Chapter 4: OOC

OK, so without the emotes.  You guys want to give a stealth and notice check each please.

Jan: Stealth 28, Notice 15 (incl. modifiers). What a fun character that Vanyra is, as soon as something happens she strips ;)

That's pretty stealthy I would say.

Indeed Vanyra is quite free spirited in that way.A good distraction technique at the very least, "Just wait a minute... before we start fighting, let me take my clothes off." :P

I assume Vanyra will be using her chameleon-like ability since she striped down to her thong?  Just want to clarify for emoting the action.

Also I still need Stealth and Notice checks from you Erik.

Erik: It makes sense for Vanyra to take some amount of point in the following, even if its just to look around corners etc. So yes, she will be using her blending to be less noticeable for that.
And of course she's fun!
Stealth: 20 (makes zero noise and has minimum partial concealment to normal vision)Notice: 25 (with all those various sensory assists)

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

Vanyra's last statement/action about following Vernus was intended to be before some of that, just when Vernus and the captain split up.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

It works either way really. She could simply have decided to go full-stealth when they were concerned that they may have been noticed by Vernus. So I guess the question still stands for Jan, if Zelpuz will follow Vanyra after Vernus?

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

So I amended the first post for order continuity of actions.  Now just looking to see what you guys are intending to do.  Please just emote it and give me an appropriate roll(s) for said actions... using the DICE ROLLER!

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

I will follow with Vanyra, i thought that what the last stealth and notice rolls were for? I guess, if possible he'll stay a little bit further behind, trying to follow vanrya, or maybe using communications to have her tell him where to go.

Edit: Ah, just read the last post of the actual action. So yes, we go with that, I am still not totaly clear about if we can somehow community over a distance?

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

It would pretty much be line of sight, but you could use telepathy to send thoughts to Vanyra, she just could not respond by sending you thoughts. Instead you would have to read her mind for her response to your telepathic communication.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

yep, that was basically my question, how much can I read her mind, and how far? If possible, I think we'd just have her go first and me follow like one 'turn' behind turning left or right depending on her thoughts. If that works, great, otherwise I'll try to follow her (I assume I can do that inspite of her camoflage since i 'know of it')?

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

In reply to Zelpuz (msg # 7):

Yeah, that is probably the best course of action.  Assuming Vanyra is not resisting your telepathy she could just think consciously about what she is seeing and you would be able to pick up on that without trouble.  And staying a few steps behind would give you time to react appropriately.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

Also, assuming she purposely stays open to his communication, can the "channel" just stay open?  All that's required is that telepathy doesn't turn off the mind reading.  I guess the individual power durations (concentration or sustained or whatever) are the determining factor there.

Also, as she inevitably approaches the hole, are there any odors of "sewage" or "the earthy, pungent smell of moss, rot and peaty earth"?

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

Yeah, it will not be a big deal to communicate in this fashion at the current stage.  If combat suddenly broke out then concentration checks would be in order, but only for the sake of telepathically communicating.

The smells emanating from the hole Vernus entered would certainly be a mixture of sewage, ocean water and oils. While Vanyra would not recognize it the oils and such would be typical for water beneath the harbor where waste is dumped from the ships.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

So navigating these steps with any degree of stealth would be very challenging while effectively blind.

Having said that I was a bit surprised to see that Zelpuz does have Telepathic Sight as a power. With this he could see through Vanyra's eyes, who can see pretty damn well in the dark.  With a bit of coordination they could probably manage without a light and still be fairly stealthy.

Since Vernus is using a light he should be relatively easy to follow.

If this sounds like a plan just emote the idea in IC.  I will need some new rolls for stealth and concentration (use in-game game roller please and state which roll is stealth and which roll is concentration) to coop stealth down the stairs.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

I think that does sound like a plan.  Zelpuz maintains telepathic communication and sees what Vanyra is visually perceiving (via infravision and low-light) through his telepathy power(s).

Infravision will be pretty helpful for following Vernus as well given residual heat of his body and his light source.

Zelpuz also has the options of taking his time somewhat and focusing on the stealth if need be, since Vanyra is doing the primary following and she makes no noise.  If this sounds good to Zelpuz, we can post IC.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

Still looking for the Concentration checks from you guys, and a Stealth roll from Jan.

Also, I do not get any sort of notification when you guys just do rolls, so perhaps if you are doing them in OOC to just state that you've made rolls.  No need for details; just something to let me know to check your dice log.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

So I did a Stealth roll and a Notice roll, but I was unsure as to why I needed a concentration roll, since the power being used isn't Vanyra's to maintain.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

I did not even ask for a notice roll, so not sure why you did that.  The concentration check is due to the fact that you are trying to see for two people at once.

So close; it was just a roll to see if you would assist with his concentration roll; just needed a 10.  All up to him now. Will not affect Vanyra any really.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

OK, made a concentration roll.... not too good either. Does Telepathic Sight (Sensory Link 3) help?
Also did a stealth roll, but I noticed, I also have a "Stealth Field" .. not sure what I can do with that, but sounds useful here.
Anyways, I also made a stealth roll, that turned out even worse ... I guess I am falling down the stairs or so.

Well, not like she normally has a need for the skill ;P

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

Everyone has to concentrate at some point; generally a good one to have.

Jan, you're certainly not helping the situation with rolls like that... bunch of first timers here :P

If you had used the stealth field from the start we likely would not have having his conversation since it renders your concealed from sight and sound; so you cannot be seen or heard.

We will just assume Zelpuz knew his abilities better than you do and had it active, though it does not help you get down the stairs any better.

Since you are using magic you'll need to make a couple of rolls for that.  I will have to look at your full character sheet and then I will let you know what is necessary.

Re: Chapter 4: OOC

Wow, this dice roller can be harsh.  Rolled for you Jan, got 14... and that is with your +10 for Nether Manipulation.  You made it anyways so Zel is effectively cloaked, but is not fully competent walking down the stairs in the dark while looking through someone else's eyes.
