Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
The metal head comes freed with a loud metal crunch and screech, and then his heavy body hits the ground.

The villagers all clap each other on the back and cheer for the heroes, while staying a respectful distance from the large wolf.

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
Solrin takes a deep breath as the villagers cheer and he turns to regard them, "You are safe now thanks to these two brave souls," he says indicating the other two elves. "Please honor my help by seeing that these three receive a proper burial outside your town. They were vicious thugs, but still deserve to go on to whatever afterlife awaits them beyond this world."

Turning to Quoril and Laas he gives a respectful nod, "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Solrin Raenafael, of the High Guard."

In reply to Solrin Raenafael (msg # 26):

Quoril bows slightly,

Well met Solrin Raenfael, I am Quoril Silversgleaming...

I honor you and your the house of Raenfael. At the mage's tower we fought alongside Elohir Raenfael and he stood bravely with us against an ancient evil thing.

The Naga struck him down, and he sleeps in a meadow guarded by ancient trees, serenaded by the birds.

But that poetry is the realm of my colleague whom I shall not take away the right of introduction.

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
"So, he is dead as my family feared. A single leaf fell off the Silver Oak, a tree sustained by ancient life magics. Each time a new member of the house is born it grows a leaf and each time one if us passes to the next life one withers and falls. Elohir, my brother, was the only one of our house unaccounted for. Sent on some errand by the Archmage- the human sorcerer will pay for this I swear," Solrin replied, a tinge of sadness then anger creeping into his voice.

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
Quick as a flash, the wolf reverts back to the familiar humanoid form. Laas leans on his oakenstaff while he catches his breath.

"Honored to meet you, Solrin. I am known as Laas Yah-Nir. Your brother was a true ally even though our time with him was short. As Quoril said, we buried him in a secluded meadow within the woods I call home. It is a sacred place and we honored him as best we could. We can take you to see him if you have anything you wish to say to him...you'll have to forgive me as I'm not familiar with high elf burial rites or the like."
Laas points off into the distance where the nearby forest can be seen from the village outskirts.

An almost imperceptible shake of his head precedes his response, "If he has been buried then I am content, you have my thanks. All that I need say to him I shall in the next world."

Laas nods in understanding, then moves over to the still forms of the metallic man, the dwarf and the robed mage in succession, searching them each briefly for some sort of evidence.

OOC: Perhaps they are carrying a missive from the Archmage or something of that sort?

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
OOC: Thanks to Quoril's Icon roll, there is a note!

Laas finds a scroll on the yellow robed man. It's in the secret language of mages, but Quoril can decipher it.

Our experiments are drawing unwanted attention. Your task is to shut down the tower near the village of Orlane permanently. Cleanse the village as well. It is an unfortunate incident, but we must be sure nothing from Throne Point has gained a foothold there.
No report or evidence is required, my spies have already gathered the information on what now lurks in the tower.
Proceed with utmost haste.
       - Bhir Vedi

Quoril knows that Bhir Vedi is a wizard with a tower near the Queens Wood, close to the Halfling town of Burrow.

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
"These human wizards would strike down innocents simply on the chance that there was corruption. Truly they do not value the lives of their brothers and sisters. If they did they would take time and effort to study the matter, seek help and cure for those blighted, and only as a last resort seek to cleanse by force. Pathetic," Solrin responded as Quoril read the message.

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
"I feel this village will not be truly safe until we deal with this wizard. I think we owe Elohir that much, he sacrificed himself so that these people might live. To order such wanton destruction of life is abhorrent, I cannot overlook such a thing."
Laas looks expectedly at Quoril and their new companion Solrin.

OOC: Can I make a recovery roll while we're doing this?

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
In reply to Laas Yah-Nir (msg # 34):

Quoril breathes deeply visibly disturbed by the news.

I tend to admire how strong, impulsive and stubborn humans are. We, Elves live so long that we become aloof from the world.

But that drive to accomplish so much in so little time can be as corrupting as it can be inspirational.

I know of Bhir Vedl, I know him in passing. He has a tower near the Queens Wood, close to the Halfling town of Burrow.

If Vedl has become the villain that this writ makes him out to be...it won't be easy. Corrupted wizards are paranoid and lace their towers with traps, find simpleminded beings to act as guards and focus their research on how to defend themselves.

Yet, by the moon and stars, I swear this village will be safe and the one who is behind this shall face justice.

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
"Indeed, I stand with you in insuring that this village is allowed to live in peace. If that means bringing down one of the Archmage's lackeys, so be it. Anything that weakens him is a bonus. Perhaps at this wizard's tower we can also find more information on the influence of Throne Point that he is talking about. While the Archmage is responsible for Elohir's death, I would seek to understand what exactly killed him. Perhaps you can recount the story of his final day," Solrin asked.

(No need to recap the last adventure, just wanted a story reason for Solrin to know about the details of the tower/Naga.)

OOC: Laas can make Recovery rolls. It's about a 5 day walk to the city of Concord, and then 5 more days walk to Burrow, the Queens Wood, and Bhir Vedi's tower.

OOC: 18:37, Today: Laas Yah-Nir rolled 12 using 2d6+3. Recovery.
18:36, Today: Laas Yah-Nir rolled 8 using 2d6+3. Recovery.

It just occurred to me that I'm still bleeding as well.
18:39, Today: Laas Yah-Nir rolled 4 using 1d20. Save vs Bleed DoT. Urgh.

"I wonder if we can perhaps secure some horses for the trip."
Laas wonders aloud as he tries to staunch the blood from a particularly nasty gash. He then goes on to recount Elohir's bravery, and all the details about the tower in which he perished to Solrin.

Solrin listened as Laas recounted the tale and as he finished he stared off for a long moment into the distance.

"Then in the end he was redeemed," Solrin spoke, seemingly to the sky. Looking back at the other two elves he replied, "Yes, let us see about acquiring some better transportation."

Re: Village Square (Intro to Campaign 2)
Quoril inquires about getting some horses for the trip. The villagers immediately fall into their pathetic peasant routine.
"Beggin your pardon good Elf, but without our horses we couldn't work our fields."

In the end, the villagers reluctantly come up with an old mule and a rickety cart. By the way they act, it's their most prized possession.

So friends I present you with transportation....

Lets the moment sink in. Yep it's a mule and cart.

I am so glad these fine people  realize that not only did save their lives, we could easily finish the job the mercenaries came to do. But, no they need to harvest and we get a nag and a rolling box.

"These people are poor, and largely forgotten as most humans are. They do not have the same sense of caring for each other our people do and thus do not know how to treat others any better than they have been," Solrin responds, climbing into the wagon and trying to get comfortable in a dignified manner.

OOC: 07:08, Today: Laas Yah-Nir rolled 9 using 1d20+6. Forage for herbs.

Laas returns after a quick jaunt around the village outskirts muttering under his breath to himself, "I could find more useful plants in a desert, nothing but weeds around here..."
Looking up, he spots his two companions in a rickety cart pulled by something that looks like it needs to be put out of it's misery, and is struck dumb.

"Would you like me to drive?" He manages to ask after a lengthy moment.
