In reply to He Who watches (msg # 1):
Following is our rules lite system for describing your character:
We use a semi-freeform rules-lite system. Most of the time, situations will be resolved by freeform role-play, but where there is an element of doubt, or combat is involved, players will roll 1D100 (higher is better), and the GMs will determine the outcome of the events using a simple, yet consistent, behind-the-scenes resolution system.
Choose 8 jobskills for your character. There's no pick-list.
Skills in this game are things you can do for a living, if you're good enough. Piloting is a skill, so is Farming. Perception is not. You can't get a job as a Perceptor...
You get one Primary skill at Level 2 (or 3 by negotiation with the GM). This is probably what you used to do for a living. You get two Secondary skills at Level 1 or 2. These are alternative career paths. You get three Tertiary skills at Level 0 or 1. These are other things you can do to some extent.
You also start with 0 level skill in Shooting and Fighting if this is not covered in another skill set.
Normal driving is a 'free' skill.
I'm assuming everyone can drive (Level 2) unless they say not, or it's not compatible with their character, so you only need to list driving if it's a specialist vehicle - motorcycle, crane, tank, etc. or at a specialist level.
Use the following guide to the Levels:
Unlisted - Don't know, don't care.
Level 0 - No skill, but interested/learning.
Level 1 - Trained.
Level 2 - Professional.
Level 3 - Expert, creme de la creme.
Or, more graphically...
- Unskilled: I've seen my dad drive a car, and I've played Grand Theft Auto.
- Skill 0: I've started taking lessons. This is a lot harder than it looks.
- Skill 1: I've passed my test - Yay! It's official - I'm a driver! I can take my mates out. Jeez! Where did that jerk come from?
- Skill 2: I got a job as a taxi/van driver. Rush hour? Meh, seen it all. That jerk's gonna... Told ya!
- Skill 3: I'm a bootlegger / racing driver / stuntman. I am one with my vehicle, an acrobat, a master.
