Re: Broderick's Expedition

"It's not the spirit of the owner, priest... The magic is too minor. Rather, it's residual essence is enough to invoke the anomaly. My studies in necromancy haven't crossed the threshold of learning "death vision". This is the spell which is needed before learning to summon, and later bind and enslave spirits, and raise the dead. Besides, I only use the skulls of blackguards and scum, who are better off dead." Grimaldi spat upon the floor.
"hmph hmm hmm hmm..."
"Priest, if you don't like me... wait til you get a load of him."
Grimaldi nodded at the necromancer, whose aura and magic he could feel.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Broderick's brows wrinkled, it was beginning to turn out like this was going to be one of those days it wasn't worth the effort of getting out of Bed.... Ah Bed... Uhmmm, oh! my better keep the group moving he thought. Ok then before we get too much closer to the grate we should decide who will be engaging the Slorn, with spell or missile

In reply to Grimaldi (msg # 555):

"Necromancers! The scum of the earth. Lets deal with the creature we came here to deal with, before I invoke the light of Helios on them or they turn their creations onto me!"

He casts a spell to make his hand glow.

Grimadli was amused.
"Heh heh.. Monsieur Kopaki, did you hear that? You and I are the two pieces 'o bread in this here, shit-sandwich."
Grimaldi chuckled again.
"I know how you feel priest. The guild has it's fair share of scum, and we can't always control who's coming along on a job. Let's get this over with, eh?"

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Darius listened to the argument and especially Grimaldi's thaumatological description of the skull spirit. Quite interesting. "A necromancer," he rasped, "is, in my experience, no better nor worse than anyone else. It is a tool, nothing else. Do you blame the swordsman for all the innocent people slaughtered by swords?"
He smiled at the celestial. "Your gifts could be used to kill people. Mine could be used to give closure, or to find a murdered. Or, indeed," he nodded at Grimaldi's words, "to resurrect scum for the economical gain of the guild."

"Peace, celestial, at least until we leave this place? After that," he laughed, though it came out more rasping than laughing, "I would gladly debate philosophy with you."

Re: Broderick's Expedition

[Private to GM: It's apparent the group are not interested in planning a course of action so Broderick leads/ushers them to the room with the grate] Leading the group into the adjacent room Broderick pauses and points through the doorway to the grate. The Slorn is somewhere behind that Grate.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Melchizidek (msg # 561):

Having rounded the corner after leaving the gated area, you enter a narrow damp passage that is braced by timbers. One side is the rough masonry of the other side of the room Voorland is plastering, and the opposite wall is very damp, and has a battered bronze gate blocking an arched entrance. Rhe wall looks to be about a yard thinck, whereas the walls of the basement seem to be about a foot thick, except for bracing in the corner.

There are spots in the narrow corridor where the support beams are buttressing on a diagnal, makung passage awkward.

"Hark!"
Grimaldi held up a hand. "The way ahead looks difficult. Let us arrange ourselves in a manner, so that if a bad cloud come upon us, I may protect everyone..."
Grimaldi steps forward, and moves up in the ranks.

Broderick clambers past the fallen timbers as he had previously. He then assists Clair to negotiate the timbers. Once everyone had passed the obstacle he continues on towards the room with the Slorn.

Clair extends her exquisitely manicured hand taking Broderick's own as he assists her to negotiate the fallen timbers. Once clear of the debris she brushes the dust of her gown as she thanks him.

Darius moved in after the couple, keeping his quarterstaff well away from the beams.

OOC: That would make the marching order Grimaldi, Melchizidek, Broderick and Clair, Darius, and probably Rafik, right?

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 577):

Once past the counterbracing, where it looks like the wall was bowing out (and no doubt reinforced on the opposite side by Voorland 's work, your lights bounce off a body of water visible tbrough a corroded bronze gate.
The gate is flush with the left hand wall, and tbrough it you can see a ledge about a yard wide running along the wall. Accross a five yard body of water, you can see a matching ledge on the far side.
The tunnel has an arched ceiling, like a barrel vault. A few rats are visible on the far ledge, and you can see a matching gate on the far side. There is a pervasive odor of damp, comingled with that of sewage and a slaughterhouse.
