Jan, you can give me a Diplomacy check for the conversation with the bartender. Zelpuz isn't trying to bluff so we'll just go with Diplomacy. If you think the bartender may be lying you can also give a Sense Motive check.

Both Zelpuz and Vanyra can also give a Notice check for scanning the room during the bartender questioning. It'll be more difficult for Zelpuz since he's engaging with the bartender.

Not necessarily lying but maybe trying to hide things or just not providing full information, and to get a sense how he reacts to the question (in case that's not obvious).
Could take 10 if the bartender is not too busy, since I want to show the badge for a while anyways, and casually shifting positions to look around.

She could try, but I imagine she would think there wasn't much value in it. The guy never looked in the bag, so she would only be getting touch sensations. Given what she saw in her vision she would likely conclude the bag is a good place to hide a conspicuous device. It is also obvious from what happened that the device does not require any complex operation to use, probably just a button or two. Given that, Vanyra would probably imagine it is either some sort of beacon or a pre-programmed message. Such devices are sometimes used by bounty hunters working with law enforcement; once the quarry is found you use it to bring in the cavalry.

One other point that both Vanyra and Zelpuz would have picked up on due to your excellent rolls is that these guys are professionals. Your plan worked and you were on alert, but if not for that there's almost no chance you would have picked them out of the crowd. They're also taking no further actions after what you've already witnessed; business as usual.

Yeah, I suspect you got some sort of headphones/earpieces (corded) with the communicators. But they'd just be for listening, if you want to speak you'll need to use the actual device. You guys didn't splurge for the elite spy gear, nor would you have been able to find it on short notice anyways.

Vanyra might need a specialized type of elite gear too to accommodate her different ears.

We definitely need a subtle form of communication when we aren't in sight of each other.

Yes, makes sense (the ear piece). As long as it doesn't go *CRACK BEEP* HELLO *BZZ* every time. So Zelpuz can hear but not answer. Sounds reasonable for the current purpose.
And definitely need a super advanced spy set for next time.

Yeah, fair to assume that the ear piece may not have been that practical for Vanyra's ears. She probably just had to op for using the mic and speaker in the communicator. Once she's inside the tavern though we'll assume she and Zelpuz have been using telepathy to communicate.

Gabe and Steve are here in Japan for the next couple of weeks so I'll be bouncing around with them so my response time may be sporadic.

Just so I'm clear, Zelpuz leaves the bar, walks outside and does a lap of the block/area and then immediately returns to Arkham's Abode to wait another 2 hours?

Anyone doing anything else?

Watching patrons in the bar is Vanyra's gig unless she hears (or smells, or sees, etc.) different.

So just for clarification, Zelpuz is staying at the tavern an additional 2 hours once he gets back in from his walkabout, correct?

Yes, roughly 2 hours, I think we said a total of about 4 hours after the intended time.

So Vanyra is following the 3 business guys out and trying to shadow until a point where she can ambush the one with the device? If so how are you following them; along the street, through back alleys, over the rooftops? Each way has it's advantages and disadvantages.

Zelpuz is remaining behind to maintain surveillance on the tavern?

So what time is it now? I.e. how much after the original time to meet? And it's about half an hour after the guy supposedly pressed a button, right? That should have been ample time for someone else to show up if it was supposed to be a sort of trap.

Yes, it's about 30 minutes after that. Any assumptions you make about that time frame are your own.

I think it's about 2.5 hours after you started your stakeout, though my math may be off on that. In any event you've been there for a while.
