Sorry.  Just.  Where did you go?  Before?

Um.  Let's try this.  What day is it?

In reply to Uthor son of Magnusson (msg # 583):

Today, as it always is.  What, do I have the countenance of a coma patient?  Am I pale?  Shakey?

Alveris touches his face and pantomimes looking for a mirror.  He does look a bit wobbly.

Uthor looks at Alveris, head cocked to one side.

Yeah, a bit.  Where were you five minutes ago?  What were you doing?

Re: The Game

In reply to Uthor son of Magnusson (msg # 587):

Wow, yes, this IS fun!  First I hope to be treated like an intruder, then like a mental patient, THEN like a walking court recorder.  My bucket list is complete, well, except for that ONE thing with the Maiden of Hillpool, TWO things really but it's all one night so it counts as one.

Where was I?

Oh, right, explaining to you that I've been in my quarters which is why, thankfully, you haven't seen me.

Now, if we're done playing at questions, I have important places to be and exciting things to do.

Lately, none of those have been on this ship, but it's worth a look, right?

Alveris begins to march off toward the Helm.

Um... right.  As you were then.

Uthor heads to the nearest intercom.

Cap'n... I've found Alveris.

He follows the fey at a distance.

Re: The Game

In reply to Uthor son of Magnusson (msg # 589):

Alveris moves quickly toward the bridge, intermittently stopping and starting suddenly to try to trip up the Gnome following him.

You can hear him singing softly something that goes "me and my shaaaaaadow!"

When the door to the bridge is opened, Alveris leaps in.

Expecting me?  Normally I'd never do anything predictable, lifestyle choice, maybe personal idiom, which is why I decided to show up!  Didn't expect that did you?

In reply to Alveris Alderis (msg # 590):

Olek stands with his back to the Fey for a moment as a clear demonstration of who is in charge.

Ah, there you are are.  Wonderful, it looks as if my First Officer has rushed off to his death for no reason, I'm glad that you gave us this merry chase I...  Olek trails off, staring intently at the Red Mantle on Alveris' head.  He looks toward Uthor.

Well then, you gave us quite a run.  Conrad and James went looking for you, James in particular seemed rather distraught.  You wouldn't have any idea where they'd think to look for you would you?

Re: The Game

In reply to Uthor son of Magnusson (msg # 594):

If I had to guess, I'd say practicing his marching or being busy not being as good looking as me, but I don't have to guess.  He's onboard the Red Spring, only not YOUR Red Spring, mine.  You've probably figured out that this Magneto Helmet of mine lets me jump between worlds.  Or realities, or something.  Maybe not, but the long and short of it is I'm basically a galaxy-hopping God.

Oh, right.  Conrad.

He's my prisoner, not James, James is fine.  Having a nice chat with his daddy or something, what do I care?

Wait for dramatic pause to take effect.

No, I'm just messing with you!  Conrad is fine, I'm sure he is.  Well, not so much 'sure' as, 'I don't really know'.

Or maybe I'm telling the truth.

Re: The Game

In reply to Olek Longthrow (msg # 596):

Alveris begins to sway visibly.

Sure I do, what's it worth to you?

Nah, I'm just kidding, you've got nothing valuable.

I'm mostly here to have a look around, take in the sights, try the room service.  Maybe this dimension can be my summer home.  Now that I've seen it though, I'm not really feeling it.  Decor is too bland.

God Olek, AT LEAST some throw pillows, a Chinese Sex Wheel, wet bar...

As he speaks, Alveris first leans on a console for support, then slowly sinks to his knees.

Come to think of it, I'm not feeling so hot.

Amazing maybe, sexy, dashing, but not well.

With that, Alveris pops out of reality.

I was hoping you could tell me, Lad.  After you left we THOUGHT we had Alveris back for a moment.  Turns out it was... someone else from somewhere else.

Olek glances at Uthor.

Where did you find him?

Alveris says something noncommittal, eccentric and most likely about his penis.

He wanders off in the direction of his cabin.

Could SOMEONE tell me where you all have been?

From his tone, Olek is as exhausted by the whole affair as he is angry.  His face isn't as red as it normally gets and his veins aren't quite as popped.  He has dark circles under his eyes indicating he hasn't slept in some time.

Re: The Game

In reply to Olek Longthrow (msg # 603):

"Aye, sir. The helmet seems to move you to another world almost like our own, with the same people and the same events. The outcomes aren't always the same, though. James was killed by that goblin in the one we went to, and in another you yourself had perished -- though we never learned how."

He scowls.

"I'd rather assume it's all smoke and mirrors and feyic trickery, because the alternative is too bizarre to comprehend. Regardless, that is where we found Alveris. We told him a few things that only happened in our version of reality, and he came with us."

Fireface also learned of a traitor in his midst, Conrad muses, keeping this last bit to himself. I wonder if it's the same as ours.

In reply to Conrad Deepsavior (msg # 604):

For once, Lad, Feyic trickery is preferable to... whatever unholy mess you just described.  Other worlds?  No wonder Schtock and his men were interested in it.
