Temple of Hestia
Temple of Hestia (Location 21)
This is the only stone structure in Orlane. A wall of granite blocks surrounds the temple, and sturdy wooden gates give access to a courtyard. The temple is on the
highest piece of land in Orlanea full 20' above the stream and pond.

In the daylight hours, the Temple gates stand open.

Re: Temple of Hestia
The granite wall around the temple is 20' high. The gates are strong and wooden. Carved into them with precise craftsmanship is an ornate carving of the goddess Hestia, portrayed as a beautiful young woman. The temple building itself is made of solid granite blocks, and is completely windowless.

During the day, the courtyard is open. A broad path leads to the doors of the temple. The courtyard itself is empty except for a gardener, and its grounds are not well tended.

The gardener looks over from where he leans against an overgrown birdbath.
"Nothing to see here, move on inside!"

Inside is the Temple Sanctuary.
This large room has a tile floor decorated with an abstract mosaic pattern in orange, tan, brown, and blue. Several tapestries decorate the walls, all depicting scenes of lush farmland and crops in various stages of maturity. Five huge elm trunks serve as columns in the room, and a statue of Hestia, carved from a solid piece of jade, is mounted on a low dais at the north end of the room.

a slender and attractive young woman in clerics robes approaches the party.
"I am Misha Devi, how may I help you?"

Aymery is suddenly very self-conscious of his garish mercenaries' clothes and the lingering smell of Troglodyte blood on his bastard sword. He edges toward the rear of the group. I'm not exactly dressed for church...

In reply to Aymery Guironne (msg # 3):

Quoril looks around at his companions.

I assume we won't just say "we were wondering why all the evil in this temple?"

He blinks and tries to think of a good lie, and he can't....then he thinks of the Inn and the town. Once the glamour wears off the Sheriff he would become hostile.

Quoril didn't want to sit idly while the bad guys hatch another trap. So he just smiles and decides to play the fool, maybe they will just think him mad.

Oh my, you are lovely... he then acts like he is snapping out of a trance

I am so sorry, that was quite inappropriate. I am Quoril Silversgleaming, wizard at large and these are my boon friends who have names (and skills) as well.

He walks around in a circle coming back to the cleric.

Ignore the slight smell of Trog, we have been on a little adventure. In fact, adventure is what brings us here. Rumors of malfieance brought us here. It seems that travelers, merchants and even the spirits think this place is rotten...but all we've seen is an overly paranoid constabulary, a singular monster and people who seem to enjoy too much narcotics.

He looks at her and smiles.

I apologize again for my forwardness but I a cannot believe one as lovely as you could be so tainted...

His eye budgie with excitement

Of course, thank you kind spirits... we must rescue this fair priestess.

He whispers loudly...

please holy one tell us what vile thing accosts you and we shall defeat it.

OOC:  so somebody can intercede and just say I am mad.... But I am hoping to trick her into talking more than she would like. Sure she isn't going to just give it all away, but in her bewilderment she might drop a clue...maybe?

So D20 +level, +attribute,  +background

But I am not sure exactly which attribute this falls under , and if one of my backgrounds work. So here is my overly detailed thoughts

+1 level, that is at least objective.

I am trying to confuse her here so I would think that INT +4 would be the attribute. BUT I could see CHA +2 (even WIS) +1

As far a background, I envision as Noble born and a wanderer I have learned to divert attention away from who I am by acting crazy. YET again, both backgrounds are a reach. (And both are +2)

So, I will roll and Grimm can decide what modifiers fit.
20:06, Today: Quoril Silversgleaming rolled 17 using 1d20. Befuddle the Cleric .

Also, if I have doomed us to a big fight we aren't prepared for I apologize in advance.

OOC: If anyone has a Priestess Icon Relationship, you may roll it now!

At Quoril's words, Misha Devi's eyes go slightly fearful and she takes a step backwards.
"You have harmed a Trog?"
She composes herself as she glances at the rest of the party.
"I assure you Elf, you are the only one in this fair village that needs rescue. You and possibly your friends who let a madman speak for them."
She glances behind her, towards a door in the back of the Temple.
"You should all sit and pray. I will gather tools for blessing and calming you."

OOC: Quoril, you did succeed at your roll.

OOC: Can I still follow a trail in here or did it end at the door?

As Quoril and Misha are having their exchange, I pace about the temple examining for signs of the trog's presence. When I hear Misha speak of "blessing and calming" us, I am immediately suspicious.

OOC: I am very skeptical of Misha's intent, I think given half a chance she could attempt to put us under the sway that we have already seen many of the townsfolk befuddled by. So...

18:30, Mon 05 Aug 2013: Laas Yah-Nir rolled 16 using 1d20+7 ((9)).(sense motive) Wis+level+familiar=+7 to roll. Umbra can perhaps smell a lie.

Doc guffaws at the invitation to religiosity. "Wot? Sit and pray when I could be playing with these tools you say you'll gather? I think the superior choice here is obvious." Doc muddles over to Misha's side as if to escort her in gathering tools.

"What've you got missy?" he says with honest interest.

"Last batch of tools I gathered were nearly gone to waste. So yeah, that swampy trog deserved wot he got."

Doc stretches to feel his sore back muscles again. Seeing the priestess not moving toward the back door and ostensibly tools as fast as he'd like, he takes her hand and tugs her along. "Come come, missy, on with the tools. The world won't just wait around to be astounded by Hickoryhock's next jaw-dropper."

"Yes, let's all go see what you have back there." I look at Aymery and jerk my head in the direction of the door at the back of the temple, "A little birdie told me your intentions were not pure." I fix Misha with a hard and disapproving stare before walking purposefully towards the back holding my staff in a guarded position in front of me.

OOC: Let's get a head count of who is semi-force-ably proceeding to the back rooms?
I'm assuming Laas and Hickoryhock, so I just need to know if Quoril and Aymery are following.

OOC: The Temple Map is located in the GAME MAP tab. Use the Pull Down menu at the bottom of the map screen to access "Map/Image for group O"

Misha Devi steps back with wide eyes as Laas, Hickoryhock, and Quoril advance towards the doors in back.
Opening the door on the left, Laas hears a woman yelling in fear and anger from the room behind the door ahead. (Marked on the Map)
The hallway is thick with Trog smell.
