Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Irfelujhar's tentacles grab him as he is slid into his magical zone!

The tentacles hit him for 31 hp damage and he is restrained (save ends). Not that he isn't going to let the zone expire--he will :-) --but he is restrained for purposes of attacks from Harald, Nemeroff, Zog and Vali.

Zog looks at the field of tentacles in front of him and frowns. "Guess I'll wait to move," he says.

He weaves an intricate pattern in front of him and then levels a blast of lightning through it, blasting the undead lord of this realm hard.

Elemental Bolt + Elemental Escalation. Use Master's Surge to not expend a use of Elemental Escalation while using it; hit with a Benny for 76 damage and I is vulnerable 3 to my elemental attacks until EOMNT.

Agon danced away from the rising tentacles.  There was a possibility they could hold him, and one which he was unwilling to allow.  "The niches to the north benefit those who attack from within them." Agon announced. It would be up the to the individual judgment of the others if they wished to try them.

Meanwhile, a pair of hands of force locked onto the lich, rending his physical form.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

The lich-lord of this place smiles a skeletal smile. ”Very impressive. I would not thought you to be as clever as that. I must adjust my tactics a bit.” He takes a blow from Vali as he allows the tentacled zone to disappear.

He utters a word of power and becomes invisible. He then utters a word of power and, as Agon can tell, teleports to elsewhere in the room.

Vali’s charge goes off as soon as the zone disappears. I regenerates 50 hp. He turns invisible and teleports to current location on the map.

If your character has a Passive Perception of 35 or greater, you can identify I’s current square with no action, but you target him at -5 to hit. If you don’t, you need to make a Perception of DC 35 as a minor action to target him directly, albeit with the -5 Invisibility penalty. Areas of effect can be directed in his area at no penalty as usual.

ALL PCS are up!

NOTE THE ZONE ON THE MAP. If you move into it, stop your movement and something happens.
Knowledge checks are not possible on Irfelujhar.

Terrain Details:
Illumination: Dim light, filtering in through the crystal ceiling.
Ceiling: The domed ceiling, which is crafted from magically hardened crystal, reaches a height of 40 feet in the center of the chamber. Light filters through the crystal from outside.
Pillars: Eight magically hardened crystal pillars hold the ceiling aloft. The pillars block line of effect but not line of sight. They are very smooth but can be scaled with a DC 29 Athletics check.
Tiamat Statue: This huge statue of Tiamat domi- nates the chamber. Characters can scale the statue with a DC 15 Athletics check. The statue provides cover.

Roll an Arcana check if you want to understand the color-coded niches to the north.

Zog smirks. "Come out, come out, wherever you are," he says, following Agon. He then points to the wall in the black alcove and it explodes with fire, blazing....

Move to current location. Use Ignition, hit Fort of 38 (or 42 if 38 misses) for 49 fire damage. The burst creates a zone that lasts until the start of your next turn. Any creature that enters the zone or ends its turn there takes fire damage equal to your Constitution modifier (6 hp damage). A creature can take this damage only once per turn.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Harald moved out past the pillars, his eyes straining to see the devilish beast.

Suddenly, there it was!

“I see it!” he yelled, charging forward, axe swinging.

But this attack was only the beginning!  Hardly had his axe bit but he was propelling Irfelujhar round in a half circle so as to present his back to the onrush of the rest of the party.  And, hopefully, still suffering from Harald’s initial attack.

Gromley sets up a thought guardian to blast the area, but makes sure his friends are clear from the attack.

OOC-Finally made the perception roll with two bennies. Moved to current locations.

Using area effect thought guardian total is 37 vs will considering his dazed status, which I am pretty sure is a miss. If its a hit it will do damage and give him a -2 to hit, -6 to hit me.

11:20, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 35 using 1d20+26 with rolls of 9.  Thought guardian vs will.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

The servant of Bahamut hisses when he reappears and takes a battery of attacks. ”You are a persistent lot. I see that I will need a different tactic to right the situation. Very well.”

He utters a word of power and teleports. He reappears near Zog. First, he calls forth his plain of tentacles again, which claw and grasp at a number of the party. Then he turns and blasts Zog with a ray of green magic. Necrotic energy rips into Zog, wracking him with debilitating pain.

Gromley misses I. Nemeroff, attacks you make from the blue alcove do +2d6 electrical damage. Vali misses, Harald hits twice by readying for the guy to be visible.

I regenerates 50. He uses a move action to teleport to current location and opens up another area attack. He hits Nemeroff, Harald, Vali and Agon for 26 damage and each of you four is restrained (save ends). The then spends his action point to hit Zog with a power for 33 necrotic damage. Zog is stunned (save ends) and I teleports to current location.

Just to confirm, Nemeroff does not take damage for stepping into Zog’s zone.

ALL PCS are up! Zog, you can remove your zone on your turn.

NOTE THE BLUE ZONE ON THE MAP. If you move into it, stop your movement and something happens.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Gromley Sets his will against the undead creatures, and forces him to march to his own zone of deadly magic. Also moving him closer to his friends so they can beat on him some more.

OOC-I rolled a crit on my betrayal. Normally I was going to use it to slide him back into his own zone and closer to the others. However, a crit would do max damage and psi damage. Can I have him attack himself? If I do psi damage to him, he will be at -2 to hit until the start of my next turn.

10:48, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 20 using 5d6 with rolls of 6,1,6,5,2.  Crit psi damage?
10:44, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 46 using 1d20+26 with rolls of 20.  Betrayal, 2 psi point. Should be a 48 because foe is dazed. Foe will be dazed until the start of Gromley's next turn.

Re: Chapter 2: Grasp of the Mantled Citadel

Having him attack himself is pointless, since he is resistant to his own attacks. Instead, we'll say he takes max damage from the tentacles when you slide him back into his own zone.

Key question: How many squares can you slide him?
