Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Zog curses under his breath lets fly with a pair of lightning bolts at the more-wounded pair of knight-constructs. He then moves back away from the burgeoning bunch of enemies.

STANDARD:  Elemental Bolt + Elemental Escalation, targeting K2 and K3, hits Reflex 39 for 53 lightning on K2 and Reflex 35 for 63 lightning on K3. I'll spend a Benny to re-roll if 35 misses. When hit, they gain vulnerable 3 to any attacks I make until EOMNT.

MOVE: Move back to where I am now.

13:34, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 42,11,53,10 using 2d12+35,2d10,2d12+35,2d10 with rolls of 3,4,3,8,12,6,3,7. Damage on K2,K3.
13:31, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 39,35 using 1d20+27,1d20+27 with rolls of 12,8. ElBolt+ElEsc K2,K3.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Seeing the foe is near him, Nemeroff steps between Harald and GTBW while muttering a few words in an arcane language. As the words were spoken, he grew to a formidable size as he slashed at the small tree that had attacked him.

OOC:Minor:Shift 1 to the NW
Move, as minor Giants Might (Daily) Size becomes large, +5 to STR checks, +2 to attacks, +5 to damage, +1 reach
Standard: Surprise attack on K3(Free MBA to Gromley, +8 to the attack,)
14:13, Mon 04 Aug 2014: Nemeroff rolled 33 using 1d20+31 ((2))
14:13, Today: Nemeroff rolled 22 using 2d4+18 with rolls of 1,3. damage?
14:18, Today: Nemeroff rolled 39 using 1d20+31 with rolls of 8. reroll.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Once again, the astral woman appears among his foes, even as the gnome on the floating disk slinks away. She lashes out at all the enemy around her...

(Ooc-shifts one space SE on floating disk. So difficult terrain should not be an issue.

Standard-thought guardian with 4 psi points in the center of the 4 human size foes.

18:32, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 15 using 1d8+12 with rolls of 3. Damage.
18:30, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 37 using 1d20+27 with rolls of 10. Thought guardian, target 4.
18:30, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 41 using 1d20+27 with rolls of 14. Thought guardian, target 3.
18:30, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 39 using 1d20+27 with rolls of 12. Thought guardian, target 2.
18:29, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 40 using 1d20+27 with rolls of 13. Thought guardian, 4 psi, target 1 vs will.

Hits will do 15 psi damage, give any target hit -2 to hit, and -6 to hit Gromley. If any foe near thought guardian tries to move away from it, or attacks Gromley, it will get an OA on them that can do 12 damage and will daze them.

I cannot move my figure on the map, as I am on vacation and do not have access to normal computer. If someone could do it for me it would be much appreciated.)

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Zog's blasts open big holes in the sides of the knights, and strange ichor leaks out. The suddenly-enormous Nemeroff and suddenly rather small-seeming Harald both pound one of the knights further, which reels a bit.

Then, Gromley's thought guardian appears, stymying the knights' attempts to move at all and causing one to nearly pitch over from overwhelming psychic power!

As Zog moves away, he notices something a bit too late: Fell energies coil about the trees near him. When the trees awake, each contributes a strand of energy to a writhing mass of green and white energy forming above the trees which then lances downward to strike the visible character farthest away from the teleportation circle. It hits Zog's head, but Zog's well-disciplined mind repels the attack--this time.

The reeling knight next to Harald still manages to strike the doughty warrior HARD.

Reflex 35 hits, Zog, so no Benny.

The trees are a trap--send me a PM if you want more info on how to disable or destroy it.

Knight3 gets lucky and crits Harald for 29 hp, and Harald is marked by Knight3.

Gromley, I need you to make OAs against K1,K2 and K4.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Gromley's thought guardian almost gently reaches out and grabs the minds of two of the three knights, halting them in a miasma of psychic power. The third breaks free and, strolling right past Gromley and slices at Agon, his blade seemingly drawn to the wizard. This opens a tear in Agon's tunic and a gash in his mid-section!

Gromley's OA hits 1 and 4, who are both stopped in their tracks, but misses K2. K2 provokes an OA from Gromley--if you are unarmed, you still threaten, this is 4th edition after all! He then hits Agon solidly for 29 hp necrotic and is marked by K2.

Great and Terrible Bone Witch, Agon and Harald are up. Gromley, if you want to take your melee OA on K2, please do so as well.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Agon looked at his arm, which was actually bleeding from the knight's slash. "Have you learned not to hit a wizard?" He demanded.  With a flicker, he was safely out of harm's way. Agon used some powerful spells that knocked  the knights around like ninepins, a doubly dangerous move since he had switched the senses of the knight that had hit him to strike at his allies instead.

Great and Terrible Bone Witch snarls, ignoring her headaches, and decides to take down that big undead tree and be done with it. As usual, she does a very good job of it, cutting off several branches and countless chips of bark, pressing the great tree south and towards her allies.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

As Agon’s blast finishes off one knight and Harald’s blow brings another one to near-destruction, the treant’s roots shoot out again. They grab the Great and Terrible Bone Witch and yank her off her feet, tangling her up. The treant then tries to slam the goblin not once but twice, failing both times.

GTBW is hit by Entangling Roots—she is knocked prone and is restrained(save ends). The prone condition is not save ends, just the restrained. The treant then misses twice including using its action point.

Gromley, Nemeroff and Zog are up. NOTE: If you kill K2, then you negate Agon’s cool effect of having K2 attack K3 and K4 at the end of its turn. So, as a GM who loves these things, please target either K4 or K1 with your attacks so Agon can reap his reward. (Or ready to go after K2 gets his free attacks.)

Zog curses his luck. The stupid trees themselves were targeting him now. Lovely. He moves closer to Nemeroff and, between the giant defender's legs, blasts the treant solidly, and then whirls in a whirlwind-like motion to blast one of the less-wounded knights as well.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

As the party pounds the living daylights out of the knight-constructs, the trees whisper horrible things to the Great and Terrible Bone Witch. She has seen more terrible things, though, and so she ignores them.

Even at a disadvantage, the knight-things are formidable. Both of them teleport to Harald--the prone one included--and attack, delivering painful blows to the doughty warrior.

K2 gets a crit on the two allies of his before Nemeroff cuts him down. Nemeroff's attacks wipe out K2 and knock K1 prone. Zog then bloodies bot K4 and the treant. When K2 dies, he grants 25 temporary hp to his two nearby allies.

Trees attack GTBW this time and miss.

Both K's teleport adjacent to Harald as a move action and attack, K1 still being prone. One hit and one crit totals up to 50 hp damage (21 and 29 hp respectively).

GTBW, Agon and Harald are up!

The goblin vanishes into thin air as the tree thing graps for her, and then instantly again as she reappers to move aside the tree's trunk, any grabbing roots notwithstanding. As if roots could stop a goblin avenger of Ioun.
Night-terror continues to cut into the bark, and sap and chips of wood fly around.

OOC: Had to exchange Overwhelming Strike with Inexorable Pursuit when I remembered that I was dropped prone. Inexorable Pursuit's teleport allows me to get into melee range again.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Agon stepped lightly across the uneven ground, placing his allies between the remaining enemies and his own fragile body. A sudden lash of lightning blasted the treant, sending a small branch crashing to the ground. With an easy flick of his wrist, he hit it again with a magic  missile--all this adventuring had some rewards in terms of common combat spells.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Standing next to the wounded truant, the Great and Terrible Bone Witch feels something sucking life energy from her—presumably the presence of the walking undead tree.

The tree’s roots shoot out for the goblin’s feet but she nimbly leaps above them as they reach for her. However, the truant’s big hand batters her as she lands, and she feels some dark force pulling at her person as the pain from the initial blow fades.

I forgot it last round, so you benefit from that: Anyone starting within 2 squares of the treant takes 10 necrotic damage, which I applied to GTBW this round.

Treant misses GTBW with its entangling roots but hits with a slam for 16 hp and ongoing 5 necrotic (save ends).

Gromley, Nemeroff and Zog are up!

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Slipping over to help the goblin deal with the huge (undead) walking tree, Nemeroff smashed it to the ground. There was a bit of a struggle but the creature fell, allowing Great and Terrible Bone Witch to attack it on the way down.

OOC:back to back 2's good grief. Well used two bennies on that attack but it should be prone and GTBW gets a free attack
