With a final burst of range Mevoli slashes into the tentacle that grasped him and buried his shoulder into the body of the blue cultist. The cultist went tumbling into the pit and there is a sudden rumbling from far below. The remaining tentacles swarm to his body, coil about it, and carry him rapidly into the depths below. There is a moment of tense silence, then the earth shakes! A massive coil of tentacle rises in the distance. This thing is at least 50 feet in diameter, far larger than anything you have seen so far. Then another massive tentacle unfolds beside it, then another. The edge of the cliff crumbles before you as one of the tentacles lashes out against it! Within moments there are dozens of house-sized tentacles rising into the shadowy distance, all lashing against the cavern walls! A rockslide begins, and rubble falls from the sky all around you. Suddenly, the entire cavern feels as if it is in the midst of an enormous earthquake as the mighty pit-beast bashes the cavern walls all around you!
With the exception of Hlin everyone else escapes the collapsing caverns from the tentacle beasts rage. The collapsed tunnel provides a clear tunnel out of the pit provided you take the route safely. All of the creatures left over from the battle have fallen inert or were crushed beneath the crashing cavern. The party returns to Berdusk succesful, and they saved the young woman who was to be sacrificed. For their noble deed the woman's father offers two of his best oxen which Dixie takes along with purchasing a small farm plot so she can grow her turnips like she did back home. Dixie also finally makes a bond with Bobugbubilz succeeding where she had failed so many times before. The party relish their victory spending the new few months eating, drinking and being merry as life begins returning to normal. For successfully saving the town they are each presented with a large sack of gold and the gratitude of the high lady. It doesn't take long for each member of the surviving party to start using that money in earnest rejoicing that they still yet live and drinking off the horrors they just witnessed.
A large mass is held in the center of town in memory of those who lost their lives. The small memoriam setup is a sobering reminder of the sacrifice they had to endure to bring peace to this land.
