"Plutocrat Remulos, have you hired some of the Guild's fine adventurers to aid this goddess? To me, it seems the simplest of solutions.  You make sure she can travel escorted, but without Hadereaum blessing.  Plus, with the right individuals, you can ensure she makes few or no new converts."

"Exactly. I can extend a number of Delving licenses to you for the trouble; they allow for anything rhe bearer takes out of the Undercity to be tax free."

"That brings me to my only question: why should we care if anyone cares to attack a goddess? It seems to me that she should be able to take care of any threat to her being with a flick of her wrist.  Unless she is a pathetic goddess, which in that case, why not let her be destroyed and the world go on as it may?"

"I suspect she'll be able to more than protect herself. The aim is to prevent her from gaining converts, while she sojourns in our realm. To do that, will require a combination of force of presence, diplomacy, and a knack for distraction..."

"Not to mention that if she does, in fact, solve a perceived problem with a 'flick of her wrist,' the result might be something the humans of Northport would consider more of a disaster.

"Given that a goddess may see these things quite differently from us, it's probably best to have some along who can both try to prevent such issues, and potentially convince the goddess there's no need to overreact."

"You have a good point, Aoife.  As one who isn't personally a worshipper of death, I feel I'd be pretty resistant to mere persuasion -- but as a mortal human with little magic of my own, I know myself to be vulnerable to power.  I don't know that I've met anyone who would meet both criteria.

"A troll, you say?  I don't personally know any of those; wouldn't have confidently said there were any living in Northport, were it not for the stories of them being driven out of DuClaire's wine cellars.  Is there something that makes trolls likely to be resistant to both the charms and the power of this goddess?"

"I was with Stark when he made peace with the trolls, and if the goddess is anything like an elf with blue hair, well, we will have more trouble stopping them killing her than worrying about them falling for her charms!"

"Perhaps I should clarify more; this individual is of celestial descent, and is a servitor of a goddess of death, whose aims, while not entirely out of alignment with those of Hades, are culturally different enough as to not be approved of. She is a demon huntress, and divinely empowered, yet represents a fairh we would rather not take root in our domain. "

"I'm a bit torn by this revelation, Plutocrat Remulos.  On the one hand, I could care less what you fine folks over there at the Haedereum do in your spare time and the business the Guild could pick up would be a boon. Not to mention those licenses.  But, on the other, if this goddess, or relation of goddess, or celestial, whathaveyou, is ridding the world of demons, why should we stand in the way?  I'm no saint, and I'm not a religious man, but I do know that demons bring only trouble for people, and eventually, maybe some of that trouble from one of those unchecked demons would find its way back to the Guild.  Maybe it would be better to cut ties... "

Mancini paused.

In reply to Mancini (msg # 819):

"Holy warriors of Hades have already been dispatched by the Hadereum to root out demons and the foul cults that traffic in their kind. This celestial is not like Melchizidek the Priest of Helios.
She is an adherent to a foreign creed, similar to another outlier celestial that was apparently defiling or blessing the shrine of Priapus two weeks ago. That one was spawn of some alien fertility deity, and thankfully not active near the city at this time. Please, we have no issue with her hunting demons, only embarrassment that our little problem has attracted  agents of foreign faiths to do so."

(OOC: 23:36, Today: Mancini rolled 9 using 3d6.  Diplomacy    16. Roll passes.)

"Wait a minute, Plutocrat Remolus. With all due respect,  nobody's going anywhere with you, especially not without the terms of an agreement ironed out.  I will not have it on my head for anyone to say I did not do my job properly."

He paused for a second to gather his thoughts. "It seems some of my group need clarification on exactly what we are to be doing.  I believe this to be a fair point.  I would hate for our little agreement to be voided all because of vagueness over the details.  Am I correct in summarizing the job as thus: we are to escort a demon huntress on her rounds, helping her in her duties if necessary, while simultaneously distracting her from making converts?"

Mancini grabbed a pen, writing as he talked aloud to Remolus.  "Additionally, since we might be expected to fight demons or other such spawn, do you have any other equipment that you may give to any that wish to assist in this mission?  While silver knuckles may be useful for Ardenas, they are not ideal for all."
