up to date signal was for a courier ship to come through Metaspace and deploy all it's high-powered comm gear, relaying the messages stored in the databanks at the speed of light.

Aside from that, there was no way to send a message quickly across the stars and out here beyond the Dead Zone there were no courier ships. It was just the Shackleton floating in the darkness of the void.

Venn had tasked you on looking over the data on the Pretech medical suites that had been discovered in the facility on Kingsport. The technicians and scientists in the crew had concluded it couldn't be removed without destroying anything of value, but they managed to take deep scans and copy some of the softcode over for study later.

Nuna found herself absorbed by the code. She wasn't a computer expert by any stretch of the imagination, choosing to spend her time on other more furitful pursuits at University, but the code was tantalising for its worth. It hinted at a deep fundamental knowledge of the body, Nuna almost groaned at being unable to follow the enormity of the information she was reviewing on the computer, thankfully her music jelped her keep her sanity as she tried to follow the logic of the code.

Re: Shackleton: Medical Bay

Nuna found her eyes closing of their own accord as she tried to make sense of it all. It seemed like jibberish. More than that. It was jibberish. Nothing she could do would interpret it successfully, but the effort had to be made. It was almost something of a relief when the announcement for a spike drill was made. Nuna moved around the sick bay putting everything into the correct place for a Spike before sitting back into her seat at the medbay computer. "Bridge, this is Astra Prime Nuna Hael, Sick bay is ready for Spike." she then closed her eyes and listened to the music as the drill continued.

Nuna's nose wrinkled as the ship transitioned to Spike drive. The wave of nausea passed over here and then slowly subsided. She reached for the anti-emetics and shut off her music. Across the ship there would be bound to be many making their way to the sickbay for a pill or two to help ease them into metaspace.

Nuna frowned. Battle Stations. Immediately after a spike? She wasn't about to question it though. She quickly prepared the medbay for incoming casualties, privately wondering if there would be anyone left to crew the vessel after this altercation.
