"At the Guild end, yes, it's the sorehead losers.  But on a more individual basis, Khrosh and company are likely to feel themselves losers, because they didn't get the chance to kill Glosso and Hramina.  Still, for the few of us, it's just a matter of some juggers with a grudge.

I would still go at base price of $150 per week for CoL without inflicting treaction penalties. Status-1 is sharing a room with 4 -6 people, or sleeping in the stables hayloft. Splitting a fairly clean room with 1-2 people is status 0.

How much for a cramped studio apartment on your own?

If you want a garret room, 4th story walkup that is a bit drafty and may have bats or vermin, I would permit the reduced rate, but you get weekly checks for infestation (rats eat your meals/clothing/boots). Pay a point for "base" and you own the damn thing at a reduced rate. Upgrade status in some way, the place improves with you.

OOC: i'd get me cat, and if it's drafty, get me few tapestries. couldn't handle a leaky roof in a garret, though. All foodstuffs would be in crockery, too.

So does guild rank have anything to do with Status?

Guild rank counts as status within the guild; a rank 2 person has a status 0 apartment  with the base perk.

Hilerno asks to be shown where the guild quarters are so he knows where to return -- and when -- when the time to sleep approaches. He also asks where and how guild assignments are given.

do we get one rank of general status for free, with each 3 levels of rank, not only guild, but say, military, or administrative, or household rank? 3rd edition is like that.

ooc: In 4e, Rank 2-4 gives Status 1, Rank 5-7 gives Status 2... in worlds where Status and Rank are connected.

"I've been sleeping in the common room -- it's not bad, as long as you don't have a problem getting back to sleep when someone wakes you up.  Just put your purse inside your tunic.  I may have to upgrade to a room soon, though, so I can cook -- at least rice and noodles and maybe a pot of beans now and then.

"I've never been really sure the kitchen staff aren't lying to me about meat in the hot brown.  Can't see where they'd go to the expense if they don't have to, but I can also see where they'd lie about it if they did have a little something, and by the time it's cooked overnight, it's almost impossible to tell by looking -- never mind by tasting, with the spices they put in it."

Status 1 and very wealthy, all paid for separately. Status is a social
thing that involves recognition by the empire. Rank, by your organization.

The hot brown stew is mostly lentils. It is not only lentils however.
