Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Once again, the undead tree moves away from the goblin lady, and proceeds to smash one of its huge branches down on its foe. Then both Harald and Nermeroff seem to move on their own accord out of the deadly tree's area of negative energy.

(OOC-Using Betrayal to make the tree move, attack K1 (in that order), and as a result is dazed until the end of my next turn. Also, last time it attacked, it was dazed which meant it could not do an attack and use a minor action to use its other power-as when you are dazed you can only take one action. GTBW should not have been hit at all. In any case, Tree is dazed until the end of G's next turn, and K1 takes 21 points of normal damage.

Move action-using noble presence to move Harold and Nermeroff to thier new postions so they do not get in the tree's entropic aura. However, I can't move anyone else. Sorry. They also get +2 defenses.

14:40, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 21 using 1d12+20 with rolls of 1. Damage.
14:39, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 50 using 1d20+37 with rolls of 13. Treant vs K1.

The treant dies before Gromley gets his attack. Gromley, please asssume that you hit K1 or K4 instead with Betrayal--please specify which one so Zog can dlaim his CA on it when he attacks.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

The party's assault finishes off the treant and one of the knight-constructs. The last one staggers to its feet.

Meanwhile, the trees sing a strange song to the Great and Terrible Bone Witch that causes her a debilitating headache...

K1 uses its only action to stand.

The trees are still a threat--they attack GTBW, hitting Will of 40 for 26 hp poison damage, and GTBW is Weakened (save ends)

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Agon walked calmly backwards, putting the melee fighters between himself and the enemy. He nodded to Gromley. "Nice day for some wizarding." With an arcane gesture, he sent lightning at his foes, blasting a major branch off the nearby trees.

Trees: +46 vs Reflex, CRIT! 50 Lightning damage
K1: +35 vs Reflex, Hit 26 Lightning Damage

Edit: Changed my attack to be against the trees that I'm standing by, since the Treant is dead.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

When the last knight fell Harald stepped briskly up to the nearest tree.

“Tree!  Axe!  Axe! Tree!”  He laughed uproariously.  "Ah always think new enemies should get a proper introduction."

His axe whirled through the air and cleaved into the tree.

Agon's blast destroys the knight.

Nemeroff and Harald, you'll want to change your actions. The trees on the map are the source of the trees trap and are attack-able.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

The trees themselves pose a threat and 'fight on' after the actual opposition is over whelmed? ''Huh?''
The Great and Terrible Bone Witch's surprise is rather mild and short-lived though, and she continues hacking at the underbrush to the right and left.

Not sure where to move, Pete, move me where I can be within 5 of one tree and 10 of another. Hit reflex 29 for 57 hp and Reflex 34 for 59 hp. Will spend a Benny if needs be to re-roll the 29.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

The party combines to blast or smash the nearby trees, which seems to dampen their enthusiasm for attacking. The situation calms down considerably, even as the portal behind you fades out of existence.

Clearly visible in the distance is another rocky knoll. Atop that knoll, a huge outcropping of black rock rises up almost to the low, dark clouds. Between the two knolls stands the warped, skeletal boughs of the Forest of Twisted Souls.

You're good for a short rest here, if you like. If you do, let me know how many surges you spend. Otherwise, your move!

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Zog sits on the ground. He would prefer to sit by a tree, but he rather distrusted these.

His face morphs into an uncanny replica of Gromley's. "Woe is me. I forgot my crumpets and my feather-bed back in my home-world." His face shifts back to its normal, bland, hard-to-pin-down appearance and he grins ruefully. "I never sleep in an Inn. There is too much to be done for such things."

Short rest, one surge spent.

"Oh pardon me...it's so much more noble to rest on the filthy ground and drafty outdoors." He rolled his eyes. "And strictly speaking, I don't sleep in inns ether-for there is plenty to do there." He smirks at Zog. "What's your idea of a good time, impersonating someone to get access to a soft bed?"

"The good earth is fine for me.  Beds in inns are a' right for softies an' the like but the best thing aboot inns is the beer."

He licked his thick lips as he remembered many a night and oft at the bar.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

This bleak, depressing woodland is strangely monochromatic, as if the color was drained from it. Its skeletal, leafless trees are misshapen and twisted, and gnarled roots rear from the ground like great, petrified serpents. Shrouded in damp, noisome moss the trees’ gaunt, rotten boughs twist skyward to form a dense canopy of decaying branches through which only dim light seeps. Whispers of rituals flit through the top of the trees, occasionally dropping closer to the ground.

Give me Arcana, Athletics, Nature, or Religion rolls; if you aren't trained in any of those, roll Perception and/or Stealth.
