Mission  A2-X5I (Garuss & Nicholas)
A Refitted Dropship upgraded to a new kind of technological breakthrough was waiting at the starport for the two Mechwarriors. How the MRBC was able to acquire this kind of refitting technology was anyone's guess. It was scheduled to be tested on Antallos but apparently due to pirate raids and a few minor delays on its maintenance, the Dropship was never even tested.

The unique genesis of the Leo, Excalibur Class Pocket WarShip, is a testament to the trifecta power of nobility, money and boardroom connections, combined with the apparent blindness of the largest military bureaucracy since the first Star League. While details remain few and not wholly confirmed, this project apparently originated with Interconnectedness Unlimited, an interstellar conglomerate currently struggling to reclaim its interstellar recognition.

In the refit, the Leo’s five cavernous troop bays were virtually gutted, and the vessel is now designated an assault DropShip which became a flying magazine. A formidable array of eight versatile AR10s and two heavy launchers capable of hurling the new Kraken ship-killers were fed from the all-but-hollow core. Carrying more than six thousand tons of capital missiles, the Leo can briefly rival the firepower of many light WarShips, while the technological upgrade of the ship’s existing weaponry, and the added hangar space for a squadron of aerospace fighters beneath the primary magazines and the main drive add to its menace. Equipped with a flag deck (normally found on cruisers or battleships), the assault dropship appears intended to serve as a flagship for special assault squadrons. Such squadrons, coincidentally enough, formed during the first ships’ debut in Operation Bulldog, and it was in this role that the refits first served. “Teething” problems with the assault ships’ fire control systems kept them from making any major contributions to the campaign, which—as much as Victor’s year-long disappearance from the Inner Sphere, small army and all—kept the new class out of the
spotlight.

The design’s greatest weaknesses, however, stemmed from the haste in which the refits were undertaken. Retaining the original engine, structure and armor, the DropShip is far more fragile than the Overlord-A3, Nekohono’o or Conquistador classes. In a bid to offset this disadvantage, engineers mounted an array of antimissile systems and screen launchers to form an impressive point
defense system.

Re: Mission  A2-X5I (Garuss & Nicholas)
Garuss was far from happy about the simulator run, the victory had been theirs, then it had been yanked from them. He didn't want to think someone was going out of their way to make his stay more uncomfortable, but after such a happening it was nagging more and more at him. Garuss grumbled to himself as he made his way up into the belly of the Dropshop. Still clad in his battle fatigues, he made his way to the mech bay within the ship to get a look at his mech for the first time.

A part of him expecting to see a Locust, missing a leg in the place of his Mongoose. Well as he actually relaxed a little, he remembered he was about to be taken to a combat zone, at least then he'd be able to vent his frustration on live targets. The din of battle would help take his mind of that frustration coursing through him. He had been impressed by Nicholas's performance, he had kept a cool head, and matched his own pace. He was a mechwarrior, and Garuss had no qualms in admitting it in the least. I wonder how he would do in clan space as a Star Adder he mused to himself, perhaps if things went well, he would duel with the spheroid, and bring him to join his clan.

He pondered for a moment, or perhaps, he'd simply like to see what it is like there, invite him to see what it is like, like I was given a chance to come here. As Garuss thought to himself, he began to look for anyone who liked they were in charge. "I am M-, Garuss Truscott, I am here for a deployment?" he glanced down to the poor crew member that had been singled out as his 'victim'.

Following in after Garuss and a lot more amused from the simulators, Nicholas was a little distracted by the possibilities that glitch in the virtual mission had offered him. A near unachievable possibility, but one could dream.

He stopped on reflex as he heard Garuss speak, picking up the carried-over irritation in his voice. Bringing himself back to reality Nicholas kept silent and alert, ready to intervene in case his team mate really took it out on his target or in case things backfire, as Nicholas fully expects it to.

One of the technician was busy reviewing the monitors while tinkering with the terminals that directly linked to the cradled Mechs. She noticed them entering the Docking Bay and proceeded to greet them.

"Are you both Garuss and Nicholas? We are just about ready to leave port and sync with Jumpship Fist. We have been notified of your mission parameters and everyone will do their part in making your trip as comfortable as possible."

"The briefing room is at Level C, just below the bridge, further details on your mission will be displayed there. Your cabins is located at Level B at the South-Wing quadrant of the ship. It will be a bit cramped in there since we are housing at full capacity on crew members."

Re: Mission  A2-X5I (Garuss & Nicholas)
Garuss gave a slight nod "thank you", then he turned and followed her directions, making his way to the briefing room to see what further details had been gained on their mission. He did however slow down enough for Nicholas to catch up, once he had, he would walk with his teammate. He was silent, deep in thought, but his body language was not shut off. Clearly he was open to conversation on input, but till then he was off in own thoughts.

Re: Mission  A2-X5I (Garuss & Nicholas)
Nicholas smiled at the technician and gave a single grateful nod. "Thanks for the cooperation and help. Appreciate it."

As he made his way to the briefing room with Garuss, he couldn't help but smirk and remark:

"Well at least whatever we'll be facing later, it can't be as surprising or painful as a couple of Mad Cats suddenly popping up and blasting us to bits. Well, unless the escorts are all heavies with advanced sensors and LRM and Thunderbolt racks. That'd be something."

Re: Mission  A2-X5I (Garuss & Nicholas)
"Aff, at least I hope the Timber Wolf has not become all that wide spread in the Sphere, a venerable design, since it's creation back in 2945" he sighed softly remembering his first time at the helm of such a machine. He smiled faintly as they walked into the briefing room, those memories of glorious battle playing in the back of his head."Let us see what information there is to be had" as the walked into the room, he glanced about taking it in, curious to see what passed for a briefing room in the Inner Sphere.
