As soon as Jednesa has the Doomchild in hand Stenet turns and heads back for his dropped axe, then (if nothing ambushes anyone) he'll rejoin Haskell to start down the next row.


"I'm thinking maybe we could use a second candle and have someone take the middle of themost recently cleared aisle?  I donnno, maybe keep these abominations from sneaking back behind us?"

I turn my head and look toward Stenet;

"If you don't think it necessary to save them for later, I see no reason not to use them.  This one seems to be doing quite well for this space though."

"The lingering scent did not stop that one from slipping through however.  Maybe a freshly burning one will do a better job?"

"It would seem not to have stopped that one from attacking. Are we not using them correctly?" said Christine, looking around for more trouble.

"Perhaps we need to break into pairs, and have a pair at each entrance to the room, then just move through the room to clear out the rows. Last thing we need is more coming in half way through clearing..."

"I reshaped them for our use, so you are welcome to burn as many as makes you comfortable.  However, I would caution against using them all here as we may need some later.
This one did a good job of annoying the little demon enough that it gave up it's position and was dealt with."

I tuck my axe back in it's slot, fish the rest of the candles out of my pouch, and hold them toward Stenet.

"It's also possible it weakened it.  That imp wasn't as much of a problem to wrangle as it probably should have been.  But I think we should split these candles up.  You keep a few, I'll take one, have Azrael with a couple, Christine with a couple.  If we get separated somehow and need to use one to ward of some demons, it would be good to have it.  How many do you have left?"

"Maybe I should finish reading the book for extra protection?" Malga'mar says in a manner which is not quite statement and not quite question.

I feel my way gently up the one in my helmet lamp mount to see how tall it still is.

"I managed to sculpt about a dozen of of that mess.  Based on how long tis one's been going, they're probably about an hour each."

"That is 12 hours of candles left. Reading the book will take how long, Mal?"

The doombrat Jednessa just detonated did not get past the candle behind you, and you spotted it because the candle in Dareos' helmet lamp was making it sneeze.

The explosion seems to have attracted more, as there is noise coming from the far end of the cellar.

"Prepare yourselves, more come..." Stenet readies his axe and waits to see if any come out into the open.

We only have the candle in Dareos' helmet lamp (and the one all the way back at the statue).

OOC: Mal can read a little over 2 times faster than the average person.  I'm unsure how long it typically takes to read the book.

"Jednessa, can you go to the far end entrance with me to stop more arrivals while the rest of you finish clearing this room?"

She begins to move accordingly.

I continue to hold the handful of candles in my tentacly fingers as everyone shuffles past to their respective duties so that the may take what's needed.

Once I'm certain everyone has one that wants one, I tuck the rest gently back into my pouch.

As the smell hits my nose again, I ponder out loud;

"If I still have a couple of these left at the end of our mission here, I might be able to deduce the formulary and reproduce them for future use."

Jednesa moves past Azrael, Walter and Malga'Mar and through the row to catch up with Christine.

Stenet heads back and takes one of the Candles from Dareos, tucking it in a pouch.  Then he returns to end of the row where Haskel is guarding.

"That sounds like a good idea, Dareos. Perhaps you should join us holding this entrance while the rest sweep, if everyone has all the candles they need. One where we guard the door might work well."

Azrael takes one but doesn't light it, he stands next to the door they entered through with Dareos.

Esoteric medicine, alchemy and either hidden lore demons or physiology: dem9ns would be useful skills in concocting the recipie.


Once several of the candles are lit, you can hear a few sneezes from the far side of the room.

I slip an axe from my belt and give Azrael a welcoming nod as he steps to my side.

Azrael draws his large Knife and stands ready...

Azrael has no sort of ranged attack and very poor Melee ability ... he's great with a knife if you want a butter sculpture though!
