Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

The being lurking around the corner flies out toward Nemeroff. She looks to be a half-demon cambion woman much like the one that tried to kidnap the seer back in the village. Another ally of hers appears out of nowhere, flying towards Nemeroff as well; both charge the swordmage with nasty, sharp spears. Nemeroff ably parries one's blow, leaving himself open to the other's, which gashes him and leaves him bleeding...

I moved your mini back, Harald--you jumped the gun a bit. You can use your Acrobatcis checks on your proper turn.

Nemeroff, I moved yours forward assuming you'd keep the same movement--the cambions basically readied to charge when you moved to that location. #2 hits for 19 hp and ongoing 10 damage to Nemeroff.

Nemeroff, Gromley, Harald and Zog are up!

Those who succeeded in Arcana checks will get PM information about the cambions momentarily. If you want to identify the snake as well, make another Arcana check.

Zog, seeing this, stays put and blasts at the easy targets, trying to figure out what they are.

Arcana 32 on women, 28 on snake. I probably can't see the snake but will keep that roll for when I do.

Elemental Bolt with Elemental Escalation on the two women, hits Reflex 29 and 31. If I miss, completely, I use Refined Recall to not expend the use of Elemental Escalation.

21:06, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 33,28 using 1d20+18,1d20+18 with rolls of 15,10. Arcana on women, snake.

21:08, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 47,9,48,11 using 2d12+35,2d10,2d12+35,2d10 with rolls of 4,8,4,5,7,6,6,5. Elemental Bolt damage.

In reply to EpicOne (msg # 215):

The gnome on the disk appears breifly, and his eyes glow-as does one of the demon women's. She turns to her friend, and says in demonic speech. "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT ME!?" And proceeds to strike her fellow infernal creature soundly across the face with her weapon. Gromley is then gone again-as if he had never been there...

(OOC-08:50, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 41 using 1d20+24 with rolls of 17. arcana. on Snake.

Standard action-Spending to psi points and using Betrayal on C1.
08:55, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 29 using 1d20+25 with rolls of 4. Betrayal vs will-C1, 2 psi pts.
Assuming I have 1 bennie to spend, that is a hit. That makes C1 attack C2, with +12 to hit and on damage, and it will Daze C2.
08:57, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 52 using 1d20+36 with rolls of 16. C1 basic attack vs C2, with +12 bonus.
08:58, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 29 using 3d6+20 with rolls of 5,2,2. C1 damage vs C2.

C2 takes 29 damage and is dazed.

Move action-moves two spaces to behind Agon, as he is medium sized and I am small, that should be enough cover to hide.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

The women shriek in anger as Nemeroff and Harald turn out to be far better defenders than they. The less-battered cambion stabs hard at Harald, who turns a blow that would kill a normal man into only a scratch. Noting the other cambion's technique, Nemeroff ably blocks an identical blow from the other cambion, who is bleeding from two spots.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a blue-skinned troll bashes through the ice and clambers up to engage the party. With its absurdly long arms it backhands Nemeroff, sending him flying through the air and landing on his back right in front of Zog! It tries the same thing on the dwarf, but Harald is too sly for it, side-stepping the troll's swing.

The troll's stealth check was absurdly high, so he gains CA his first round after delaying. Nature checks to identify the troll, if you like.

Agon, you can still give me an Arcana check for the snake-woman--you rolled for the cambions but not for the snake.

C1 hits Harald for 18 hp.
C2 misses Nemeroff.
Troll emerges from the water and moves to current location as move action.
Troll hits Nemeroff for 15 hp, pushes him to current location and knocks him prone.
Troll spends AP and misses Harald with same kind of attack.

Nemeroff, Gromley, Harald & Zog are up!

Gormley sets up a thought guardian among the group of his foes, disorienting them with a psionic attack. Then, knowing what was going to happen once the snake woman got close, chose to hide again. Not before contacting the others telepathically.

Beware the snake, for she can draw you in with charms and will daze your minds!

(OOC-Nature roll for troll: 11:03, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 34 using 1d20+17 with rolls of 17. Nature.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Harald swung his hammer around his head before smashing it into the most damaged of the women.  That way he hoped to bring down at least one of the enemies.  “That’s one fir you, lassie” he chuckled.

Then, with an agility which belied his dwarvish…build, he slipped between the two women and launched yet another blow at the second woman.  “And anither fir you.”

Still not finished, he tucked himself close up to the strange troll’s scaly hide.  “And finally here’s one fir you, ma blue friend".

As he edged away from the troll he cast an experienced eye over the strange creature.

But Harald was not finished yet.  A sideways glance saw the large snake drawing near and, mindful of Gromley’s warning, the fighter decided that attack was the best form of defence.  His head down, and axe swinging, HArald barrelled into the snake shoving it all over the place.  "Ye just keep out o' it till we finish wi' yer friends."

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

The combined assault from Gromley, Harald and Nemeroff brings down one of the two women, Nemeroff getting the kill. Harald's attack bounces off the thick troll's hide before he drives forward and hurts the snake-woman.

Nemeroff becomes a blur, teleporting from target to target and then moving THROUGH his enemies, leaving sizzling wounds on them.

Zog blasts the remaining woman and the troll. This last blast opens a nasty wound in the cambion's side.

The snake-woman rolls over--and smiles. She starts singing a

Harald hit C2 twice and Gromley hit her, but those didn't bring her down; it took Nemeroff's Greenflame Blade crit to take her out.

Harald missed the troll.

Harald hit the snake-woman with his charge and knocks her prone. The troll has threatening reach, but he misses Harald with an OA.

Nemeroff hits the troll and C1 with Lightning Strider, gets the kill on C2 with Greenflame Blade, and hits C1 and troll with Acid Surge. Even if I shifted the attack from C2 to snake for Acid Surge, it misses, so no real effect.

Zog, you did not spend that last benny--I transferred the hit from C2 to the troll and you hit with a 31. You bloody C1.

On her turn, the snake-woman "stands" from prone and spends two minor actions to Lure. The first attack misses both Nemeroff and Harald, while the second hits Harald. Harald is dazed (save ends). She would pull you one square, but you're a dwarf.

Agon is up!! Agon, don't forget an Arcana check for details on the Naga, and a Nature check if you like on the troll.

Harald, you don't know much of anything about the troll. Gromley, I'll send you info in a PM.

Standard Action : Crushing Titan's Fist burst 2 centered on W1.
38 (with benny), 44 (crit) vs W1, Troll (Reflex)
Hit : 22 (49 on crit) force damage (+4 if both hit) and immobilized until end of my next turn

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Harald shakes his head to try to clear the confusion caused by that big damned snake.  This he finds surprisingly easy to do - probably because of the shock of hitting the cold water.

"Ooph!  Wha...?  Where?"

The doughty fighter splashed around, trying to keep his head above water as he decided what he should be doing next.

With a might struggle he eventually managed to regain his equilibrium - although he would never have understood the word - although the flow of the water moved him rapidly downstream.  With a resounding crunch dwarf met Troll.  Harald used his battleaxe as an anchor, sticking it into the troll's side and halting his onward progression.

"Ah hope ye'll excuse ma impedance!"  Harald grinned broadly at his opponent.

Clearheaded: Save vs Daze at start of turn at +5.
Athletics check to stay afloat (Fail but save with bennie roll)
Fail save vs Prone
Move action to stand (!) up from prone
Move 2 squares by water power - end adjacent to Troll

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Zog's skin crackles with energy, his hairs beginning to stand on end. He mutters something under his breath and unleashes another pair of blasts, one of normal lightning that strikes the cambion woman with potent force, and the other tinged with dark blue that blows a huge chunk out of the side of the troll.

STANDARD: Elemental Bolt with Elemental Escalation, and using Learned Boost on the Troll. Hits Troll reflex 38 for 90 hp damage (sweet!) and C1 reflex for 68 hp.

I may fly forward for free and/or move, but I want to see if C1 is still alive first, si'l vous plait.

17:04, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 57,11 using 2d12+38,2d10 with rolls of 10,9,1,10. EBolt damage C1.

17:02, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 38,44 using 1d20+26,1d20+26 with rolls of 12,18. ElBolt+ElEsc Troll,C1+LarnBoostTroll.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

C1 falls as a result of Zog's attack. Take the rest of your turn.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Nemeroff looks at the snake then moves next to her. He then raise his glaive and hits her.

Move: See map
Standard: Break the Tempo vs. Snake
  • Attack: Hit AC 40 for 33 hit points (If I miss with 40, I'll use bennies until I hit.)
  • Effect: Until the end of your next turn, you can use an immediate interrupt
  •          to move up to 4 squares and make a melee basic attack against the target
  •          if it makes an attack roll. If you deal damage, the target takes a penalty
  •          to its attack roll equal to your Intelligence modifier.

Minor: Identify Snake(Arcana check)

11:23, Today: Nemeroff rolled 32 using 1d20+27 with rolls of 5. Arcana check(Identify Snake).
11:20, Today: Nemeroff rolled 33 using 8d4+13 with rolls of 2,3,2,2,1,2,4,4. Damages.
