Briefing Room [Draconis Combine]
The Draconis Combine's Briefing room was like any other rented room except for a pair of guards standing at the front of the entrance and the Combine's insignia hang at the four corners of the room. The strategical interface in the middle of the table was more advanced than any of the rented rooms.

Ike was a little nervous due to the fact that there were guards for this room, it felt quite odd. When he saw Garuss already inside though he sighed and walked in too. He took a moment to look around then dropped himself into the nearest chair.

Nicholas entered the room with and gave a low whistle as he noted the guards outside and equipment quality.

"Either they're trying to make an impression or this is a little bigger than the contract briefing suggested," he commented as he sat down, then looked to the other pilots in the room, particularly those he didn't know.

"Might as well get introductions out of the way before the real briefing starts... I'm Nicholas, callsign Heretic. Are we all here for the potentially free protomech or is there anything about this mission that I missed?"

"Well it is an new design, I guess they want to make sure everyone's who they say they are and above board or something," he shrugged and then nodded at the introduction. "Oh yeah that thing, I'm Ike Duran, callsign Foehammer."

Jacob was excited coming over here to prepare for the protomech testing, but soon felt overwhelmed at the over-the-top decoration the briefing room provided to them possessed. Not only that, but guards were also assigned to watch over things.

"H-hi... This is the place, I take it...?" Jacob asked after looking around, recognizing fellow members of Aces' Wilds present in the room.

Re: Briefing Room [Draconis Combine]
A small man holding up a brief case entered the room and quickly shuffled himself at the center of the table, in front of everybody. "Good evening." His voice sounded muffled and weak, "I am not the representative for your campaign unfortunately but.." He trailed off,  this man was nothing mere of a scientist being sent out on an errand to do what was needed. "I'm here to take your blood samples."

With that said, he clicked the briefcase open and took out a peculiar machine out that had had glow to its middle that was shaped and quite resembles a thumb-mark. "Just place your thumb at the slot and it will prick a bit but I'm sure all of you can handle that." He was mostly looking down not even trying to address them eye to eye, his nervousness around mercenaries showed a great deal of clue that he was not a man that gets out much.

He kept his head down while returning the man's remark, "I-I cannot.. or do not have authorization to divulge any information, Sir. Im just here to get blood samples as instructed of me." he gestured a hand towards the machine, "now, I need someone to kindly step forward so we can start the process and finish this."

"Such a big secret over blood?" Nicholas got up, giving a look to the others. "Anyone else here expecting this little procedure to come back and bite, maul and shred us in the ass in the future?"

He sighed and moved towards the machine. "Good luck with trying to make use of mine," he muttered with a cynical grin as he placed a thumb on the device, awaiting the prickling feeling before withdrawing. "Gods know my family had tried."

"What's the big deal?" Ike asked going over to give his blood too, he was a bit squeamish about the process but he didn't let it bother him. "These are prototypes or something right? They probably just want a record of who to blame if this mission goes horribly wrong or the blueprints suddenly appear in someone else's hands or something like that."

Adrian stood in the hall looking down the corridor at the guards standing there ... black uniforms, campaign ribbons, military patches and rank emblems, jack boots, high peak and long visored hats, blank emotionless faces ... drak-o's all the way. From stem to stern ... and automatic rifles ... He gulped ... looked at his own black uniform with the red piping ... hardly un-noticeable ... especially where the "Dragon Hunter" patch "used" to be on his right shoulder its' imprint still clearly visable ... He steadied himself and proceeded towards the door ... pausing to look each guard in the eye ... ready to draw his Browning slug thrower at a simple twitch from either ...

Re: Briefing Room [Draconis Combine]
Having arrived just at the end of the introductions and wearing a paramilitary uniform with the name “Katana” clearly labeled on it where one would expect to see a call sign and an Ace of Spades everywhere a rank insignia should be she makes no effort to formal introductions.  Stepping forward to line up for the blood machine when asked she ends up behind Ike in the order, pressing her thumb down firmly on the pad she ignores the machine until it has done it's business, instead joining in the conversation.

”You will find that you are not with your clan any more, and they can no longer protect you, if someone wants your blood all they have to do is punch you in the nose, which you will find considerably more distasteful than this box, if you have trouble with the requirements of a contract you should avoid signing up for it as the black marks you get for chickening out in the middle will tend to pile up fairly quickly.

The Aces are here to do a job, and we will see it done, if you think you can measure up to us better than Natasha Kerensky you are welcome to try, but if you are just going to whine about it we don't want to hear it.”

Re: Briefing Room [Draconis Combine]
The scientist then again tried to plead for the stubborn pilot's blood, "I can't tell you as I said befo-" The double doors opened up abruptly as more guards entered the briefing room, each planting themselves at key locations in the room. There were 3 guards on each wall and a total of 9 guards in all excluding the two outside. the air was tense and the atmosphere rigged with anticipation, as an elderly man entered the room. The scientist was about done with his work when it all happened, he just needed one last person's blood so he can be on his own. He saw the man entering and quickly bowed to his presence, "Shogun."

The man waved a hand for him to be at ease, "Have you finished everything?"

"Yes but..this person doesn't want-" Pointing at the apparent Clanner but before the scientist could finish his sentence, the olderly gentleman had already waved him off.

"It is done, you may leave."

"Sir but.."

"That will be all."

The scientist had no choice but to resign his protest and in the end he bowed his hed and collected his things. He left the room quietly as the elderly man took his spot in-front of the group. "I must apologize for the sudden inconvenience for everyone. You must understand that this project is quite well protected and secrets must always be kept behind secured doors."

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Hoek Botterfield, CEO of Luthien Armor Works. Any questions before we can begin?"

Adrian eyed the guards ... outwardly they paid him little attention ... though inwardly ? Who knew what went through the thoughts of mindwashed brains of the DC Military Soldiery ... He waited in the short line muttering something ... Damned, they coulda' got this stuff easily enough with a sponge from any of my last trip to the DCMS ... I left enough of it behind ... Then he took a seat next to Katana and waited patiently.

James comes skipping down the hallway humming an old ditty when he sees the guards outside the door and stumbles a bit as the tune comes to a dead halt. "Sorry, The name is James Gordon." he says as he pulls out his ID and shows it to the guard before entering the briefing room as the old man leaves.

Spotting someone else that looks like he is in charge, James finds a place to sit down and join in the mission briefing.

Re: Briefing Room [Draconis Combine]
"We will discuss the Protos later and will get to that soon. For now, I would like to discuss the contract details and a few minor changes to its arrangements. For one, Luthien is currently under attack and the planetary blackout has made most of the planet in disarray while communication has been cut off. Due to this recent events, it is our company's best interest and yours that the facility these Protomechs are being developed will not fall into Blakist hands. These facilities have their own standard protocol of evacuation in light of situations like these, but recent intelligence shows that they will not make it out of orbit in one piece."

"Latest satellite imagery by one of the last probes left around the planet has sent back images of orbital guns being deployed near the research facility. Those guns will reach them. Since communication has been completely cut off, there is absolutely no way to warn them. Since these images were taken a day ago before the last satellite went offline, we can't say for sure that these portrayed enemy positions are accurate." He nodded to one of two assistants that came with him. The helper merely clicked a button from a control panel by the table. The Tactical System immediately went online as a 3D imagery of the base mentioned before came into display.

"We currently have 10 Protomechs off site and in our possession during the field test done months ago in Galatea. We will not be able to accommodate your Mechs in this scenario since a large combat drop will likely get the attention of the Naval Vessels surrounding the planet. We will be using the Protos for a small tactical assault drop behind enemy lines. So this is it, gentlemen and lady..."
Noticing the female from the group as he continued on with his briefing, "You will test out the Protomechs with a live combat exercise and your objective is to destroy those orbital guns before the Supply Dropships carrying our mass-produced Protos take off for evacuation."

"There will be no more preliminary testing, your assault within the orbital base will help out our product-line escape the besieged planet while your live fighting data within the suits will be more than enough for the basis of further field testing. We will double your pay from the agreed amount of 700k. Any further questions regarding the changes?"

Re: Briefing Room [Draconis Combine]
"Time is of the essence yes, but going about this mission with haste and with no clear sight of your objective is just a failure waiting to happen. Patience is always a must and the key to victory, warrior. Preparations are already being made as I am currently discussing these details with you. It will take a day or two for them to load each individual Protos into the Dropships and It will also take our jumpships a week or two to reach the system. Whatever maybe the case, we have time to spare if we want to or not. in this case unfortunately it is the latter."

"why not use these times of waiting to wisely study up on the current situation and promote a strategy, yes? Or not and you can go ahead and help with the technical team at the Starport to load these indivdual Protomechs that you have no clear idea on how to pilot them."

"No? alright then, now let me continue on. There might be a slight chance that enemies will call for backup once you have destroyed the orbital guns. Those backups will likely consists of an assault lance of Mechs since the Blakist forward base is only a few click from the remote orbital base. You will have no choice but to retreat to the facility and take hold of our Catapult Prototype Variants which are loaded with our latest weaponries in the manufacturing plant. Since most of the staff in the facility are scientists, you people will be the only ones authorized to pilot them. Use them to destroy the reinforcements."

"I must stress out that these catapults our quite beyond all of your pay grades and do take care when piloting them and to answer the questions in everyone's minds right now. The answer is a definite no. These catapults are not available for distribution into your hands. They will be given back to us once the mission is complete."

Re: Briefing Room [Draconis Combine]
James looked up to the ceiling for a bit and pondered a few thoughts. "I guess knowing what these protomech's can do might help us come up with a plan. If we are too small for them to make us a target from space, while splitting up is never good in combat it almost sounds like a combat drop like from an Immortal Warrior holo-vid might end up being an option.  If we can make a drop on the Forward operating base at the same time as the attack on the remote orbital base, it might catch them with their pants down and prevent them from responding. While fighting an Assault mech in am over sized Battle Suit is not good, if the pilots are not in their tin cans, we can prevent them from using their mechs. Even if we just toss in a grenade in each of the cockpits and leave, it will take them out of action." he says.

"So a few questions then. Are these space capable? If so, are there small drop capsules for them? What is the range on their commo gear? Do they show up on radar?" James asks

Nicholas looked thoughtfully at the map, processing the new information in silence, keeping his inner conversation between himself from being verbalised. When he finally spoke, he tried to keep the habitual cheery pessimism out of his voice.

"Considering that this will be lethal and fun all at the same time, would I have enough clearance to ask what your protomechs are equipped with and what their capabilities are?"

He then gestured with a nod at the map. "If those are turrets I see there, what kinds are they? I'm guessing one Calliope or SRM chucker in the center, but the other four?"
