Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Sonliin's brow furrowed, deep in thought. "In our culture, when someone dies, they say that the person had returned to the native elements. For  Storm and Windsouls, we return to the winds.  There had been legends that some of the Stormsouls had a bit of dragon in them and Tagamut had started the line but it had been dismissed over the years as the dragonborn were descended from dragons. There has never been any genasi that had any scales, tails or wings that I know of, unless they did it using magical means." Sonliin said before spying the items on the ground. "My my, he did have quite the collection of treasure."

"As to being able to do it again, I have no idea there if I can do it at the drop of a hat or I needed to slip my mortal coil. For the time being, let not try to find out the answer to that question there Harald." Sonliin said with a smile.

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Assuming Agon and Martha are taking short rests as well and spending no surges.

There are three exits from this room, one heading west into darkness, one headed south to a set of double doors and, again into darkness, one headed east...

Which way do you go?

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Now that the fight was over and that Sonliin had explained himself, Darratheir took his bear skin back on his shoulder as the spirit of his old friend was fading once again.

Leaving the choice of the next destination to his companions, he then moved a bit away from the group and in the shadow, he knelt down and opened his backpack from which he pulled a torch and the small pouch containing the black powder he had already used. Dusting the torch slightly with the powder, he then lit it to reveal its black fire. He muttered some words to himself and promptly, he hung his free hand onto the burning torch. Suffering from the heat, his face twitched during a few seconds before he could extinguish the fire with his hand.

When he was done, he finally placed all his gear back into his backpack and joined the rest of the group to know if they had taken a decision.

Harald strode forward and thoughtfully looked at the three exits.

"Don't suppose it matters which way" he said before pointing to the east.  "But wisnae yon big bugger over that way?"

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Gromley tells you that the constructs are called slaughterstone hammerers; they are workers and guards, large natural animate constructs.

Agon has heard of them--he knows they will not attack if you do not violate their orders, but you don't know what their orders are.

"You know I am not the kind of Dragonborn to be cautious. Wether these contructs are guards or worker, I don't mind. If they attack us for no apparent reason, I will answer with all my power." answered Darattheir, looking at the East way.

"But if you prefer to check the other path first, I will follow you as well."

Zog shakes his head. "I would rather not provoke a fight with anything that actually belongs to Moradin. We are here to speak with him, not fight him. I would rather not test my mettle against a god, or even an aspect of a god, yet. I still say to the south." He moves to the door. "Same as before, though. Gromley, can you send your consciousness through this door to investigate?"

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

In reply to EpicOne (msg # 589):

Well, I see a large room, easily sixty feet across with a tall ceiling, holds three looming iron statues armed with a cruel blade and four humanoid constructs bristling with blades and saws. Three platforms fill three corners. Atop two are stone statues depicting dwarves. The third holds a stumpy construct whose upper body is an overlarge crossbow. A roaring fire fills the room’s center. Gromley sends mentally to the others to keep silent.

OOC: Die roller hates me.

Zog winces. "Lovely. More constructs. So we're going to have to fight our way through either way, it seems, unless we can come up with some way to convince automatons that we are on Moradin's side."

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Darratheir looked at Zog and Gromley after the last one sent his new indications mentally. "Whatever direction you want to take, I will stay in the background as I'm not the best suited to conduct diplomatic discussions." He then looked at his spear and added : "And I'm not sure they would recognize the Arrow or Fate anyway so that couldn't help."

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

'I don't think there will be much diplomacy with these automatons', Martha assures Darra. 'They sound like they could be automated workers designed by Moradin to assist at, and perhaps also in extreme times to guard, his forge.'

'We have no reason to fight them. I would suggest we confidently walk straight through either room, so long as it has an exit on the other side, and get through it ASAP. If we are lucky they will just keep working away and we'll be fine.'

'Gromley, did either room have an exit? If only one does, that's the one we should go through. If neither do, we try the third door. If both do, I say we go through the eastern door - the one the hydra was closest to.'

'I might even jog, for once.'
