Into the winecellars once more

"Yes, sir, I have some limited skill with Movement college magic -- more along the lines of a spell here or there that can enhance my more physical skills.

"My talent is limited, and I'm not highly skilled at any spell -- but if it comes up that only the ability to levitate or walk up a wall will solve a problem, I can get it done.  Once before resting, usually.  I can also open locks with magic, throw things around or launch missiles with much more force than I could with my own arm, and add to my speed or that of an ally for a short time -- but unless there's a supply of paut at hand, magic will tire me quickly, and I lack the ability more broadly talented mages often have to regain energy rapidly."

Aoife is much smaller than most, and does not relish the thought of dancing with giants. She listens to the discussion with interest, though her facial expressions indicate she is clearly also not keen on guild politics.

"Healing..." Mancini wrote that down. "Shapeshifting... animal and kobold allies. Got it.

"We have some time to prepare. Do as you see fit, meet at the warehouse in three hours. Supply yourselves for an extended visit to the undercity. Several days, perhaps. Aoife, see if any of your kobold allies can act as guides to the lands below, and see if any of the eye witnesses can tell us more. Any questions?"

"If you would like me to provide sandwiches, I will provide sandwiches. No other hirelings, however. The fewer eyes to see, the fewer tongues to wag, the easier it is to control the flow of information. And I am afraid that we're not budgeted for much more than sandwiches."

"Acquire whatever personal gear and supplies you think you will require. Food. Torches. Rope. Get receipts. I will try to arrange for an operational budget, and if successful, will reimburse reasonable purchases." He paused, then repeated that last part. "Reasonable. Purchases. Understand that to mean inexpensive consumables, limited by how much I can acquire."

[Private to GM: Is there a guild treasurer? This is clearly an operation to benefit the guild directly; "guild business," so if it's possible to get operational funds from the guild itself - discretely - Mancini will do so.

If not, he'll go to DuClair and try to get some money for supplies to "end the problem at its source."

Merchant-16 in both cases.

"Right now my pockets are a little lighter, hell, I have no money at all. Do you think I get some advancement or maybe a credit letter from you so I could buy small things like a rope, a torch, *COF* a sword *COF*, a water bag, etc and etc?   "

In reply to Mancini (msg # 50):

Aoife is rather flattered by the giants response. Truth told, she could probably fit comfortably in one of his hands. She draws herself up to her full 17 inches of height and thanks him. She figures he could carry enough rations for her for a month in his pocket.

Mancini leaves and returns twenty minutes later. "I have arranged limited funding for the venture. DuClare has agreed to pay guild rates for one day's labor. That's six silver for each of you. He paid a portion of this up-front."

He counted out four silver coins for Dellas. "These will of course come out of your final share. If any of the rest of you need an advance let me know, and with whatever is left I will purchase group supplies."

ooc: 1 silver = $20, so the pay from DuClare is $120, and Dellas got a $80 advance against that pay.
