Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Dakranad roars in indignation and pain when Agon's first hand grabs him. However, when the second hand moves to grab the dragon, it teleports away from the Bigby's Hand near the party. He then seems to explode in a flurry of energy, lashing at the eyes and minds of Harald, Zog, Gromley and Sonliin, leaving them reeling. He then teleports next to Gromley, delivers a scratch to the gnome, and appears next to Zog, slashing at him as well.

Despite this flurry of activity, the dragon seems concerned now...

The first of Agon's fists crits, but the second roll misses due to an Immediate Interrupt that also allows him to teleport near the party.

STANDARD: Using his last secret weapon, Dakranad uses his Encounter power (close burst 10 targeting 4 PCs) and a BENNY to hit Harald and  Zog with 18 radiant damage, 15 ongoing radiant damage and dazes them (save ends ongoing and dazed). Gromley uses Intellect Fortress to avoid being hit (see below); Sonliin uses Shield (see below). As part of same action, teleport near Gromley & Agon.
MINOR: Teleport slightly to his east and attack Gromley, hitting AC 44 for 29 damage. Then teleport near Zog and hit AC 40 for 30 hp.
MOVE: Teleport off the bridge to current location.

Harald is up! Note that you are Dazed (save ends), Harald.

EVERYONE NOTE: You have +1 attack rolls & +3 dmg while within 10 squares of Martha.

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Harald was not nonplussed by  Dakranad’s dazing attack.  He used his Dreadnaught’s abilities to shrug off the effect of the attack.  Sure it cost him in pain but that was of no account.  Then, instantly, he called upon the power of his magic bracers to stave off the ongoing damage.

“That wisna nice at a’, ya big galoot.” He cried.  “Ah’m gonna whip yer big fat arse for that.”

He strode across the bridge, unleashing the power of his Warsheath Armour as he did so.  The dragon was pulled inexorably across the parapet and into contact with the gallant dwarf.

It was then that Harald burst into action like a buzz saw.  First he walloped the dragon with a heartening blow.  It was so good the dwarf felt re-invigorated.

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

As Harald swings at the dragon, its prescient powers kick in and it vanishes, teleporting back over the abyss and leering at Harald. Despite the fear quaking it from Martha's earlier command, it then vanishes and reappears a small distance away from some of the party, its eye particularly on Zog, as it breathes pure energy on several of you, dazzling your eyes.

Dakranad uses his Immediate Interrupt to negate Harald's Victorious surge hit by adding +4 to his AC for that attack, and teleports 6 squares.

Harald does not expend Victorious Surge, as it is a Reliable power, and does not spend an Action Point.

On its turn, it teleports again to current location. Its breath weapon recharges, so it breathes on Sonliin (Reflex 49), Martha (Reflex 44) and Zog (Reflex 48) for 21 Radiant damage and each of you are Blind (save ends). Sonliin has already used his Immediate Interrupt this round.

He takes his 10 damage (5 fire, 5 poison) but fails both saves.

Sonliin is Bloodied.

Zog is up! Reminder that you are blind for the moment, Zog.

Zog reels a bit but, even half-dazed and blind, manages to point at Dakranad and deliver a blast of fire that catches the traitor-dragon in a ball of fire. He keeps the taunting down for the moment, as he is not able to properly defend against the dragon for the moment.

Blind, so use area affect attack. Ignition, hits Fort 48 for 46 fire. Create zone that does 6 fire damage to any creature that enters or ends its turn there.

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Gromley does not like to be hurt, and he likes his clothes ripped even less. As a result, he attempts to take control of the Dragon's wings-just for a bit, and move it right next to the very angry dwarf. Then he returns Darratheir from his other dimensional prison-who now should be over the whole dragon mind control thing. Of course, Gromley surrounds himself with a shield of mental force just in case the Dragoon survives this...

(OOC-Using Sudden control to move Dragon to current location. Dragon is not dominated or anything, just now in melee range of PO'd PCs.

00:21, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 44 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 15.  Bennie re-roll to get over 10+.
00:21, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 38 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 9.  Bennie re-roll.
00:21, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 31 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 2.  Sudden control.

Using the following on myself as a minor action after that.

Mind Shroud: Encounter, Minor action. Until the end of users next turn, has
superior cover and is slowed.)

Zog continues to harass the dragon with his attacks, not hurting it as much as before but still shoving it proverbially closer to death. Then Gromley literally brings it next to the others as its eyes go wide...

Well, that certainly puts a damper on Dakranad's plans :-)

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Finally returning from another dimension, Darratheir had the great pleasure to find himself near Dakranad. Seeing Harald on his other flank, the Dragonborn had a great smile covering his disfigured face. "Oh, that will be fun for sure!"

Taking a firm grip on the Arrow of Fate, he looked at the Dragon, impassive. "What will you do now that you can't control me ? Judging by your pitiful state, my friends here have had good fun with you while I was away. But I might be the one who will end you. With the same Arrow of Fate you used to control my mind. You shouldn't have pissed me off!"

Raising his weapon high in the air, he finally yelled with all his rage. "NOW, DIE!" He then hit Dakkranad with all the ferocity he had to retain because of the repeated control to a point where he was so enraged he attacked twice.

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

For one of those rare moments, an enemy actually takes a command from a hero. After being blinded by Martha, Dakranad swings its head around right into the path of Darratheir's blow, which cuts the dragon's neck. Black blood sprays everywhere as the dragon flails. Darratheir brings his blade down again into the wound and he is drenched in Dakranad's life-blood.

Dakranad staggers back. "NO! I was to be a god, you see! A god...."

He collapses square on the middle of the walkway, unmoving. The party can see the Creation Spark burning in a small pouch of woven gold around his neck, now easily within reach.

It is at this point, the party's attention is focused again on the bridge.  The bridge stretches ahead, vanishing into a curtain of golden light. A magnificent figure stands before it—an angel. Its obscured features reveal little of its intent, but the flaming sword it wields suggests only worthy souls can pass. Throughout this entire battle, the angel has simply stood watch, and continues to do so.

Covered in black blood, Darratheir moved a bit away from the dragon corpse and he cleaned the Arrow of Fate. "We are one step closer to the balance of power you are seeking, Arrow." he whispered to himself.

Then, without cleaning himself too much, he moved back to were his bear skin were so he could retrieve it and he knelt down. Searching in his backpack, he retrieved his torch and the pouch containing the black powder he had already used in the past. Igniting a black fire and extinguishing it with his bare hand as usual, he completed his ritual and whispered once again. "And I'm one step closer to my revenge."

When he was done, he began to properly clean himself and his clothes before joining the rest of the group.

Everyone who's going to try to prevent Martha from throwing the spark over the edge roll initiative to see if someone beats her to it. No attack powers on Martha, however--grappling, interposing your bodies etc. are acceptable ways to deal with this.

And if Martha succeeds, you are definitely eligible to jump after the spark etc. Initiative first, though.

We will be handing it over to those blasted angels and the other godly servants. An item of such power as this godspark will only wreak havok in the world. It should be destroyed.'

I really don't think there is any need for initiative or grappling! But if you want go ahead, Martha will not resist so it's an auto-success.

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Moving closer to Martha, Darratheir stretched his opened hand. "You can give it to me if you wish. I am bond to the Arrow of Fate and our role is to restore the balance between Tiamat and Bahamut. Whomever would like to stop us would have to kill me first."

He then looked behind his shoulder to see Dakranad's body. "And I will remind them how I brought this dragon life to a close."

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

Zog's eyes go wide as Martha moves to throw away the object of their little quest. He relaxes visibly when she pauses. He then nods. "I think Darratheir's on to something. If he bears the Arrow of Fate, maybe they'll let him in past the big blazing light-gate and not leave it in the hands of strangers. Let me try."

He approaches to a reasonable distance and addresses the angel. "In the name of Bahamut, I seek an audience with you, mighty angel!"

If the angel as much as looks at him, he will regale it with the story of their quest, ending with, "I swear on my life and in the name of Bahamut my friend that this is the truth. If you let Darratheir and Amyria past, they will complete the task at hand and bring Bahamut back. This is the simple truth."

Re: Chapter 4: Once Loyal

"Yikes!"

Harald started to move towards Martha as her arm went up and her intention looked clear.  He knew he would be far too slow to stop her from throwing the Spark from the bridge but if she did throw it, he wanted to be ready to follow it down.

As the action seemed to be stalled, he waited patiently to see if the silver tongues of his companions would persuade Martha to hold her action.  But still he was ready to jump!
