"It does not seem able to hit us here...lets stop and see."

He stops and looks for something to brace his crossbow on, like Goran's shoulder. If he can, he will take very long and careful aim at whatever passes for its head, making sure to aim through the bars.

Shooting through the grate at anything other than point blank range is -6. Point blank is -2 but has its own problems

Hograth braces and aims very carefully, taking his time to hit the creature where he supposes it's vital organs might be through the bars.

[Private to GM: Rolled 9, needed 12 to hit vitals though bars, with 3 seconds aiming. 14 imp damage, x3 multiplier if he actually guesses where the vitals are...]

Urrun watches, but doesn't think he could avoid the bars ... he isn't sure his pellets would do much either.

The creature hisses noxiously, and a foul ichor seeps out of its mouth. It collapses on the gate, breathing raspily, but its eyes are unfocused.

He begins winding the cranequin until the heavy cable is drawn, before reloading the bow. He then braces the weapon, and once again takes a carefully aimed shot at the creatures vitals through the bars, bracing against Goran once again. The process takes about 20 seconds, since he is taking his time to make sure the cloud stays away.

[Private to GM: Skill 16 +2 balance, bond +6 acc, +2 extra time, +1 braced, +1 determined, -6 bars, -3 vitals = 19, rolled 14, 19 imp damage to vitals, x3.]

Sadly the gate opens outward... but a handy dwarf ought be able to remove the hinges even through tbe bars.
