Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

As the fight became more frenzied HArald just dug his heels in and kept swinging.  Despite his attention being focussed on the vampires he did note that his new companions were well worthy of their reputations.  Their powers were mighty and their bravery second to none.

Standard: Cleave vs vampire 3
Hit: vampire 3 takes 20 damage and vampire 2 takes 7
Move: if vampire 2 dies from that blow then Harald will shift into his space.

01:24, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 20 using 2d10+14 with rolls of 1,5. damage vs 3.
01:22, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 44 using 1d20+30 with rolls of 14. Cleave vs 3.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Agon nearly smiled as he watched the battlefield. Their enemies were nearly perfectly positioned for his attacks. Raising his hands, he prepared to make a few adjustments to the battlefield.

Round 3
Move Action : Shift 1 up
Standard Action : Magic Missile vs 1 - 16 force damage (auto-hit)
Standard Action (w/ Action Point) : Twist of Space centered on Nemeroff, but not hitting him ; Combat Advantage against slowed targets (Lady C) ; +4 att, +8 dmg from Action Point thanks to Nemeroff (added after the rolls)
   40*, 38, 44, 36 vs Lady C, 1, 2, 3 (Will) (* : 1 benny used)
Hit : 25 damage, and the target is teleported 3 squares and slowed until the end of my next turn.
My goal, if possible, is to teleport Lady C between Harald and Nemeroff ; teleport 2 one square down ; and teleport 1 below Harald (or below Lady C if 2 dies).
Status : 90 hp, 1 action point used, 1 benny used

Agon, your 25 hp kills 2, so if you want to use the Magic Missile on someone else, you can.

Nemeroff, your move.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

When the one vampire dies, he flashes a fell look that sends Zog and Harald reeling backwards in mental pain. When wounded by Agon's spell, another flashes this look at Nemeroff, who has the presence of mind to shut his eyes for a split second.

The vampire to the southeast of Nemeroff stands and, snarling claws Nemeroff viciously again, opening up a scratch that the swordmage's magic closed moments before. Meanwhile, the other vampire stands and swings for Harald's face, but the warrior's instincts are a second faster than the blurred-fast claw of the undead.

The devil-woman, meanwhile, hisses hideously, draws her longsword and begins an assault on the swordmage. He ably parries her blows, however, to her obvious surprise.

When 2 dies, it uses a burst 2 vs. Will, hits Harald and Zog for 19 hp and pushes both to their current locations on the map.

When 1 is bloodied, it bursts as well but misses its only target, Nemeroff.

1 stands and attacks Nemeroff, hits for 18 hp and gives him ongoing 10 necrotic again.

3 stands and attacks Nemeroff, missing.

Lady C stands, misses Nemeroff twice with a longsword attack, and makes her save vs. Living Missile.

The PCs are up!

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Zog blinks and an angry look comes over his face. "It will take more than that," he utters as he strides back around into sight of the vampires. He stops a little ways away and unleashes a blast of lightning at each of the remaining vampires. He then floats through the air gracefully to flank the woman.

"I recommend you surrender. We will spare you if you are sensible and do so," he whispers to her.

Move around the corner, stop 2 squares short of the vampires to avoid a potential close burst 2.

Hit Reflex 32 on vampire 1 for 56 hp and Reflex 41 for 51 hp damage on vampire 2, all damage lightning. Once they're done exploding, if they do after that, I fly up to flank on C. Free action to give her an ultimatum.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

The more-wounded vampire does, in fact, go down, and the other vampire is nearly torn apart, but not quite. Nemeroff ignores the falling vampire's evil look.

Vampire 3 goes down; it misses Nemeroff with its burst attack, and then Zog presumably flies up.

Vampire 1 is hit and is still up, but is really wobbly at -236.

Everyone else is up!

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Lady C calmly turns and slays her vampire companion! The vampire turns its hideous visage to Zog and Nemeroff, but neither are fazed by such a trick now.

Agon then further freezes the woman, causing noticeable damage to her tender skin...

Vampire 1 is down; its burst attack misses Zog and Nemeroff. Agon's attack bloodies Lady C.

Harald and Nemeroff are up!

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

“Aaargh!”

Harald reared back and then charged forward like an arrow from a bow.  His axe struck a mighty blow against the remaining opponent and drove her backwards.  But the resolute dwarf was not finished.  He continued forward , following up closely and struck the vampire one more ferocious blow.

She slew from the ground and landed with a heavy thump many feet away from where she had started, flat on her back.

Harald, a bloody gleam in his eye, was so transfixed by his attack that he almost laid into Nemeroff – but sanity seemed to prevail!  Instead, he darted forward, paralleling the vampire’s path through the air, and arrived next to her prone body, his axe raised to strike once more.

“A’d  stay doon, if Ah were you, ma honey.”

But suddenly, from the corner of his eye he saw Nemeroff and realised his intention.  His instinct had been right after all.

“Oh no, you don’t!” he yelled as his axe flew from his hand, ripping into his erstwhile friend.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Nemeroff was about to move to the lady and flank her when an hammer from Harald hits him badly. He stares at the dwarf, and was ready to charge him, but deep in his mind, he knows that it was not the right thing to do.

"Harald, what are you doing?" he shouts.

He shakes his head, heals him again, then moves next to the vampire lady. While still keeping an eye on his supposed ally, he orders him to hit the vampire again.

Harald does not even get a chance to land a blow, as Nemeroff's blow fells the woman.

Harald, however, sees something else interesting...

Nemeroff, is your finishing blow lethal or nonlethal on Lady C?

We are headed into a skill challenge. What the nature of the skill challenge is depends on how Harald reacts to the information he has learned.

Also, Zog, please fix your Passive Perception/Insight in your biography--they aren't correct.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

As the battle died down, Agon took a few seconds to shake off the confusion he felt. His companions seemed focused on something - he was not sure what - outside the hut. The hut he still had not exited.

Glancing back, his eyes still unfocused, he half turned toward the seeress.

"They won't bother you know" he reassured her, referring to the vampires and she-devil. "Who were they ?"he asked.

"More importantly, I would like to hear about the key you mentioned earlier" he insisted, his attention half on her, half on his companions outside.

Nemeroff proceeds into the building to note that the seeress is no longer in the building, and the back wall of the hut has been destroyed. He moves out quickly to note that the woman is being carried along unconscious about 10' above ground by some invisible force away from the party....

And now you can make whatever skill rolls you feel appropriate to give chase. If you would use an attack power, use the skill tied to your power--if it's arcane, use Arcana, if it's physical/martial use Athletics or Acrobatics etc.

Harald and Zog can go ahead and roll Intimidate checks.
