Re: OOC #3

Good news, was able to get the new thread going. Let me know what questions you have, IC or OOC. (In other words, if your character has a question for Bahamut, ask IC. If you have a mechanical/metagame question, ask me OOC.)

Re: OOC #3

Okay, so we get to decide the layout of the battlefield?

I'd suggest something like: https://imgur.com/a/wxr0w

We have a killing zone 10' away from our ranged attackers, a front line for the melee people to hold, and some twisty corridors to keep them from getting fire superiority on us.  Thoughts? I don't know all of your powers enough to be 100% sure this is best.

Agon can also use the Safeguard ritual to install a magical sensor for stealthy attackers.

OOC post to come.

Re: OOC #3

If we can bunch them up Herald has taken Grim Reaper.  Close burst 1 then shift 2 and a secondary close burst 1.   Great if there happen to be minions amongst them.

Otherwise I just have hacking attacks although there can be quite a lot of ducking and weaving in there.

As to your plan Agon, can we really shape things that much?

Re: OOC #3

I don't know.  DM, how much can we shape the battlefield?

I was thinking about making the killing zone 3 squares wide, because a lot of powers are Burst 1.  Still gives us some room to maneuver, and makes it harder for enemies to run past the blockers.

Re: OOC #3

I like your plan Agon. Having some kind of killbox (If we can do it this way) would probably help us prevent their advance. We can take a good round of damage with the healers watching our backs.

Re: OOC #3

You seem to have taken liberty with my intentions. My intentions were that the eastern and western borders of the area were under your control. However, the idea of having barriers put up in place is amusing and worthy.

That being said, your layout was waaaaaaay too elaborate, Agon. If you had a few days, Agon could shape that much astral space together. Assume you have about 150' of "astral wall" to work with. Try using shapes on the Google Draw to map it out. I gave you an example "kill zone" that you can work with. I'm assuming, though, that you may want gaps or the like.

A "secret door" is definitely feasible--you would have time to build something like that, but it would cost you wall space, maybe 20' worth of wall for every one, given the time you'd need to shape it.

Hah!  My misguided youth drawing castles will pay off one day!

But seriously, just these two walls are fine. I didn't want to try and defend a portal from 180 degrees.

Waiting for Gromley, Harald, Sonliin and Zog to post IC, or OOC with questions. Giving everyone 'til Monday or until everyone checks in to launch into the combat, whichever comes first. (And I'll answer questions before we start the fight, so if you have questions, get 'em in quick.)

Re: OOC #3

If Darratheir and Harald stand one square in from left and right we would control the whole width of the passage.  The others staying a couple of squares back can pile in ranged attacks and heal where necessary.

I can always create an Illusory Wall and we can set up a kill zone with that.

I vote for the Illusory Wall. That sounds fantastic. How long does it last, Sonliin?

Re: OOC #3

Illusory Wall is a Daily that lasts until the end of the encounter. Key point, though: you will be getting short rests between waves, not that Sonliin needs to take one every time you do.

This week, expect updates from me Wednesday, Friday and once or twice over the weekend. Giving you until Wednesday to finalize plans before the enemies start coming.

Let's go toe to toe and save our heavy powers for later guys. These mooks will only hit on nat 20's and if they do, make sure they are one of the targets in your attack.
