Still watching the guards on the stairs As he waits for them to wade into the brawl, Chou-Zhen shouts "Ales!  Watch your step!"  Once the guards from upstairs have reached the ground floor, he speaks a short phrase, barely audible beyond arm's reach because of the noise of the scrum, and makes a horizontal smoothing gesture with his right hand.

It is as if the spilled soup had become the highest quality of grease, and the area of the brawl dissolves into a mass of folk mainly struggling to stand or falling to the floor.

The guards and brawlers mostly flop about comically, and the waiter, carrying trays of soup and noodles almost holds his footing, but everything goes flying.
Two men standing on top of a table are still fightibg, but the table gets knocked over by the falling waiter...

Ales sees Chou's head nodding and follows.  As he heads in the groups general direction, he sees Chou making a set of hand gestures and immediately moves out of the way.

As he looks back to see the result of Chou's spell, he laughs and smiles as he sees the mess of patrons on the floor.

Soup, noodles and broken crockery mire the tangle of guards, waiters and brawlers.

Chou-Zhen turns to Jin.  "Do you suppose we should help them find a mop?"

Chye keeps sharp, and low-key.

Ales makes it over to where Jin and Chou were standing.

"Perhaps we should cause a few more mishaps to buy our friends some more time", he said in a low voice, just loud enough for Chou and Jin to hear.

"The slippery floor will last ten minutes, regardless how much soup the staff mops up.  I have just enough energy to cast such a spell again, but I can't recall how I did it, and I have nothing else as disruptive that will do minimal harm to people or the house.

"Perhaps you have something in the line of an illusion?"

Chye finds a spot where he can stand away from the melee, and take advantage of the acoustics. Along with a lively performance, he plays an upbeat tune called: "The God's Duel" on his lute, amid the chaos.

"Unfortunately, most of my spells are attack oriented.  However, I could cast a spell for some illusionary fireballs and spend a few minutes distracting the people with some juggling. Or I make the sound of plates breaking down the way and send some of the staff off for fun."

Ales yawned.  "If you have anything up your sleeve, I could lend you some energy.  Otherwise, I'm wondering if I should play the dumb idiot and see if I can get through the guards."

"I have nothing that would add to this.  Perhaps the brawl will resume when folk are once more able to stand?"

The waiter approaches, with another tray of noodles... he si heading close to the edge of the greased area.

Chou-Zhen flips his whip back by his feet and begins to coil it for stowing.

The brawlers and waitstaff in the grease spill are starting to crawl out; the folks Chye prompted along with three others scrabbling over betting
schits are still goiing at ut, and one of the guards is unsuccessfully
 trying to pull them off eachother.

Ales starts to walk to the stairs, assuming the persona of a common folk at the Silver Jade Palace for the first time.

Chye finishes the last loop, and ends his performance. He decides it's time to make scarce, and goes outside to the porch.

Chou-Zhen waits and watches as the brawlers and guards try to function without traction.

"Jin, is there something we should prepare to do when this spell ends and everyone can suddenly stand and walk normally?"

OOC: He'll have a few seconds warning before the Grease spell ends, when his Lighten Burden comes up for maintenance -- and yes, he'll maintain that spell, at least for another ten minutes.

In reply to Chou-Zhen Mou (msg # 150):

As Chou leaves, one unaffected guard manages to drag his fellow out by
his pant leg.  A pair of laborers with cleated sandals arrive with mops
and buckets, and one of the waiters drops a small easel with a scroll that has the pictogram for water on it.

On the porch, Chye watches the guy being dragged out, amusedly.
"Hohoho...Quite the cluster-fuck, in there, Yes?"

"Quite amusing, in a lowbrow way.  I think I may have to actually learn that spell, when I have time -- it is a terrible energy sink, but it could also turn a squad of soldiers into a shooting gallery, if you have the energy, or a good supply of paut.  Or potentially let you finish a single opponent quickly."

Once out of the grease slick, the guard regains bis feet. Meanwhile, the cleaning crew is using hot vinegar to mop down the area.
