Usandru, should you maybe split the scene into two seperate scenes? Just so we don't get confused with the two separate going ons?

I suppose I can do that. Though I don't think it's nearly as important for this one as it might be for later splits.

Re: OOC - For all your nattering needs
It is, indeed, possible to do teleports. They do take some time though, and you need them to send coordinates first.

Teleports are also terribly unsubtle, but hey.

Group teleports are trickier, but hardly out of your capabilities.

In general, the factors of a teleport are "payload volume", "distance", and "coordinates". You can fairly freely screw around with all three. Non-LOS teleports require some other means of getting the coordinates though. You can "blind" teleport in the general direction of something, just be calculating the presumed coordinates, but you'll usually be off by a couple of klicks, increasing with the distance (maybe a ~100 km off target if you skipped to the other side of the planet on a blind jump - which can get dangerous).

The other key factor is gravity. Escaping the gravity well is always tricky.

(it is amazing how many things can be improved by applying gravity to it. :D)

I'm somewhat confused on hwy some posts have that small character avatar icon below them. How do you enable or disable that?

Well, basically avatars are not retroactive. Generally so that you can change them in response to events without altering appearance otherwise.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, otherwise?

Y'know, you'd probably have better luck in the SB OOC, since people actually get alerts from that. =P

Re: OOC - For all your nattering needs
Yanno, I should probably have put this into my IC post - but I did in fact consider the possibility of bombarding the fog.

But its apparent magic-absorption capabilities worry me. The fog is not solid - there's no guarantee that a bombardment would "break" it, so to speak, or dissipate it - I consider it a possibility that unless using the correct type of counterspell, using magic against the fog will cause it to expand.

It might not, but then, it might. *shrug*

So I opted to charge right in, because, spoiler spoiler, Namlos isn't hindered too badly if you just remove his eyesight and ability to sense magic. And, uh, suffice to say that not a lot of people could last against him in close quarters for very long, which any combat within the fog is likely to be.

'Course, our dear Chocobo riders here might just have some device that lets them see through the fog, but even so I'm pretty sure that they're not much of a threat.

Re: OOC - For all your nattering needs
Yeah, we discussed artillerying it, but between me mighty and al we didn't in the end mostly because Usandru kept doing ':3'at us. >.>

Re: OOC - For all your nattering needs
In reply to Theodore Sharpe (msg # 28):

It was not strictly that. Like I said, there's evidence that it'd be a bad idea. I don't think "bombardment magic" is unknown to these people, even if only in the form of, say, a magical cannon-equivalent (as compared to the musket-equivalents they're using now).

While Usa going ":3" at us is suspicious, Usa could've been messing with us and it might be that bombardment magic /is/ the best option - sometimes the simplest thing to do is the best. Tricking us into overthinking it is precisely what someone like Usa or me might do in this situation.

I know that, but regardless, you dived in, and there is little we can do now, but hope you succeed.

quote:
<"Basically, he used a magic weapon designed to have minimal lethality.>" And that was the easy question.

Noo, nitpickery about stuff-you-couldn't-know-about-but-I'm-going-to-whine-about-anyway incoming~~

Arondight is quite sharp and fairly lethal if you stab someone with it, and I'm not even sure Namlos used any magic in that fight, and if he did, it was solely speed-boosting magic. Now, now, some people might use spells for that, and that is perfectly sensible, but Namlos is hardly sensible and instead prefers to hit people with the flat of the blade so hard they fall down but not so hard they get permanently hurt. Which is a pretty big hassle.

... very mana-efficient, though.

Re: OOC - For all your nattering needs
In reply to Namlos Blitzklinge (msg # 32):

You were transformed and Arondight is a device. Standard TSAB regs apply and cause you to coat your melee type device in "magic foam" to prevent lethality. You can disable this, but it requires either a modification of the device, or actively deactivating the spell. Both of which are, obviously, highly illegal to do.

You may elect to have disabled that security feature if you like. Just tell me right now, so that I can remember it~

Re: OOC - For all your nattering needs
Ah, looking at Arondight in Namlos' char sheet - and never being contradicted - I assumed I'd have to specifically activate the magic-foam stuff. Never mind them.

I still maintain that Namlos totes' doesn't actually need it to non-lethally disable some random Space Mongols. :V

Please.

Don't.

The last thing we need is actual murder charges.

Also, Claire would hate on you so hard.

Oh, please, not going to. Just saying Namlos could do it. In theory. If it was ever needed. Or he just wanted to save on mana. Or he wanted to show off. Or just plain felt like it. :V

Meow.

edit: Oh dear. I just realized that Namlos' Virtue effectively prevents him from backing down from a fight.

You'll need to be somewhat more specific if you want me to recap something!

The short version though is that you and Theodore (Duzzit) are currently in the company of one of the nomads - a particularly powerful one at that, you suspect - who is guiding you around the great market.

Pretty sure he meant he can't remember what Mattias' Virtue was (as a response to my post just above).
