Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Gormley proceeds to use his healing aura, and readies his floating disk. He proceeds to move his awareness where the wounded dragon ally should be. Prepared to heal it so it could come to their aid.

(Ooc-minor action. Using bard helping aura. Zog can spend a healing surge and heal an extra +5d6 damage(+19 extra for Zog). Anyone within 6 spaces of Gromley can use a healing surge on themselves or someone else as above as a minor action, up to two more times.

Move and standard action. Moves awareness to wear the other dragon is under the collapsed roof. Trying to find it and heal it next round.)

Harald shook his head to try to clear his mind and his vision but to no effect.

“Aaargh!  Ye bastid!  Whit did ye dae tae me?”

He staggered to the side and hacked away at the dragon’s tough hide.  Again and again his axe plunged deep into Namiisi’s side but it was like a puppy licking his mother...

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Sonliin unleashes fire that the dragon partially dodges--and the blast of fire that it takes does it no harm whatsoever! Harald's axe, however, does manage to at least bruise the mighty beast, weakening a spot of its scales and drawing blood!

Sonliin misses Namissi for 20 fire; it has resist 20 fire now, so it ignores the damage.

Harald hits twice, and it's bloodied again.

Agon, Zog and Darratheir are up--Zog and Darratheir, remember that you are dazed. Reminder: DO NOT post your turn until your name is called.

Double move and minor to move INTO the other tower. Intent is to climb up to his level, as long as that takes. If he's energy resistant, then I have one more trick up my sleeve.

The party's domination (literal and figurative) of this figure that somehow beat up Bahamut continues.

Agon does hit with Bewitching Gaze as well as with the grasping hand. Needless to say, Darratheir hits. :-)

Agon, what does Namissi do on his dominated turn?

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Namissi continues to shout orders. He specifically is calling his troops to an assault on a spot where there is no concentration of Bahamut's forces, leaving them vulnerable to the Platinum Dragon's army by exposing their flank or deploying resources to useless spots. To the credit of his army, they mostly do not deviate from their orders, to their doom...

As Agon said.

Gromley, Sonliin and Harald are up! Gromley, you can make it down to be next to Bahamut this round and still have a Standard and Minor left.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Harald finds the dragon's scales well-nigh impossible to penetrate, but all of Harald's hammering weakens them enough for Sonliin to draw more blood!

Perhaps the most impressive thing happens below, though. With just one majestic word from Gromley, Bahamut regains consciousness and is covered with a swirl of gold. He begins to heal faster than Gromley could possibly restore him...

Harald, despite a Benny, misses. Sonliin hits solidly. Gromley revives a god, who is going to open a can on Namissi next round. Don't bother wasting any more healing on him, Gromley--you got him conscious, that's all that was needed. He's regenerating 200 hp per round.

Agon, Zog, Darratheir are up! Zog, for fun, let's say you're able to climb up and attack this round. If you have any big bang powers you want to get in, get 'em in now.

Agon continued his mental assault. This was no time to let the exarch escape or fight back.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Zog quckly uses his flying power to help him ascend the ladder, burst it open and stab the exarch of Tiamat right where it hurts.

Ensorcelled Blade, good roll to hit for 37 untyped damage. There's an effect related to electricity, but that doesn't hurt him.

17:04, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 37 using 2d4+33 with rolls of 1,3.  Damage.
17:03, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 50 using 1d20+33 with rolls of 17.  Ensorcelled Blade on Namissi.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Zog rises from below and hits the dragon. Darratheir hits it harder. Agon, for his part, then sustains his control.

Then, there is a roar and a boom of thunder. Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon, rises from below. He utters a word of power and Namissi is wracked with pain. Bahamut's wounds are fading away with astonishing speed.

"Finish him, friends," he says to the party...

Agon, tell us what Namissi does with his last living moments. Gromley, your move.

Reminder: DO NOT post your turn until your name is called.

Map: https://docs.google.com/drawin...Q50-wFOAK6P78Lk/edit

Terrain Features:
Ceiling: 30 feet high.
Illumination:  The City of Brass is brightly lit day and night.
Rubble  These areas of loose scree are difficult terrain. A creature that runs, charges, or makes a double move through rubble must make a DC 20 Acrobatics check or fall prone.  Large or smaller creatures moving through areas of rubble on the sloping roof (see below) are slowed.
Rubble Pile  Fallen rock and debris are piled to a mheight of 20 feet. A rubble pile must be climbed with a DC 15 Athletics check.
Sloping Roof:  The roof of this section of the Charcoal Palace inside the parapets and the curtain wall slopes steeply up toward the center and the area of collapse. These areas are difficult terrain.
Weakened Roof  The shattered roof has been weakened in the areas indicated on the tactical map. A creature that walks on one of these areas triggers a collapse, and must make a DC 33 Acrobatics check or plunge down in a fall of rubble. A creature that falls is buried. A buried creature can clamber out of the area of collapse with two DC 33 Athletics checks. Up to three characters adjacent to the collapse on the roof can assist this check.  Namissi is too large to fall if an area of weakened roof collapses beneath him. If the blue exarch triggers a collapse, he is slowed until the start of his next turn.
Collapsed Roof  The roof of this section of the Char- coal Palace has been shattered and collapsed where Namissi and Bahamut fought. The Platinum Dragon lies wounded and half-buried within the rubble. The bottom of the collapse is 50 feet below the peak of the shattered roof. A creature that cannot fly or teleport down into the rubble must climb down with a DC 28 Athletics check.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Namissi had to be trapped in a nightmare, able to see and hear everything, but unable to act, even to save himself. Evil has he was, he still deserved some dignity in death. Agon reached out telepathically.  "What are your last words, Namissi?"

He forced the dragon's neck out, waiting for Bahamut's Justice.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Namissi lies down in front of Bahamut and manages to spit out the words, "Tiamat will win!"

Bahamut pauses for a long moment and then rips Namissi's head off with his massive jaws and flings Namissi's head high into the air.

With the death of Namissi and the breaking of Tiamat’s control over the shrine of Imix, the Dragon Queen’s forces are quickly routed by the remainder of Bahamut’s army and the forces of the City of Brass. The City of Brass has been devastated by the battle, but the efreets will rebuild. With Bashamgurda and Namissi gone, Estumishu quickly establishes consensus among the efreets for his claim to the throne even as he offers his unwavering loyalty to Bahamut.

When the battle is done and you have taken a well-deserved rest, Bahamut leads you to the ruined courtyard of the Charcoal Palace.

Amid the rubble and ruin, an honor guard of efreets and dragons flanks you on both sides. “Champions,” the Platinum Dragon says again, “your bravery has won the battle for the City of Brass. The Dragon Queen’s forces are routed, her blue exarch slain. This is a great day ... but I fear it will end again in darkness before the dawn can finally be won.”

End of Chapter 5!
