In reply to scaly thing (msg # 631):

Melchizadek aims carefully, taking his time.

[Private to GM: Previous shot included that, actually included a -7 for the skull. As quoted from message #613:

Rolled 8 to hit, and damage. Target 16(Skill)+2(Acc)+2(Extra time)+1(Braced)+1(Determined)-7(Head)-4(Bars)=11, beat target by 3. Rolled 8 impaling or focused burning to head? Magic says impaling, but errata say focused burning...unless dodged!

In reply to Melchizidek (msg # 630):

Really... Is that what you think. We had a time to discuss this and how to go about it. Makeing comments like that hardly inspire confidence in your abilities. I assumed wisdom was one of the virtues inherrent in all of the cloth.

In reply to Grimaldi (msg # 634):

"Indeed. And wisdom dictates that the best laid plans in combat need to be flexible. The original plans did not include such confined spaces. Do you have the key, or would you like to hold a conference to discuss it? Perhaps we should invite the slorn to join the committee?"

In reply to Melchizidek (msg # 635):

ooc which illustration are we using the original or the revised one?

Broderick rolled his eyes and looked at the Priest in an indulgent manner Yes indeed, I didn't expect a proposal like that to come from such a  Adventurer; let us fling open the gate and let the Slorn participate in your proposed discourse.

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 636):

Melchizadek has a chuckle at the thought.

"Rafik, what did you have in mind with the key? Apparently Broderick is rather protective of it..."

Darius followed the exchange with an incredulous expression upon his face, mirroring Grimaldi's. He shot a look and a shrug at Melchizidek, then listened whether the Slorn managed to break free yet.

Out of any possible area of effect from the Slorn's breath, Broderick waited confident that the skirmish would finish quickly as the Casters applied their abilities against the creature.

"Perhaps we should make room for Rafik's archery. Those of us that produce light, could stand on either side of the gate, illuminating the way, for his arrows to find their mark, in this darkness. I can provide a blazing torch on my blade, and we have the celestial's nimbus..."

There was no need to respond to Grimaldi's comment, Broderick knew that these fellows knew what they are about. They would go about their business whatever he suggested, instead he motioned that he wasn't adverse to the proposal.

18:25, Today: Grimaldi rolled 12 using 3d6 ((2,4,6)). flaming weapon - 14
Grimaldi draws his estoc, and utters the words:"flammis, veni foras!"
From the cross guard to the blades tip, a whoosh of flames encompasses his blade, and brings forth their illumination. He stands to left of the gate, holding his sword, aloft.

In reply to Melchizidek (msg # 647):

The slorn seems to be enraged by the burning headshot, and bellows deeply, and shatters the bonds of magical ice that hold it in place! These creatures appear to be so monumentally stupid that they don't recognize brain damage, and appear to be hard to kill.

Priest, your intention to change the mode of engagement, which all here agreed on, is unprofessional. You should have voiced you support of this mode of dealing with the beast earlier. Unless another two of the Group wish to amend their decision, I suggest you cease pursuit of the matter.

Grimaldi ends the spell, and backs away, getting more in the midst the other others.
He watches the slorn's movements carefully, aware that now free, the beast could turn and bring it's cloud upon them.

"Your inability to adapt to changing conditions is both childish and dangerous. If you remember, the initial plan called for us to be beyond the creature range, which we are not. We will speak of this later. Are you going to do anything useful at all?"

He swaps places with Rafik and fires off the sunbolt at the creatures Torso, after taking a moment to aim.
