"It may take some time." Mancini took the keys. "So don't concern yourself if you don't hear from us."

He led the way down.

In reply to Aoife (msg # 111):

The guard leads you in to the main level, which has racks of wine
barrels, down a ramp into another large room with rows of racks of
barrels, and toward a bronze and iron gate set in the floor, with several
 locks.

"There is a ladder along the wall there. You are going to need it."

"Thank you, gentlemen," Mancini said. He turned to the others. "I speak... passable... ogrish. I will do my best to negotiate with them peacefully. Do your best to appear confident without being aggressive. Above all, be ready to act should things sour."

He unlocked and opened the hatch. "We'll send a scout first. To go down and see what we'll be crawling into, then return and report."

"I don't have a word of ogrish.  With a little luck, they'll speak some Aralaise.  Otherwise, Mancini's going to be doing a lot of translating if it isn't just a straight-up fight -- and I hope it isn't."

Holding out his helmet lamp to take a light from the torch, Ardenas says, "This'll keep my hands free, and give me enough light to see where I'm going."

He slips off his backpack -- not using the quick-release feature, this time.  He pats his delver's webbing, making sure his shuriken and paut are where he expects them, along with one bottle of oil for his lamp, then steps over by the ladder.

He holds his helmet lamp off to one side as he looks down the shaft to check for existing lights; if he sees none, he'll clip the lamp to his leather helm and start climbing down, as quietly as possible.

[Private to GM: 18:11, Today: Ardenas Barehand rolled 6 using 1d6+1.  Stealth (12).]

In reply to Ardenas Barehand (msg # 125):

There are no lights below, and the sound of the gate opening echoes strangely.
From the light you have, (the basement is torchlit) you can see that is a large open stace with another grate on the ground off to the side. Ardenas' headlamp reflects off of several gates along the side walls. The room looks to be about ten yards on a side, roughtly the same size as the cask filled space you are in.

"Come if you're coming, Aoife.  I don't know that you even need to change form, if you can walk quietly."

Ardenas steps through the open grate and pauses, blocking it from closing with his body long enough for Aoife to pass if she wishes to.
