Re: The Game

In reply to Conrad son of Leif (msg # 35):

Not particularlly, no.

With a noticable bounce in his step, Alveris darts back to his quarters; you could swear you hear him whistling as he bounds away.

"Undersea intrigue! I knew I'd get the chance to stab a sea horse; I just knew it!"

"I'll be back in a flash Connie. I need to change into my battle garb and begin centering my auras".

Alveris arrives in his room and continues drinking wine. Looking over both shoulders to satisfy he is alone, Alveris pulls a small case from his luggage. The case opens and reveals <OOC> SWIMMING GOGGLES <OOC> a technologically advanced Gnomish occular assembly. Alveris straps the assembly on, giddily eyeing himself as he twirls his knives in his hands.

"You won't get away from me this time seahorse!"

In reply to Alveris Alderis (msg # 36):

A minute later, there is a worried gurgling noise and a loud thud from Alveris/James' cabin.

(no Notice check required, it's loud)

Re: The Game

In reply to GM (msg # 37):

Conrad, waiting just outside the room, bangs on the hatch with a series of three curt raps.

"The hell was that?!  Brace yourselves, Fey; I'm coming in."

Conrad seizes the hatch's opening apparatus and flings it open, bursting into the room with all the force his squat, powerful body can muster.

Re: The Game

In reply to GM (msg # 37):

James fell into a brooding silence (breaking only to give instruction to the singing sailor next to him) and began drinking heavily after the news of the mirror that reports directly to the fey court and began sweating a bit.

*THUD*

James jumps, and looks around....

"shounds like something just went boom in my room"

James says chuckling at the rhyme.  He heavily lurches to his feet, pats the gnome sailor next to him on the head and says

"Its too bad I need to go check that noise out… you were just starting to get good at it"

James wanders drunkenly towards the noise.

Re: The Game

In reply to James (msg # 39):

James swaggers down the hall just in time to see Conrad muscle open the hatch to the Officer's Quarters and stomp in.

Alveris is lying on the floor, unconscious but breathing and drooling (somehow dashingly).

Re: The Game

In reply to GM (msg # 40):

Conrad sighs upon seeing the crumpled form of Alveris, placing his hands upon his hips.

"See, this is why we shouldn't serve stout to the pansybloods."

He takes a moment to glance around anyway, though, before touching his companion's still form.

The slow, ragged breathing can be heard easily with his mouth drooped open like that, Conrad thinks.  So he's obviously alive, but you can't be too careful.

Notice roll: 4

"No need to alert the bridge just yet," he mutters under his breath.  Nonetheless, he reaches behind his back to loosen his Gnomish weapon as his eyes dart back and forth.  Just in case.

Re: The Game

In reply to Conrad son of Leif (msg # 41):

There is nothing particularly amiss about the cabin.  It is clean, save for the Fey clothes draped over things and a wine stain here or there.

Aside from Alveris and James' possessions, there are many small barrels of wine in a neat pyramid, and an empty glass set on a table.

Re: The Game

In reply to GM (msg # 42):

Seeing nothing amiss, Conrad checks Alveris for wounds.

Notice check: 1,1 (critical fail)

Finding nothing of note (and likely tripping over him in the process), he shakes Alveris -- none too gently.

"No time to sleep it off; there's work to do.  And if you can't hold your drink, Fey, you'd best stop guzzling it down..."

Re: The Game

In reply to Conrad son of Leif (msg # 41):

Who are you calling a pansyblood half stack.  I can hold my *hic* drink as well as any gnome.  Hell my singing companion was asleep on the table when I left

James indignitently replies taking a swig out of his glass that he carried with him.  He pushes Conrad off of Alveris

Shtop doing that your only making it worse

James wanders over by his sleeping area, spilling the stout on his way.

Don't worry I can fix this

He rummages in his belongings for a minute; stumbles and crumples gracelessly to the floor.  He removes a large black bag from near his sleeping area; slides it next to Alveris; crawls next to and produces a tongue depressor with a flourish (sleight of hand roll 3) that he fumbles.

Healing Roll: 7

Re: The Game

In reply to James (msg # 44):

Conrad, being a terribly observant type of Gnome, realizes there is another large Gnome crouching in the corner of the cabin.  He locks his eyes on the newcomer and the other Gnome does the same.

After a half minute, Conrad realizes the other Gnome is his own reflection in the mirror...  He shakes his head and resumes looking over Alveris.

James crowds in beside him and drops several tongue depressors on the floor.  He then uses one to open Alveris' mouth.

Re: The Game

In reply to GM (msg # 45):

Stars were born, burned bright, and went supernova all within the bounds of Alveris's Alderis's head. To most people, the skullsplitting agony of feeling a star go supernova in your head (metaphorically, I've got a pretty big ego, but I'm not implying the cosmos can fit in my head. Jesus.) would be the kind of incapacitating, life altering experience that would irrevocably damage one's sense of reality.

For Alveris Alderis, a dance with the oil from the skin of the rare Nova Fruit was a regrettably frequent occurence.

Fuck Puck.

As reality begins to assert a fragile grip on Alveris, he senses a presence on top of him. Unable to yet see (and managing to decipher the weight on his body only through a learned and precise understanding of exactly how much pressure his well honed body should be exerting with respect to gravity at their current depth/pressurization and in deference to his supine position [What? I take my physique seriously], Alveris throws a half hearted punch (Fight 2) at his would be assailant, now pressing something firm and undesired against his mouth. Trusting his own arrogance and relying on the weight calculations he'd performed, Alveris's almost inaudibly mumbles:

"Jesus James. I knew you were eager to get something in my mouth, but taking advantage of me while I'm passed out? I can't say I'm not impressed with your determination, but you should be ashamed of yourself. Connie, can get you this hopeless romantic off me and get me a glass of ice wine? There's nothing that cures a hangover like the beginning of another good buzz."

Re: The Game

In reply to Alveris Alderis (msg # 46):

James awkwardly leans over Alveris' face covering his words with my legs.

"He wakes... but just barely.  Connie don't move an inch towards that wine skin... and stop looking at yourself in the damn mirror.  Go tell the captain that our new communications officer has had a nasty accident involving tainted beverage.  That my medical opinion is that our esteemed officer needs to dry out for a bit to let the toxins clear out his body.  We may have to consider dumping his wine yet but that will be a decision I have to make at a later time.  If he gets any worse I may have to have him quarantined.  Now go get the captain move move!!"  (Persuasion 16)

James' head snaps around to another crewmate "I need you and a few of our other member to ensure that Mr. Alderis does not try to drink anything or his condition may worsen and thereby compromise the mission."

James leans back down to Alveris "That is for trying to stick me shoveling coal... don't do it again or I'll make Puck the least of your worries"

James kisses Alveris on the forehead and begins walking while directing the other gnomes that had gathered towards the excitement.

"Take this wine out of this room and to cargo hold, make sure that only I have access to it.  I will test it later to ensure the mission and crew are not compromised."

Re: The Game

In reply to James (msg # 47):

The Gnomes hanging around rush to clear the quarters of wine barrels, heaving them onto broad sailor's shoulders and clambering out.

Alveris draws himself slowly but gracefully to his feet, though he is still a little unsteady.

The Gnomes quickly clear the room of wine.  The last barrel, however, shifts suddenly and the Gnome drops it with a curse and the clatter of wood on metal.

With maximal plot-induced flare, the lid pops off.  A small goblin leaps out and lunges for James while shouting in thick Goblin.

The Goblin catches you all of guard (first round, only he gets to act).  With scrappy determination, he latches onto James and climbs up onto his back, wrapping a rusty garrot wire about the Fey's neck (Fighting 7).

Initiative Drawn:
Alveris - 6 of clubs (4th)
Conrad - Jack of Diamonds (first)
Goblin - 10 of spades (2nd)
James - 9 of hearts (3rd)

Reminders:
-You are all standing
-You are all close enough to step and make a melee attack on anyone else in the room
-the room is dim, but not dark
-Alveris is still suffering from effects of whatever he drank (-1 to all skill and attack roll)
-Assassin's stats are on NPC thread
-Shooting/throwing into melee is dangerous
-Drawing a weapon, if you haven't already, is an action

Re: The Game

In reply to GM (msg # 48):

Conrad, who had turned toward the door to spread the news of the tainted wine casks, stops short when the guttural screams of the goblin punctuate the cabin's sobriety.  So to speak.

He reaches for the odd-looking contraption strapped across his back, then pauses.

Nah, that'll kill it. he thinks, frowning.

"I doubt you speak a civilized language, but just in case you do..." Conrad begins, walking toward the snarling creature with unnerving calm and seeming indifference to the rusty device sinking ever deeper into his colleague's throat.

"You are trespassing on military property, are certainly a stowaway, and are currently engaged in aggravated assault -- in these quarters, I figure that's a capital crime."

He continues to advance toward the goblin as he speaks, cracking his knuckles absently.

"As the ranking officer present, I hereby declare you under arrest for the crimes stated.  You will be escorted to the brig for questioning regarding further charges of smuggling, mutiny, and contaminating the naval food supply."

Conrad turns to the other gnomes around him and motions for them to join him.

"Looks like he's resisting arrest.  Take him alive!"

During this discourse, Conrad has moved from the doorway to an arms length from James.  Now in range, he uncoils a powerful fist aimed squarely at the goblin's head.

Fighting: 4

The goblin pulls his head back as Conrad's fist punctures the air where it used to be, and Conrad grunts with frustration.

Don't get too cocky if the crew doesn't finish you off in the next few seconds, he thinks, recovering his balance to throw another punch.  The next one won't miss.

In reply to Conrad son of Leif (msg # 50):

The goblin makes a noise half between a giggle, a chortle and flatulence.

He digs his heels into James' back and pulls the garrot tight!

James gains 1 level of Fatigued (-1 to rolls, the 2nd level, Exhausted, is -2 to all rolls, the third is incapacitation, the 4th is death by asphyxiation).

Re: The Game

In reply to James (msg # 52):

"I swear I had a witty pun for this. Something about big things in small packages."

Alveris takes a swing at the goblin, focusing specifically on the hand (pick one at GM's discretion) gripping the garrotte (Fighting 4).

"Connie, Jamie, you sure have a funny way of rescuing a guy."

<OOC TO GM> Where are my knives? We're in my bunk, so I'm hoping for reasonable proximity. If they are within a reasonable distance, please assume that my action is geared both at breaking the goblin's grip on James, and moving my person close to my knives.

If they are on my person, please assume my fighting roll to be a swipe of my knives directly at the grip of the goblin. <OOC>

Re: The Game

In reply to Alveris Alderis (msg # 53):

<OOG to Alveris> Depends where you left them.  If they're on your person, it's an action to draw and ready them.  If they're in your bunk, I'll assume you walk over to them after punching at the goblin and can draw/ready them as an action next round.  Readying is an automatic action (no roll) but still an action, so you incur multi-action penalties on any other action that turn as normal.

Next round:

Alveris: 3 of spades (4th)
Conrad: 9 of spades (1st)
Goblin: 5 of hearts (2nd)
James: 4 of diamonds (3rd)

Re: The Game

In reply to GM (msg # 54):

Conrad frowns at James' reddening complexion, his eyes becoming even more serious than usual.

"Looks like you've earned yourself an upgrade from aggravated assault to attempted murder."

He steadies himself and takes another mighty swing at the goblin.

[Fighting: 4.  Again.]

Conrad growls with anger as his fist once again sails over the squirming goblin's figure, and he turns to look over his shoulder at where his subordinates had been moments before.

"Don't just stand there gawking like a smitten schoolmarm.  Lt. Flynn, go to the brig and bring back some restraints.  Ensign Bjork, retrieve a medkit.

Conrad cracks his knuckles and glowers at the goblin dangerously.  "And, Ensign?  Be sure to grab some smelling salts to revive our prisoner while you're at it.  That's an order. Go!"

All Gnomes within earshot dash off to fetch restraints and supplies.

The goblin adds another twist to the wire sinking ever deeper into James' throat.

James is now Exhausted (-2 to all actions).

The goblin hisses and spits at the gnome and fey waving their arms about ineffectually.

Fuck. James seems like kind of a tool, but I'll never get all the blood and smell of dead body out of this place if I let him die.
