Time Keeper:
The boar skids to a halt in the sand, and, still favoring it's injured leg, begins to circle, glaring at you with red eyes. It's apparently obeying the sorceress' mental commands...

Angelfish:
The singed boar scrambles to it's hooves, grunting with pain and fury, and lowers it's head as if preparing to charge. But it hesitates...

Ty'daal:
Grunting in frustration, the gold-toothed boar delivers one final, ineffectual kick at your midsection, then ceases it's futile struggle for freedom.

"You manipulate and prey upon those weaker than you sorceress. You will not like how this 'guest' conducts himself in your lands," the warrior says, voice full of confidence.

Still holding the boar firmly in his grasp, he mentally gathers a suit of water around him then heads inland seeking the source of the voice.

Re: E5S6 - Kuaihelani - TK
Everyone:

As you head inland and somewhat uphill, you see the mountainous center of the "island" through layers and bands of mist. The central peak is topped by a dark smudge of smoke, but the terrain leading up to it looks... odd. Parts of the island look like lush Hawai'ian foliage, but other parts, separated by the bands of mist, appear to be brown grass and sparser vegetation. It's as if the entire island is a jigsaw puzzle made up of two sets.

The two injured boars accompany you, one on either flank as you travel. (The one Ty'dall has under one arm is coming along too--but he has no choice!)

Entering one of the browner areas, you find knobby olive trees and low, green shrubs that release the scent of oregano as you brush past. The shifting bands of mist seem to be steering you toward one of the brown areas partway up the side of the main peak.

Angelfish:
As you gain a little altitude, the comm readout from the Kiyomi Maru shows STO## FR##T CLE####G SHRK###AITR AB###RD #PLS RESP####

Everyone:
Suddenly, the ground beneath you begins to tremble, then shake violently!

[OOC: Everyone test Coordination vs a Difficulty of 5 to keep your footing.]

Angelfish follows her companions inland, her pace slowed by the Mk VIII.  A glance at the readout on her wrist shows most of a rather garbled message.

Ishida's worried, better check in.

She toggles a switch for text only - no need to broadcast to the guys - and begins to type.

SAFE 4 NW  MOVNG INLND  STA SAFE  L

A sudden violent tremor catches her off guard, sending her to her knees!

Oof!  Okaay.  Pay attention!

She stays on her knees, waiting for the trembling to subside so she can regain her balance...

Re: E5S6 - Kuaihelani - TK
Everyone:
The massive shockwave that just passed beneath you had an epicenter very close by--bursting up through the crust of the soil is a mini-volcano! A wave of heat washes over you and scalding hot rocks fly in all directions.

Rising up from the twenty-foot diameter caldera is a human figure! He's a muscular Hawai'ian man, dressed in a malo made of red cloth and a cape of red and yellow feathers bearing a flame design. His hair isn't hair, it's fire, and lava drips from him like water sheeting off a swimmer.

He slaps one of the flying rocks like a handball, sending it directly toward Angelfish!

Angelfish:
Since you were Knocked Off Your Feet by the shockwave, you're facing a greater difficulty avoiding the rock.
[OOC: Test Coordination vs a Difficulty of 7 (his 5 Coordination +2 for his free activation of the Quality.) The burning stone does 5 Stamina if it hits!]

Time Keeper:
You recognize this guy! He calls himself "Honua, son of Pele". Haikili fought him a couple of times last year. He's sort of Haikili's nemesis, in fact.

Ty'daal:
You don't recognize him, but the heat shimmering off him in waves isn't going to do your water-shield any good...

[OOC: Angelfish defends, then anyone can go in any order!]

-2 + 6 (coordination)= +4 +2 (acrobatics) total +6)

Still on her knees after the tremors, Angelfish looks up-slope to see Honua rising majestically, menacingly from a newly formed crater.  Flame and lava drape him, super-heated rocks fly...

Flying rocks!  Yikes!!!

A chunk of the stone speeds toward her, and from her kneeling position Angelfish tumbles forward, desperately trying to avoid the missile...

And is almost successful.  The rock shatters against her armor, a little too close for comfort...

Setting the boar down, Ty'daal sprints forwards leaping into the air and driving his heel down towards the volcanic man's forehead.

"Your time of threatening the surface is over, human. You serve evil and shall face justice!"

(Today: Ty'daal rolled 5,2 using d6,d6 with rolls of 5,2. Flying Kick (+5). Total: +8 to hit. Damage is Strength, so 8 on that as well.)

Re: E5S6 - Kuaihelani - TK
Ty'daal:
"Human?!?" He roars "I'm no more human than you--I am the son of the volcano goddess! I do not serve evil; I serve only Pele!"

The water-shield around your feet bursts into steam as your kick makes contact--and kicking his head feels just like kicking a rock! The impact snaps his head back, and knocks him clear of the small volcanic caldera. He lands in a wide wrestler's stance, and wipes a trickle of blood/lava from the corner of his mouth with the back of one hand.

"You're strong; I almost felt that!" He bares his teeth in a menacing grin, and beckons you forward...

[OOC: The heat radiating off Honua is dangerous! It's an Aura that does 3 Stamina to anything touching him. Your Water Control defense protected you--this time!]

[OOC: Angelfish & Time Keeper can go, in any order they like. Then, Honua and Gold Tusk act!]

Re: E5S6 - Kuaihelani - TK
Ben stepped forward holding up his arms "Honua, son of Pele, I am but a human but I know of you and your parent. I am the grandson of an elder who respect your position as a god and pay that respect to you and yours on days of festival and feastings...."

He moved away from angelfish " my grandfather raised me on the legends of you and Pele and I humbly ask for your guidance and assistance. This island is the domain of a sorceress who is changing your people into animals of the sea for her own entertainment. She uses her powers to trick people.... People like my friend here who attacked you believing you to be in league with her.... It is even said that the great Honua is her servant......"

He stepped even further from his friends, if this went wrong they needed a chance to escape " I know the old ways and I know in my heart that the great Honua bows knee to no one especially a sorceress .... Thus I ask on behalf of your people and the elders of the council show what it is to cross the great Honua help us defeat this witch and put right what she had corrupted"

OOC: 22:58, Today: Time Keeper rolled 4 using 2d6-7. Intellect roll (4) . Total 8 will spend a tether inaction point to activate his connections aspect " tribal elders" to persuade him to help us in our fight.....if Ben can't use his own powers perhaps he can get some heavy hitting powers to aid his friends

Re: E5S6 - Kuaihelani - TK
Angelfish climbs to her feet, the armor has once again protected her, but there will likely be bruises tomorrow!

Ty'daal has faced off squarely with Honua and she prepares to back him up... until she here's Ben talking -

quote:
I am the grandson of an elder who respect your position as a god and pay that respect to you and yours on days of festival and feastings....

She nods, slowly.

Smart, Ben, very smart

She backs off a bit, giving Ben room to "negotiate", while still providing back-up.

Hopefully Ty'daal will see what Ben's doing... let him do the talking instead of just attacking.  Heck, this might even work!

(OOC: holding back to see if Time Keeper's speech works.  Having this guy as an ally - or even just not attacking!- would be great.)

Everyone:
Honua doesn't take his eyes off Ty'daal, but you can tell he's listening to what Ben has to say... "I am no one's servant but Pele's! It is you who obey the foreign witch--you came here escorted by one of her beasts!" He gestures at Gold Tusk, and the ground under the boar's hooves rises up like a rocky fist and grabs!

The boar squeals, first in surprise, then in pain as the dirt and rocks squeeze inward.

Honua's breath comes out as heat shimmers as he speaks. "Circe's magic bleeds into Kuaihelani! She's trying to make the sacred island her own, but I will not let that happen--I'll destroy it if I have to, to keep it safe!"

Time Keeper:
You remember from the news that Honua was responsible for the eruption of Kilauea last year on the big island--the one that would have destroyed a whole town if Haikili hadn't stopped the lava flow. He might not be kidding about being able to destroy an entire island...

Angelfish:

Oh crap!  Got to calm this guy down...

Angelfish takes a step toward Honua, trying to draw his attention, and clicks the volume up...

STOP

Dropping the volume to normal, she types as quickly as she can, trying to be as accurate as possible - mistakes at this point could get people killed!

PLS STOP  WE FITE WITCH 2  BEAST IS SLAVE  WE WANT 2 STOP WITCH  FREE BEAST  BFREE ISLNDS   HELP US FITE HER   PLS

Angelfish holds her hands out placatingly, eyes pleading...

Come on big guy, listen to reason here.  We all want the same thing...

Re: E5S6 - Kuaihelani - TK
Ben took a deep breath and stepped between the god and Angel " STOP!" he shouted " I beg of you. We are not your enemy. The vile witch is. Look at me, Look into my soul see my ancestral heritage. I am of a long line of elders, people that hold you in great reverence."

The clock maker stepped forward at the same time sending his mind out to see if he could feel the time streams that had been stripped away from him.

" My friend speaks the truth. The witch has captured these people" he indicated to the boars " and transformed them into these creatures, she did it to the crew of the boat I was on and turned them into sharks. I do not know her full plans but I know that if we do not stop her now  your people will suffer."

He took a gamble with what he said next " And they will turn away from you and the other gods, they will stop giving offerings to you, they will see that you turned your back on them and will love you no more. You and your father and the rest of the gods will go the way of other pantheons  that were worshipped by man."

"Please show your people you care and value their devotion  to you by stopping this creature before she destroys all you hold dear"

Ah Hell!

Angelfish tumbles sideways, catching the squealing, rock-bound boar in mid-tumble.

Interception!  Way to go, Miami!  She stifles a completely irrational urge to giggle madly - or spike the pig...

Instead, she gently sets the transformed animal aside and rises to her feet...

Just as Ben steps between her and Honua...

Re: E5S6 - Kuaihelani - TK
Everyone:
Honua looks from Angelfish to Ty'daal, still poised to fight, and finally back to Ben. "You are kanaka Maoli. Your words I trust." He stalks toward the stone-encased Gold Tusk and stomps the boulder, shattering it. The boar scrambles free of the rubble and limps as quickly as it can toward the trees.

"The foreign witch's magic is changing the sacred island. She's turning it into a different place. Just like she's turned fishermen into animals." He gestures at the trees beyond the shreds of mist, where Gold Tusk is fast disappearing. They're short and gnarled, with sage-green leaves, completely unlike the lush dark greens of Hawai'ian foliage. Through the shifting mists, you can see glimpses of something white beyond the trees. "Whatever spell she's cast, it will soon overwhelm all of Kuaihelani."
