Chapter 5--Test of Fire

The realm of Celestia vanishes to be replaced with a  eld of shimmering, silver light. You  nd yourselves soaring like disembodied spirits in a bright nonspace surrounding a crystal teardrop that grows in size as you plunge toward it. With a shudder, you pass within. Suddenly you are standing on a white dais in a great translucent chamber. Crystal walls reflect the dozen great dragons surrounding you.

Silver and gold, copper and iron, and all the other hues of the metallic dragon races are here, but there is no mistaking the monumental  figure that all give fealty to. Bahamut has abandoned his humanoid form and now towers before you once more, proud and mighty. But then the great Platinum Dragon dips his head, slightly but significantly. One by one, the other dragons follow, lowering their heads nearly to the level of yours in a majestic salute.

“Friends,” Bahamut rumbles. “Champions. Welcome. You will be my guests here on the Astral Plane. I am certain most of you would like rest and all of you respite after your efforts."

Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Martha - for once - is overcome in the presence of Bahamut in his true form. She bows her head with the dragons. Before she can stop a tear slips from her eye. She wipes it quickly with her sleeve. She cannot find any words to speak.

Harald is also slow to speak but does manage to stutter a few words of thanks.

"Tha...that would be most appreciated, my lord Bahamut."

"Indeed, a rest would be nice, the calm before the storm." Sonliin said as another, deeper sounding voice started to emit from the paladin.

"This tempest I fear will shake the very foundations of the heavens, Grandfather..." the voice said in draconic.

Zog looks at Sonliin sideways before nodding. "Thank you, Bahamut. A rest would be appreciated. But not too much. I, for one, am eager to consider plans going forward. Rest has always made me...restive."

Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Gromley returns the bows of the dragons, and gives another to the first of dragons himself. "It's good to see you back as you always should be, Lord of Platinum. Now I can tell your servant that I kept my promise to her indeed."

Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Just like the others, Darrathier nodded the head to all of the dragons. "A rest would be greatly appreciated, indeed. We will need to gather our forces for what we will have to face."

Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Agon gazed around the immense crystal hall, full of divine dragons. "I would hazard we are the first humanoids to see this chamber in thousands of years, perhaps ever. This is a singular honor, Lord."

Chapter 5--Test of Fire

The heroes are made welcome to the Crystal Tear, abounded astral dominion of sweeping crystal chambers set with pillars of platinum and other precious metals. This is the war room and council chamber from which Bahamut and his exarchs direct the battle against the armies of Tiamat.

After a drawn-out process of introduction between the characters and the council, Bahamut directs the characters to private chambers, saying he will meet them shortly for further conversation. The adventurers’ quarters are in an opulent wing of marble halls whose shape and contents are divinely mutable according to the characters’ own will.

Each of you describe one thing you "make" with your minds in your temporary quarters.

Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Harald flopped down on a comfortable bed and kicked off his heavy sandals.

"This is grand" he grunted as he looked around.  "It jist needs wan thing..."

Over in the corner, appearing like magic - which of course it was - was a bar counter!

The dwarf slowly stood and walked over, licking his lips at the thought of heavenly ale.

Chapter 5--Test of Fire

If those in the party go looking for Zog, they have some difficulty finding him. If someone calls his name, eventually they find him. He is back in the human shape that the party met him in, sitting in what appears to be a simple cottage in some woods. He looks quite peculiar, as if something has been playing on his emotions, almost as if he were lonely or homesick. He looks around the place before nodding wordlessly to whoever found him and leaving with them away from this place that his mind created for him out of a place long past and long lost...
