Re: General Discussion
I know that game speed is an issue, and will probably arise on the Rifts board as well. Just something I observed recently, when I started making dialogue with Vrryl, Robin thought we should cut short and move the game along. I know this is Freelancer, and I understand his point... but at the same time, I kind of suspect that the desire to speed the story along may at times cut out what may make story telling and rpg so much fun... interaction between these crazy characters. How they ground themselves and develop their relationships and motivations. It's the talk about family, death, a gem, a trip, a favour... it gives life to the world. I mean, why are Vanyra and Zelpuz still in Yuu's company? Yuu is very clear with his connection to Qwe, but how can we provide an equal bond with these other characters?
I suspect these games could slowly become IC stories written by gm interpretations of our OOC discussions. Where our characters aren't even interacting.
I know the forum format is the best we have, for all our divergent lives. I'm wondering if there is something we can do to maintain the point of roleplaying, while still keeping a story alive and mobile. And I'm not suggesting we have zero IC interaction, but there does seem a trend to that, and the Robin thing really had me wonder what other people were thinking. Or... maybe I'm just over thinking it.
