Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Martha feels, rather than hears, Bashumgarda join the fray, and she grimaces. 'I better check the boys are okay', she agrees with Darratheir. 'Do it quickly. We'll need you out there'.

She turns and moves across the rubble as fast as she can, stopping at the wall of flame.
'I've got your back Sonliin' she shouts through the flames, bolstering his attacks and defences.

Double move 12 E-N; beat athletics; trigger OA from PA.
Healing Word on Martha & Sonliin. Both healed to max, and both get: +2 to attack rolls EONT & +2 defences EONT & +4 fort defence (& +4 poison saves eont).

08:31, Today: Martha rolled 26 using 1d20+14 with rolls of 12.  Athletics rubble.
09:19, Today: Martha rolled 64,63 using 7d6+43,7d6+40 with rolls of 6,2,1,1,5,1,5,1,6,2,5,5,3,1.  Healing word martha, sonliin.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

While the dazzled pyromancer staggers a bit, the other severely wounded one blasts Sonliin with fire, roaring his defiance even as he bleeds to death. Meanwhile, the other three pyromancers pick on the blinded Harald, lashing him with fire and dragging him into the nearby building where his feet, bound with fire, are tied together.

P1 fails save vs. stunned. P2 crits Sonliin, who takes 27 fire, plus 20 ongoing fire (before resist and vulnerable) next round; he fails both saves (again). P3-5 combine attacks on Harald; all hit for a whopping 12 damage after resistance but they drag Harald 6 squares (after -1 forced movement from Harald’s dwarfness) and slide him to his current location, where he is immobilized (save ends).

Zog is up!!

Terrain Features:
Ceiling: 30 feet high.
Illumination: The City of Brass is brightly lit day and night.
Wall of Fire The wall is 6 squares high and blocks line of sight. The wall’s space is heavily obscured and is difficult terrain. A creature that starts its turn adjacent to the wall takes 10 fire damage. A creature that enters a square of the wall or starts its turn there takes 20 fire damage
Wall of Elemental Stone: The barracks com- plex of the Ring of Fire has been surrounded by a cordon of elemental stone for protection. This rough stone wall is 60 feet high, 10 feet thick, and can be climbed with a DC 19 Athletics check. Any creature that comes into contact with the wall or starts its turn there is pummeled by the wall and subject to an attack: +33 vs. Reflex; 3d8 + 10 damage, and the target falls from the wall and is knocked prone. A creature that falls from the wall takes additional fall- ing damage as normal.
The heroes are free to fly over the wall, but they draw ranged attacks and will be pursued by the ground forces here. The total flying distance from one side of the wall to the other is 130 feet (26 squares).
Rubble These areas of loose scree are difficult terrain. A creature that runs, charges, or makes a double move through rubble must make a DC 20 Acrobatics check or fall prone.
Rubble Pile Fallen rock and debris are piled to a height of 10 feet. A rubble pile must be climbed with a DC 15 Athletics check. Remember, if you have a modifier of +14 or higher, you do NOT have to roll.
Elemental Vent Vents jetting pure elemental energy dot the area before the wall. Any creature that ends its turn adjacent to an elemental vent takes 3d6 + 6 cold, fire, and lightning damage. A creature that enters an elemental vent or starts its turn there takes 3d10 + 10 cold, fire, and lightning damage, and is stunned (save ends).  Each round on initiative count 0, roll a d10 for each elemental vent. On a roll of 10, the vent flares up unpredictably. Any creature adjacent to the vent takes 3d8 + 8 fire damage.
Building: Buildings adjacent to the area are of stone construction and from 30 to 50 feet high.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Zog steps through the wall of fire, wincing as it singes him, and then raises his hand. A blast of electricity dances among the nearby pyromancers, hurting them. ”That should get their attention,” he says, smiling at the one that he threatens with his dagger.

Move through wall of fire, taking 7 fire damage. Elemental Bolt, hits P2 (Reflex 47) for 54 lightning. that probably finishes him off.

Tired of being next to the wall of fire, Sonliin stepped closer to Bashumgarda and started to crackle with lighting, letting lose with a blast of energy that lashed out at Bashumgarda and one of the Pyromancers. Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

"It's time to said good by to you life, Pyremaster. I have more important business here." said Darratheir before swinging his blade in the creature's chest. And before the dead creature body fell on the ground, the Dragonborn had already moved close to Martha so he could join the main fight with the rest of his companions. "Did I missed something fun here ?" he asked to the others.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

The immobilizing field of force faded, and several efreet were left standing.  They would make the perfect victims for Agon's favorite tactic.  He cast Bigby's Hands, seizing two of the foes and crushing them.

As if as an afterthought, he cut down the last Magmacaster with a bolt of magic.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Sonliin takes damage from the fire bothering him before he wounds the pyromancer that he hits, but misses another, and most importantly further bruises Bashumgarda. Darratheir, meanwhile, slays his target and moves to engage foes further.  Agon then slays the last of the magmacasters while grabbing the pyromancers.

Confirming what you wrote in your turns; P3 is now Bloodied.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

quote:
Are you ok? Do you need help?

"Nae problem, Grom.  Just gie's a wee minute an' Ah'll be straight back oot o' here."

Harald strained against the immobilizing effect that had been cast upon him and with a might surge, managed to break free.

“That wisnae nice” he roared,  “Tryin’ tae keep me oot o’ a fight, would ye?”

He was still blind but somehow was able to dig deep down inside himself to regain his vision.  It hurt!  But not as bad as missing a fight.

Ducking and weaving he moved past the dragon-Sonliin and leapt to the side of two of the pyremasters.  The third one was out of reach but a little ‘gentle urging soon brought him closer.

“And noo for the next act” he roared as his axe swung back and forth, smashing into each beast in turn.

Ignore Weakness (Encounter): No action; start your turn immobilised, slowed, or weakened by an effect that a save can end;  Make a saving throw at +5
01:43, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 24 using 1d20+5 with rolls of 19.  Save vs immobilized.

Unfailing Resources: Free action -
can take 10 damage to save automatically vs save ends effect.  Go to -16hp.

Defensive Advance (Encounter):  +2 power bonus to all defences.  AC 43/ Fort 43/ Ref 36/ Will 38
Also shift up to my speed to a square adjacent to an enemy (as per map)

Warrior’s Urging:  Close burst 4 - each enemy in burst I can see (P3, P4, P5).  I pull the targets up to 3 squares as long as they can end adjacent to me.  Once adjacent I can attack (burst 1) +31 vs AC;  Damage 2d10 + 15.
Attack with CA thanks to Martha.  Also gain 5 temp HP

Crit vs P3; damage = 35+21 = 56 + 20 ongoing damage (save ends)
22:31, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 21 using 3d10 with rolls of 4,7,10.  Crit damage vs P3.
Damage vs P4=24
Damage vs P5=27

22:32, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 27 using 2d10+15 with rolls of 7,5.  Damage vs P5.
22:32, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 24 using 2d10+15 with rolls of 2,7.  Damage vs P4.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Under the assault from Martha, Harald and Gromley, one of the pyromancers dies and the others are wounded by the party’s blazing, brilliant and improbable assault. Unable to maintain the wall of fire started by their dead compatriots, the two pyremancers find themselves fighting for their lives with their scimitars against Harald. One lands a solid gash on the mighty warrior, but it looks like this is too little, too late for the pyremancers, whose noble leader has vanished from sight thanks to Gromley.

P3 drops from Harald’s attack. P4 and P5 emerge bloodied. P4 hits Harald for 26 untyped damage and Harald is slowed until end of P4’s next turn.

Map: https://docs.google.com/drawin...Q50-wFOAK6P78Lk/edit

When the Wall of Fire fell down, Darratheir was ready to rush toward Bashumgarda. But as he was unable to see it, he stopped dead and yelled "Where is it ? Where is Bashumgarda ?" Not willing to engage with someone else, he waited for either an answer or seeing him back.

OOC: Assuming that I haven't seen him disappear as I was on the other side of the walls (Fire and Stone). I am delaying my action until Big D is back. Tell me if you prefer prepared action instead.

Gromley's awareness will pull back a bit, only to create a portal which the Efreet leader drops through. Making sure he is in the open and easily picked out by all his friends for their attacks.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Harald smiled a broad gap-toothed smile when Bashumgarda reappeared.

“Ah!  There ye are.  Ah was wonderin’ where ye'd gotten to.  Noo get yer backside o’er here so Ah can gie you an’ yer wee pals a good seein’ to.”

The dwarf activated the power of his Warsheath armour to drag the efreet over adjacent to him.  And then he struck!  His axe clove into the gigantic efreet and shook the very ground.  The blow was so hard that even one of the adjacent Pyremasters was affected and fell to the ground.

As to Bashumgarda, his entrails were strewn across the baked earth and he was sent sprawling after them, his head reeling in pain and confusion.

“An’ how dae ye like them apples?” scoffed the dwarf.

Minor action: activate warsheath armour and pull Bashumgarda adjacent
Standard: Earthquake Smash vs Efreet and both Pyremasters.  Crit on B!
Damage on Bashumgarda = 50 damage (normal maxed) + 19 + 20 ongoing (save ends).  B is knocked prone and dazed till end of H’s next turn.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

As Darratheir was going to shout out to Bashumgarda, he was about to open his mouth when he saw the creature move toward the Dwarf. "No, Harald ! Don't think you will get all the fun for yourself. I was going to talk to this guy before cutting him in piece and you won't stop me."

Red with anger, the Dragonborn moved quickly toward his target and stopped to the opposite of Harald. "Let's see who can injure him the most, would you ? The loser will pay his round !" he added in direction of the Dwarf before raising his blade and slashing in the flesh two time so quickly Bashumgarda couldn't evade them.
