In the Ninjas' Lair

The smell of burning flesh and silk is overshadowed only by the stench of poisonous  gas. The sould of coughing can be heard.

In the Ninjas' Lair

In reply to Narrator (msg # 1):

Ales continues to hold firm in doing nothing, the exercise of being aware, yet not acting refreshingly new to him.  He hopes he can gather enough mana from the surroundings soon that he can kill this damn ninja wizard and see what he has on him that has those other ninjas concerned.

In the Ninjas' Lair

Beyond standing at the sound of approaching coughs, Chou-Zhen remains still and ready, resting as well as possible.  An idea strikes him.

"Kho Khilana?  If foul-smelling, toxic airs will do you no harm, might Ales and I each have one of your cakes that allows us to gather mana more quickly?"

Ales, overhearing Chou's request, tips his head to acknowledge he is in agreement with Chou.  "If that was possible, we would be most grateful for your patronage."

Iskander resisted the urge to blurt out: "Oh, fine! why not put the kettle on as well?" but, kept silent, not wanting to give his position away, for the sake of humor.

"For your need, I can endure it"

Moments later, the mist stirs, revealing the form of the demi
divine personage in the mist, and small cakes find their way
 into your hands.

"My thanks, Divine Lady."  Chou-Zhen accepts the proffered cake with a deep bow, and consumes it quickly before returning to his watchful state.

For her pains, an arrow flies out of the mist and sticks partway into her, looking as if half an arrow were suspended
in air.

Ales likewise accepts the cake and, after bowing, eats it.  He returns to a watchful state and a look of sheer horror appears as he sees an arrow head straight for Kho.

He opens his mouth to try and warn her... but the arrow has already hit her.
