Re: Character Generation
Re-posting a question I had from the FATE game thread. Great Power is allowed or just the basic book. Also do I need to roll all my stuff through the Dice Roller or can I generate it with my dice and post the results?

Re: Character Generation
In reply to Unknown Blitz (msg # 2):

If you have access to Great Power, feel free to use it! (So far, my only qualm with the Great Power preview is the way Fast Attack is altered. Until I get some clarification, I'll run Fast Attack the ICONS Core way.)

Go ahead and roll with real dice for character generation if you like. I'm pretty sure I trust you all. :)

Here's a format for characters that you can copy and paste:

Prowess x
Coordination x
Strength x
Intellect x
Awareness x
Willpower x

Stamina x
Determination x

Re: Character Generation
Name: Ty'daal
Origin: Unearthly

Prowess 3
Coordination 4
Strength 8
Intellect 4
Awareness 5
Willpower 4

Stamina 12
Determination 3

POWERS
Water Control 5
Aquatic 4

SPECIALTIES
Underwater Combat Master (+3)
Mental Resistance (+1)

ASPECTS
Qualities:
Noble Warrior
Water-Born

Challenges:
Dehydration
Allows no Insult
Stranger to a Strange Land

Bio: Ty'daal is a warrior from another world where a cataclysm caused by alien invaders forced his people from the paradise of their water world outwards after the oceans were destroyed. He is the last survivor of the ship he escaped on and was lucky to find a world like Earth before his physiology killed him.

Apperance: Ty'daal has light blue skin and wears 'organic' clothing/tribal armor made out of crustacean shells and the like along with what appears to be the native equivalent of his homeworld's shark teeth necklace.

(I picture Ty'daal as a cross between Namor and Mera from Aquaman.)

(Dain, I switched out his Corrosion power I rolled up for Aquatic, which was listed as a stunt of Water Control, is that ok by the rules?)

Origin: Gimmick

Prowess 6
Coordination 4
Strength 3
Intellect 4
Awareness 6
Willpower 5

Stamina 8
Determination 2

  Resistance: Mental  4   Device

SPECIALTIES

Athletics
  Science (Archeology)

ASPECTS

Qualities:

"Let's not fight"

Surfing Archeologist

Connections: the University of Hawaii Archeology dept.

Challenges:

Enemy: Circe

Weirdness Magnet

Total Points: 46 when I plugged her into the character folio.

Notes: Used Great Power, and random rolls. When I rolled Resistance, I chose Mental since these powers seem to be lining up this way.

Origin: Kailani was a star student at the U of H. After she completed her PhD thesis she spent time on a pre-Mycean dig in the Mediterranean. There she found the amulet, and Circe. Kai doesn't know if this is the mythical sorceress or someone using the name but she is scary.

Kai felt drawn to the amulet and put it on. She was able to fend the sorceress off, but she made a lifetime enemy.

Kai should be looking for professorships. But she loves to surf (her love of the sea and her mind powers inspired her name.) and is adjusting to powers that can be used to help people...even when it puts her into dangerous situations.

Kai is a reluctant superhero. She wants to help people and uses her powers for good, but she is uncomfortable in fights...but she is learning.

Kai is laidback, funny and easy going.

Total Points: ???

Bio: Amm-Fib'ian, or Ian as he goes by to humans, was the head of the sea-crime unit for his race. Able to solve any crime or mystery, he was held in high esteem. While on an investigation and exploring a sea cave, there was a huge rumbling of the earth, and the cave collapsed. After he awoke and slowly made his way out of the cave, he found his great city had vanished! All he had to go on was an empty boat found floating above the area where his great city had once existed. The boat contained a charter from the University of Hawaii and a wet footprint of one of Emperor Penguin's minions.

He needed to take his investigations to land, so taking what he could from salvaged wrecks, he built the Transferal Unit of Neural Awareness, T.U.N.A. for short. This device lets him possess others, and thus operate on land in their bodies.

Amm-Fibian made contact with High Detective Jones of the Multinational Investigation Bureau shortly after making his first landfall, and the two have a mutually beneficial partnership.

The one case Amm-Fibian has not been able to solve is what happened to his people, but he is working on it...

Biography

Angela Fiske grew up in the Florida Keys, working for her family's small charter fishing company.  The first member of her family to attend collage, Angela received her Master's in Marine Biology from the University of Miami. During that time, she attended a lecture on Cetacean language and intelligence given by Prof. Alexander Ricks.  Intrigued, she began researching the subject, reading studies done by the experts in the field - Prof. Ricks in Florida, Dr. Derek Flint in New York and Prof. Sharon Corr in Chicago.  Realizing that all of the previous studies had been done using captive or trained dolphins, Angela determined to undertake her own study using wild dolphins. Toward that end, she enrolled as a Doctoral Candidate at the Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology at Moku o Lo'e.  She soon determined that if humans and dolphins were going to converse there would need to be a technological interface.  This realization drove her to make the acquaintance of Dr. Kenji Ishida.

Dr. Ishida's controversial experiments in deep-submersion diving proved fascinating, distracting Angela from her studies.  She joined Dr. Ishida as an assistant along with his adult son, Kenshiro.  Ishida-san felt that by modifying the diver as well as the equipment, humans would be able to withstand greater depths and pressures for longer periods of time.  To that end, Angela allowed him to treat her with an experimental formula intended to enhance her natural ability to breathe the perfluorochemical liquid necessary for the ultra-deep diving suit.  The formula was a success, allowing her to utilize the "Angelfish Mk. VI" suit to it's fullest capacity.

Kenshiro Ishida was also taking experimental drugs designed to increase the body's abilities.  Dismayed at his own lack of results (especially compared to Angela's), Kenshiro began secretly increasing the dosage.  The resultant overdose caused Kenshiro to mutate -- transforming into a ray-like creature.  Driven insane by the transformation, Kenshiro blames Angela -- and has sworn vengeance!

Concerned for Angela's safety, Ishida-san redesigned the Mark VI suit, transforming it into the armored and armed Mark VII suit she wears today.

The Angelfish Mk.VII suit resembles a conventional scuba diving suit.  Constructed of experimental transparent Kevlar-neoprene, it is not as bulky as traditional deep-sea suits.  The bubble-style helmet necessary for the rebreather fluid and the twin missile pods gives it a rather anime aspect.

Angela herself is a tall, shapely redhead with short curly hair, hazel eyes and a smile that tends to be more smirk than sultry.   A self-described "tomboy", more at home in a bikini and bare feet than a business suit, she looks more like Hooter's waitress than a doctoral candidate.

Bio:
Todd Atkins was a born loser. He was born in a poor family, to an alcoholic mother and abusive father who worked for the mob. Worse still he was a skinny uncoordinated kid, of ordinary intelligence, with few friends and no good ones to speak of.

He left home at 16 and took on a series of low-paying dead-end jobs on the mainland until he turned 23. Hoping that the exciting new metropolis of Akamai City might give him better opportunities he worked his way to Hawaii on a tramp steamer, and found an affordable hovel in the shoals.

His fortunes didn't improve much. He had a job waiting tables in a tacky cafe, and was subjected to constant derision by the low-level thugs who frequented the place. The only thing that made it bearable were the martial arts classes he took at Rick Chung's Kung Fu Academy. He was terrible, and struggled to make yellow belt, but he didn't care. Rick treated him with respect, and Todd finally found a place he belonged.

As important as the physical training was, the life-changing factor was learning to meditate. Rick taught Todd a series of advanced secret meditation techniques, and Todd spent hours every day practicing these, trying to unlock their secrets.

What happened couldn't have been foreseen. In an unfathomably deep meditative state Todd reached out across time, making contact with μ-90, one of Todd's descendents from five million years in the future!

For days Todd sat in his shabby apartment, unmoving, communing with μ-90. As a result of this link μ-90 helped Todd unlock his potential, unleashing abilities he never dreamed he had. He learned how to take himself to the edge of the next stage of human evolution, the point at which humanity will achieve physical perfection, before proceeding to the next stage of intellectual perfection.

Todd woke up. After emptying his refrigerator he hit the gym, training harder than ever. In weeks he added pounds of muscle, rapidly improved in his martial arts abilities, and surprised everybody by earning his black belt several months later.

Two weeks later walking home from the cafe he saw two of the thugs from the cafe push an old man against a wall. One flash of anger and two punches later and they were down, with Todd the embarrassed object of a gushingly grateful old man.

Returning home Todd turned on his TV. The second newsstory was about Amm-Fibian and High Detective Jones of the Multinational Investigation Bureau stymieing yet another plot by Emperor Penguin.

Todd turned off his television. He understood that was his purpose: to be a hero.

That night he made a costume, and the next day set off to find Amm-Fibian.

Epithet: master of time

Challenges:
Personal: to find out how he got his powers

Total Points: x

Bio:
Ben’s grandfather was a watch maker of some renown and through his career made watches for rich people and royalty.
He was born on Hawaii but went to the states as a young man where he learned his trade under the tutelage of a master watchmaker. He soon found a good life for himself, married and had a son.
The son, Ben’s father, grew to have no interest in his father’s work and went on to become a lawyer. He to married and had a son Ben.
Ben’s birth was hard and he came into the world early with little hope of surviving but he was a fighter and he survived everything life throw at him. His grandfather was there all through the early days with a reassuring “only time will tell” when the next health scare reared its ugly head.
By the age of 12 Ben had conquered most of his health issues but the doctors advised his parents that he should be in a warm environment to help with allowing his weak lungs to work better.
As his grandmother had died a few years earlier and his grandfather had retired it was decided that the two would settle down back in Hawaii, he grandfather because he felt it was time to go home, Ben for health reasons.
All was going well and in the new environment the boy started to thrive. By the time he was 18 he’d made the football team and only rarely used his inhaler. Then disaster hit or should it be said the car hit Ben and killed him. This destroyed his family and his father blamed his grandfather and the family were split apart by the tragedy.
Ben’s grandfather grew more and more insular and turned to his old religion and beliefs to find answers as the years passed and the old man got more and more desperate he started to believe he could make a time piece that would allow him to go back and save his grandson.
One dark stormy night the old man crept into the cemetery with a machine combining modern technology and arcane tribal spells. He placed it over the grave of his grandson and turned it on.
Suddenly the world around the old boy blurred and he was standing on the sidewalk watching his grandson step out into the road. Rushing out he pushed the boy out of the way and was struck dead by the car. There was a rippled in the fabric of time as time itself tried to right this wound.
At the moment his grandfather touched him in the past his grandfather was also touching the time machine. Time did the only thing it could it tried to get rid of the one thing it could the device exploded and the resulting time wave travelled back into the past and through the grandfather and into the grandson.
Ben woke when his alarm clock went off he pulled himself out of bed and looked at the time it was the day of his grandfather’s funeral and he quickly got ready. He owed so much to the old man firstly for taking him in and being a father figure to him and for saving his life a week earlier by pushing him out of the path of a speeding car which killed him instead.
The funeral went off in a blur and Ben only faintly remembered the event his father was there but he said little to him and then his father left and that was it.
His grandfather had left him the house and his little shop which as a kid Ben had spent many wonderful hours watching his grandfather work.
With what little money was left him he learned the watchmakers trade and now at 25 runs the shop and makes a living from it.

The last year has been strange for Ben, he started having strange dreams about things that are going to happen soon he was not only having them while asleep and with concentration he could see things that were going to happen around him and alter the outcome of it. He also started to loose moments of time and find himself in other places when he came too. Again after concentrating he found he could speed time up directly around him. The effect made him see the world in slow motion but he moved though it at normal speed but in real time it looked like he moved as a blur.
Lastly he found he could manipulate time directly round him to slow down things that could possibly hurt him thus when he was shot at when a mugging went wrong he stopped the bullet millimetres from his body.

Realizing something had happened to him but not knowing what he decided that his abilities could be of use in the world and soon after the Time Keeper hit the streets as a hero of the now and future
