Unified Resource Pools

Rather than hassle with a large number of different resources that are usable per day, all feats, class features, spells, spell-like abilities, and racial traits that have limited uses per day or other time interval consume either STAMINA, ALACRITY, or FOCUS.

A short rest allows you to recover half your maximum Stamina, Alacrity, and Focus points. A short rest takes only about 15 minutes but you can benefit from a short rest only once every 2 hours.

ABILITY RANK

All special abilities have a rank. To determine an ability's rank, you must first figure out if it is a spell or spell-like ability, a dynamic feature that grows with level (increases bonuses, healing, or damage based on class level or hit dice), or a stagnant feature that does not grow with level.

TypeAbility Rank
SpellSpell Level = Ability rank
Spell-like abilitySpell Level + 1 = Ability rank
Stagnant feature1/2 class level at which its gained (round up and +1 if class has requirements + 1 more if prestige class) = rank
Dynamic featureAs stagnant but + 1/4 class level beyond the level at which it is acquired

STAMINA

Your Stamina is equal to Constitution modifier + Strength modifier + your level/hit dice (minimum 1).

Whenever you use any combat feat, extraordinary ability, or other special ability that has limited uses per day but isn't magical or supernatural, it consumes Stamina points to do so rather than having to track daily uses. The cost to use such an ability is equal to it's ability rank. You can also use 1 point of Stamina to gain the benefits of 1 minute of Barbarian rage or similar abilities you may have.

ALACRITY

Your Alacrity is equal to Dexterity modifier + Intelligence modifier + your level/hit dice (minimum 1).

Whenever you use any Dexterity- or Intelligence-based special ability, it consumes Alacrity points to do so rather than having to track daily uses. The cost to use such an ability is equal to it's ability rank. You can also use 1 point of Alacrity in place of arcane, grit, ki, panache, and other points for  Alchemist Bombs, Alchemist Discoveries, Investigator Talents, Magus Arcana (except Scions), Ninja Tricks, Rogue Talents, Slayer Talents, Swashbuckler’s Deeds, Vigilante Talents, and Witch's Hexes (except Scarred Witch).

FOCUS

Your Focus is equal to Charisma modifier + Wisdom modifier + your level/hit dice (minimum 1).

Whenever you use any Charisma- or Wisdom-based special ability, it consumes Focus points to do so rather than having to track daily uses. The cost to use such an ability is equal to it's ability rank. You can also use 1 point of Focus in place of arcane, grit, ki, panache, and other points for  Bardic Performance, Bardic Masterpieces, Cavalier/Samurai Abilities, Cleric Powers, Magus Arcana (Scions only), Monk Powers, Palading/Antipaladin Smite, Special Mount, Channel Energy, and similar abilities, Summoner Eidolon and Summon Monster abilities, , Swashbuckler’s Deeds, Vigilante Social Talents, and Witch's Hexes (Scarred Witch only).

REFOCUS

A character can take a 2-action activity to re-assess a situation and take a deep breath. They can spend up to half their current stamina, alacrity, and/or focus and move it to another pool. For example, a character with 0 Stamina, 2 Alacrity, and 6 Focus could refocus and spend up to 1 Alacrity and up to 3 Focus to gain 4 Stamina.

SURGES

A character can have up to 2 + 1/5 level surges at a time. These function as hero points or inspiration but can also be used to grant you the benefits of a short rest instantly, even if it hasn't been 2 hours since your last short rest. This requires no action on the part of the character.
