Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 579):

A faint scraping sound can be heard from above. A moment later, and there is a deluge of offal from an unseen point in the ceiling. The water reddens with blood as bits of intestine bob on the surface. Rats dive into the water to gorge themselves, and in the distance you hear a bellow.

Clair cups her mouth and nose as she quickly averts her eyes from the horrible sight. When the Slorn bellows she nervously grabs Brodericks arm with one hand and with a muffled voice asks if they really need to be in this place.

In reply to Clair Leibert (msg # 582):

Melchizadek smiles at the dump. Though not pretty, it is the bait Broderick was looking for.

"You wanted bait, we got it. Now lets go do what we came to do." His hand continues to glow as he pressed forward looking to see the source of the bellow.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 584):

Melchizadek stops and readies his sunbolt, bracing his hand in what perhaps looks a little comical.

[Private to GM: Rolled 5 under skill, but add 2 for Acc, 1 for bracing as he is using a 1 handed weapon (his finger) with both hands, so 8 under minus any penalties! Lol, kind of like kids playing cops and robbers, bracing their hand with their other hand, only he really does shoot a bolt of light from his finger! 4 points focused burning or imp?]

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Darius grimaced from the smell and grime. He should've stayed at the Guild - raising the dead was far more hygienic!
Still, the Slorn should be close, and he prepared for binding it.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Darius Kopaki (msg # 587):

To clarify: the hole the meat byprod fell through is above the wet tunnel, on the other side of the gate, about 4 yards away. Nothing fell into the narrow access tunnel you are in.

The rats are congregating, and something large is approaching. The gate has space only for two to attempt to fling something through the holes, and one needs either cast at -4 to get through the gate, or extend staff or hand through it.

Melchizidek can do this, but needs to see his target; the primary illumination is his nimbus of light, and Carruther's lantern. Neither extends particularly far into the tunnel.

Noticing the stirring in the water Broderick ensures he Clair, Carruthers and Smasher [Private to GM: including Phylicity] are out of the area of effect of any possible toxic breath.

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 589):

In that case Melchizadek will fall back with Broderick and hold his attack (rolled above) until he has a definite target, accepting the -4 for shooting through the bars if necessary.

Grimaldi silently observes the others, and centers himself in the group, so everyone is within the area of effect, should he need to protect them.

A massive shape surfaces in the water and bellows, taking a mouthfull of several rats.
The rats start swimming toward the sides of the tunnel, and begin to pour through the gate.

"Let's get into position. Master Liebert and company, this is the same slorn, you are sure?"

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Grimaldi (msg # 595):

Broderick shrugged, surprised that Grimaldi wasn't in position considering the time group had been waiting for the Slorn to make its appearance. I'd suspect the creatures are territorial which suggests it is. Broderick hadn't a clue if it was or wasn't, and wasn't about to examine it in its current condition, on the off-chance it wasn't.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Clair muffels a sweak at the odious sight, of Swarming Rats and the horrid Slorn as it devours Rats, taking place in front of her. Focusing for a moment a stone sphere formed in her hand. Once it was ready she targed the slorn then flung the projectile at it and rat swarm.

[Private to GM: 10:33, Today: Secret Roll: Clair Leibert rolled 11 v Skill 15 create Stone missile,
Then 8 vs 11 Missile attack & 7 damage.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Darius jostled for a good position to target the Slorn, readying to bind it.

[Private to GM: Planned to cast once possible (i.e. next turn when there's free line of sight through the grate). Specific spell is Frozen Bonds (DF19:27). Three of those are prepared (see spell list). Next turn, I will roll against the preparation roll of Elementalism-2 (in effect rolling this retroactively, with critical failure causing the issue immediately) and afterwards roll to actually cast at the Slorn (which resists this with either HT or Will). This would have an effective binding ST of Elementalism + 6, i.e. 24.]

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Broderick was unsure if blinding it was the best course of action. But that's what these Professionals suggested. Hopefully the beast won't run off once the manage to blind it.
