Ninja

[FIELDSET="Application"]Name: Ian Night Ninja

Place of Study & Major:  Overton University, Weapons

Power: Night Vision "Shadow Sight"
Insubstantial "Shadow Form", Teleportation "Shadow Step", "Dark Doors"

Background: One thing that never seems to change in Ian's dorm room is the duffle bag leaning in the corner. The contents may change, but the location remains the same and it never seems to move. If Ian takes it places, he always puts it back.

Even now, Ian can't help but think of himself as a military brat. Where's he from? All over really. But he was born in the south and that is where his family spent most of their time, just not in one state. Ian has lived other places in the country besides the south, and even out of the country a few times.

Ian's dad, Trevor, called himself a transport troop. Although, Ian could never get confirmation, he suspected that his dad drove things like armored personnel carriers. His mom, Dannika, was a freelance artist who worked as a cosmetologist as well. So whenever the family had moved, she could easily continue to bring in extra money.

Then there was Ian's little sister, Cassie. Ian considered himself a military brat. Cassie was just a BRAT. The less he had to put up with the little diva the better. Getting out of the same house had made it a lot easier.

College has been very good for Ian, especially considering his abilities. Not that Ian ever had trouble getting along with people. Quite the opposite. Ian was able to make friends everywhere he went. He just had a fear that his abilities might alienate him from others a little. No one ever trusted the sneaky guy.

That was one reason that he decided to focus on weapons as a major instead of subtlety. His powers already made him kind of subtle. And he was decent in close and ranged combat as well. So weapons looked like the perfect choice to help round him out. Being well-rounded was a good teamwork move.

That was the thing about most teams, everybody wanted to be the leader. Ian was fine being the teamwork or team support guy. It was fun to try and be versatile and to fill in the gaps. Besides, who didn't want to play around with every weapon they could get their hands on? Sure Blasters and Bricks had a lot of power, but their attack strategies were largely the same each time. A laser rifle had a lot of power too and if you could follow that with a glue bomb? Voila.

So Ian prided himself on being able to be the versatile little ninja that every team needed. He worked as hard at that as he had on learning to be proficient with every weapon that came along.

Ian thought he would be a good hero overall. His exposure to military life had given him a certain love for stability, but joining the ranks would be too regimented for him. He guessed the military gave him a certain drive to serve, but that could be done plenty of ways in civilian life. His powers gave him the perfect opportunity to serve, and the freedom to do it on his own terms. Beautiful.

Description:Ian sports what might be called an athletic or toned body style. On his 5 foot 10 inch frame, he carries 180 pounds. That is about 8 pounds of muscle above average. But instead of being bulked up, Ian tries to keep his body sleek.

Ian likes to keep his dark brown hair easily manageable. He has often been seen clean shaven, but has also been known to sport a well trimmed goatee at times. His dark brown eyes may he seen less often, because Ian likes to wear sunglasses at every available opportunity. He loves his shades.

Ian prefers lightweight, casual clothing. Besides being the most comfortable, he feels they help him blend in with most people both visually and psychologically.

In contrast, as "Ninja, Hero In DarknessĀ®", he doesn't mind looking a little surprising, and even intimidating when needed. So he dresses as appropriate.

Personality: Ian is happy-go-lucky, as much by choice as by nature. He likes to have fun while he tackles the challenge of each day, but he does have both a serious and an introverted side. Over the years, Ian has become a good listener, and tries to have patience with the flaws of others, even as he tries to overcome his own shortcomings.

His motto? "Be true." To yourself as well as others.

Ian tries to get along with everyone. For those it doesn't work with, he tries to keep as much distance as possible.

During his downtime, Ian likes to keep tabs on the latest events concerning all other Supers and Powereds. He likes to analyze their actions to help him incorporate new combat moves or weed out any weak spots. But in truth, he has an admiration for all those who have powers, even some of the bad guys.

Part of this may be due to Ian's love for possibilities. His other hobbies include daydreaming and immersing himself in as much speculative fiction as he can. If an evil overlord from another dimension shows up to take over the world, Ian won't be as shocked as most. He will be kind of stoked.

Ian hates cruelty, bullying, and meanness in general. People should help each other where they can, or stay out of their way otherwise. When people intentionally take advantage of or hurt other people, things turn really bad, really quick.

Roleplay Sample: [To Do] Give me an RP sample that showcases your average post. Don't try to wow me with the best post you've ever done, give me what you think is your average effort.

Actual character sheets are not required at this point -- but you're free to make them if you want.

Feel free to add other sections to your application. The more thought you appear to have put into your character, the better. Don't feel like you have to limit yourself to these sections if you have more you want to share.

=Classic Gamer;8283917:
This is a very interesting concept and work up. I hope to put in a nice application in the next day or so. Just have to find that "perfect" hero idea. ;)

[Spoilerbutton=NPCs]

"The Crew"

Techie
Sugar Hopkins aka Tinker Belle (Tech Savant)

Occultist
Bathsheba of the Infinite Gates "Batty"
(Expertise : Magic, Unknown Mystical Powers)

Mentalist
Traci Tattler aka Mischief (Mind Reading, Possession)

The Key
Dayton Sinclair - Rich, Gorgeous, Famous, Well Connected, Charmer (Emotion Control, Empathy)

[/Spoilerbutton]

[Spoilerbutton=Notable Skills]Close Combat, Insight, Investigation, Perception, Ranged Combat, Stealth, Technology
[/Spoilerbutton]

[Spoilerbutton=Plot Hook] For some reason, Weapons Masters everywhere want to take Ninja out. Most are villains who claim to want to win the title of being the best, but some anti-heroes and maybe even a few heroes are out to take notes Ninja down. Ian suspects that someone else may be primarily behind the matter, either paying off or blackmailing Weapons Masters to go after Ninja. Some of these opponents show up when the hero team is already engaged with other villains. The Weapons Masters either join with the other villains or continue along their own agenda as a type of (distracting and complicating) subplot.

Roleplay Sample

Riley had made it this far without compromising his secret identity. If he could help it, he would make it even farther. But in addition to his companions, there was a whole village of people about to be under attack. He couldn't just find a quiet spot to sit this one out. Although, maybe he could find a spot to fight back from that helped maintain his near-anonymity.

Riley glanced around for the best time to make a break for it, and when he thought that he had found it, he ran full speed toward the big tree. He didn't try to follow the villagers though. No, instead he made his way around it to the back where no one could see him. Then he switched to ghost form. Which meant no need could really see him now because he was invisible.

Not waiting around to see if anyone noticed, Riley flew himself up into the canopy of the tree and found a safe spot to linger where he could see the attack. From there, he would blast away at the monsters. True someone was bound to see the shimmer of the ectoplasm attacks, but Riley could blame that on a weapon later if he needed to do that.

There was just one more thing nagging at Riley's mind. That third question, the one about his favorite color. Riley thought he should have answered it. "Blue. No, yellOOOOOOOW!!"
