House Rules
I realize there are two different skill point allocations for characters, depending on which copy of the TW2K rules you have.
One of the rule sets indicates that characters receive MEB x 20 for military skills, 350 background skill points, and education points equal to EDU x 40.
Another set indicates that characters receive MBE x 40 for military skills, 300 background skill points, and education points equal to EDU x20.
Players may chose whichever is preferable for building the type of character they would like to play. Support characters may find the first to be more advantageous, and combat oriented characters may find the second to be a better choice.
Players should request Referee permission prior to rolling the check required to become an officer. This is simply to make sure that players understand that unlike a traditional Twilight 2000 game, playing an officer PC in RBS may require a considerable time comment and may involves special responsibility. Much depends on whether you will be have direct command, or be some form of specialist (Pilot, FSO, Doctor/Nurse, etc.). Let's chat before you pull that trigger.
We will slowly incorporate vehicle aspects from the www.pmulcahy.com site, such as fuel capacity and usage, sensors, etc. Since there is some difficulty in converting the armor calculations used from version 2 to version 1, vehicle and weapon systems used from this site should have a close counterpart that has been stated out in the V.1 rules set.
Armored vehicles can be in one of two states: buttoned or unbuttoned. A buttoned vehicle has all hatches closed and offers the listed armor protections indicated for that vehicle type. Only half of a character's RCN value may be used for any RCN checks conducted in a buttoned vehicle. An unbuttoned vehicle has hatches open and allows crew to conduct RCN checks at their normal values, however, crew maybe subject to attacks that do not consider the vehicle armor rating. Button or unbuttoned status should be indicated in the 'Hatch Status' entry of a vehicle. These are not applicable to an unarmed vehicle.
